I had Guyanese food for the first time in my life. This particular restaurant doesn’t serve halal food so all we had was fish and vegetarian dishes. The seafood rice dish smelled terribly fishy. The other dishes were just the worst. I would never come back here again to eat. The food was barely edible. I wanted to gag and throw up. This place is a dive restaurant, the dishes reflected the restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the restaurant staff was great, very accomodating, warm, and extremely friendly. I fell in love with the Sorrel they serve there. The place was also clean and surprisingly relatively quiet, given the fact that a club was connected next door and drunk kids were walking back and forth in front of our booth. Maybe my opinion would change if I could eat the meat dishes here.

Came her numerous times with family and friends over the years. Always get seated on time and the food is always great. The owner and his sons are very hospitable. They are always coming around to make sure everything was prepared correctly. The Simbala shrimp fried rice is one of my favorite fried rice dishes and for the curry selection, all impeccable. The Dhal is AMAZING. If you thought your mother’s dhal was good, try the Dhal at the Nest. Overall, I always have an amazing time here. Must try for sure. The BAR makes good drinks, good price too!

If you’re in the mood for a low-key, mellow vibes scene, this is a good spot. I love that the restaurant is separated from the bar which makes it kid-friendly & also sometimes you don’t want to deal with the crazy drunkards in Queens. The food is okay. I’ve tried out several dishes & no complaints really. Keep in mind the weekends can be a wait for a table. They’re good for a nice lunch or dinner.

Food was bland and served cold. I don’t know what’s going on with this place, but they used to be very good. I guess they couldn’t afford the cooks they used to have. Save your money, please. We had the chicken fried rice, curry duck and dhal puri. All boney pieces, very cold and tasted so watery. Yuck! The chicken in the fried rice looked so old and barely had meat.

I have eaten here numerous times growing up in the neighborhood. I’m a big fan of the boneless jerk chicken it is seasoned well and very tasty. The seasoned fries are always a must as well! However I’m not a fan of their noodles or fried rice. Although I’ve tried almost every different type of fried rice and lo mein they offer, they all just seem so bland. On occasions I do enjoy sitting in for a drink every so often with my girls. The drinks are are always on the stronger side but mixed well. The henny colada is my go-to drink. The staff are always pleasant for the most part. The people working the register are always on edge and tend to be a little hostile. I assume it’s from high call volumes, and mere frustration.

This is based on so much, I’ve been a serious loyal customer the past 15 yrs. over all the food is seriously hit or miss, day or night kinda thing. Day time is very bad and the cook flavors are bad, the night is much better and actually Taste better. My problem is that through the yrs, the owner keeps and still continue to NOT listen to his customers!!! In the past, the food was seriously on point, the last couple yrs, it has been going down, the name of this place is what keeps it busy and the yrs that they have been open through different owners. So, me always getting takeout in the past was never an issue with quality of the food but horrible service in the last 2 yrs!!! Food is wrong, send the wrong order!!! never put what I ask for and then no one does anything when I complain!!! The owner doesn’t care about his customers just the money that’s in his pocket! From hard working pplz who look forward to a good meal but has been beyond disappointed for yrs with the take out service! If you really want to have better food serverd the only way is to eat there, that way it’s never wrong!!! The way his customers has been being treated throughout the yrs has been harsh and don’t give shit attitude!!! He don’t even care about his staff, I’m tired of calling for food and the other person don’t even know what I’m asking for!!! I know we’re West Indian! But damn! At least train the young females and males what alooe is!!! Aka potatoes!!! I’m Sorry but I’m seriously hating how Richmond hill is becoming! The culture is like being mocked for out of state pplz and the food, service and quality is going down!!!

Served cold food!!! Food not good at all. Don’t waste your time and money on this thinking your going to get that authentic Guyanese style Chinese food. Not worth it.

I don’t understand why people go crazy for their food, it isn’t even«good». I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place, sorry & plus the hostess in the front was on her phone when I went to pick my order up. Took her a good 3-minutes to realize I was standing there lol, smh. Gave you 2-stars still though.

The food here was mediocre not bad. The nest is only a couple blocks away and delivery took close to two hours. Chinese/Caribbean cuisine thats a hint above bland. Probably will not be ordering from here unless its the only thing available.

Customer service is something this place needs to work on. The staff is young a inexperienced and should be trained on how to speak to customers and on how to answer the phone to start off !! I am surprised that this place gets business but I do believe the bar that’s attached is what brings in the money for the business.

Very good example of West Indian food both Chinese and Indian. It might be hit or miss based on consistency, but overall food has been tasty. I would recommend trying and getting a taste of the Caribbean. The staff for the most part are helpful, but you need to get their attention. Lots of regulars so expect the neglect if you are a new face. Once you make yourself known/get their attention they’re helpful.

Not the best dining experience. The roast duck fried rice was extremely salty and the fried snappper a bit fishy. The free shots were a joke, it was a watered down wine cooler. The 3 stars goes to our server, Maureen, who was friendly and helpful.

When it comes to West Indian fried rice this place is one of the best. I had the pepper shrimp fried rice and it did not disappoint. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not peppery at all. Best of all, if you check in with Unilocal, you’ll get a free shot for your party. Also, this place realizes that we live in a social media world. They provide free charging cable any wifi.

Well if you’re very hungry and have ATLEAST An hour or sometimes more to wait for food order here !!! Food is good but service is SERIOUSLYDISGUSTING !! The manager does not even care about the customers complaints or feelings, since one time I had to wait one and a half hour fir food only to which they sent the wrong order And then the manager simply said there Was nothing he could do and blamed it on the delivery guy !! Seriously ??? They act as if they are THEONLY Restaurant a person can order from ifyou want delivery !!! I have dined and had taken out from this place on many occasions and have been happy with my meal. But tonight I was VERY disappointed in my meal. The chicken was dry. This wasn’t the food I was use to from the Nest.

The reviewer Sasha P. was spot on with her review regarding the portion. Today, I decided to try«The Nest.» I ordered Chicken Fried Rice and Sambala Shrimp to go. The Chicken Fried Rice was tasty but this order had a disproportionate amount of rice vs chicken. The chicken were a few measly pieces over lots of rice. I have never seen such meager portions of chicken to rice from a West Indian restaurant. The Sambala Shrimp was ordered as a meal. I chose to have it with Chowmein which is a soft noodle(spaghetti like) not the water noodle. The Chowmein tasted fine but the shrimp was nothing to write home about. There were 8 pieces of Shrimp. I think 10 pieces would have done the job; especially, since this dish is on the pricer side compared to the chicken fried rice. While waiting for my order I glanced over the décor. It was your typical West Indian joint. What is it, with these places where the proprietors feel that the darker the enclosure the better? No sense of design. The girl who took my order was fine. Can’t put too much weight on the service so my rating is strictly about the food. Would I return for another take out or eat in? The answer is an emphatic NO!

I will ALWAYS give 100% honesty when posting a review, as you can tell from my previous review this was my go to spot for west indian food. I placed an order for a jerk chicken fried rice as I do every weekend for dinner, hubby went to go pick it up, & as he normally checks the food before paying he realized we been ripped off. there was ¼ of a cup of cooked chicken mounted on top of so much fried rice. He nicely complained about it and wanted to know why their portions became more smalled for the $ 12 they were charging. The hostess cursed and told me he can have his«fuc*ing money back» he left in shock. But you best believed my ass called and gave her a piece of my mind on top of that spoke to the owner and told his I will be posting a very negative review about this place. The hostess name is Meghan, to me she needs a good class in manners and social skills. They don’t even honor their free shot for each check in! Typically west indian dump!!!

I’ve been to this venue twice before– once in the bar and once in the restaurant, and the experience both times were good. Decided to visit again last night for dinner with drinks. I arrived before my date so I waited at the bar and it was okay. I had wanted a Belini Martini but I was told they didnt have all the ingredients for that. Friday night the bar should have been stocked, but I got the Lychee Martini and it was nice. My only complaint is that the music could be more diverse, since it’s pegged as a West Indian spot, it would be nice to hear a variety of West Indian music. Yes the neighborhood is predominantly Indian, but I’m pretty sure they don’t all speak Hindi. The last time I was there the dj played a mix of music so maybe it was just last night. When my date did arrive though we went over to the restaurant and the experience was great! Our waitress was very nice and friendly, and accommodated us well. He ordered the Jerk Shrimp Fried Rice and I had the House Special Lo Mein with some Chicken Fingers on the side. No complaints about the food it tasted great! We also ordered drinks: Strawberry Daiquiri and Blue Hawaiian. They were good but we had our waitress top it up with some rum because we couldn’t taste it when it originally came. But overall the dinner experience was a good one! Will definitely return here, I love this place and I like that it’s in my neighborhood so convenient.
