Great prices when my wife was shopping there, however as mentioned in other reviews the smell is way to strong. I’m giving them one star for buying clothes as well as selling them, and the other star for prices. The smell alone is enough to ward away anyone over the age of 16. It is very reminiscing of that person that you know who showers in Cologne or perfume. As soon as you step foot in the place the smell punches you right in the face. For somebody that might have an allergy to any type of deodorants then stay away. They must let their employees every ten minutes run wildly in the store displacing oxygen. This has to be violating one of those hippie EPA laws…

No thanks. I have some friends that are into this place so I checked them out and tried to sell a couple bags here. I knew I had to go to the Apple Store so I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone. Well, the Platos Closet stone didn’t seem to kill the second bird — if that analogy befits the point I’m trying to make. I came back maybe 40 – 45 min later and then had to walk around the shop for another 30 – 45 before they even looked through my clothes. I wasn’t loving the inventory but it’s personal preference really. They have a lot of Forever 21 and other things of that price point and caliber. Couldn’t find anything I liked and should have taken that as a sign that they probably didn’t want my stuff. What surprised me most was that they passed up literally a duffle bag half filled with barely worn American Apparel clothes. I mean, not even a couple bucks? I ended up just going back to one of my go-to spots to sell everything but they took maybe 2 or 3 pieces out of two giant duffles full. Not really a place I’d recommend for modern /upscale /vintage fans. Definitely not trying to be demeaning here but just not my cup of tea. I know some folks who love it though, which is why I gave it a shot in the first place. C’est la vie !

Recently dropped off some items, some new with tags from well known retailer. As I browsed the store, noticed the clerks never even opened the bag to review the items I brought in! Too busy talking about other employees! When I approached the counter, I was told there was nothing they wanted. Staff is not truthful! Extremely poor customer service, no acknowledgement, no offer to help, keep employee personnel issues off the floor, customers do not want to hear your business! I will never return.

The selection and prices here are great, but the smell is extremely off putting. As soon as you walk in the door, you’re hit by a perfume that is overwhelming to the point of headache inducing. This is from an automatic air freshener that pumps out fragrance on a far too often basis. When I brought it up to the employees, I was told they were aware and it was 50⁄50 on people who enjoyed it and hated it. I repeat, they are aware that they are turning off half of their business with something that they can easily fix, and don’t really give a care if you don’t like it because some people do. There also seems to be no A/C, so expect to sweat in the dressing rooms. TL/DR; It’s not a pleasant shopping experience, but you can find great stuff here.

Not only does this place rip you off completely, they also preach that they only take things 18 months old MAX. Well shopping yesterday I was looking at multiple items from 2008 that were way overpriced. They clearly need to do some inventory because nobody wants to pay 20 for a pair of jeans that are 7 years old. Also the staff there has zero customer service skills. One girl yesterday never offered me a room or couldn’t even ask if she could help me for like 10 minutes(until I approached her and asked) while I was standing there with a car seat, baby in my arms, and a load full of clothes. I worked retail for a number of years and that would have never flown there– or morally. Who can seriously have someone like that standing 3 feet away and not ask. Most of their inventory is garbage anyway

Since I am in a financial pickle like the majority of the working class, I love buying my tops, dresses, skirts, and accessories here. I don’t go for the shoes or jeans because I’m very petite and it just won’t work out! This interesting secondhand store actually gives you cash money when it’s time to donate your clothing. Before bringing it to the Salvation Army or Goodwill, think about Plato’s. I made $ 15 with one bag of clothing and $ 30 on another. Seriously folks, you get CASH for giving PC your unwanted fashion trends. However, there is a catch. Your unwanted clothing must not be from the 70s-2000s because they have a computer system that lets the consumer know if the merchandise still has value or not. Nifty, right? If you think you’ll get money back for your items, try it out. It never hurts to try. I usually find good steals for close to 75% off. Some brands that I’ve bought from Platos range from Express, American Eagle, H&M and a whole lot more. I always go to PC excited because I know I’ll find something!
