Maine Motel

Loved the owners! It was so cheap and clean. We slept very comfortably and enjoyed our stay! It was great last minute find.

FIRST OF ALL LET ME PREFACE THIS BY SAYING: The people who run the place were very nice and courteous. I have no complaints about the staff i was just very displeased with the look, feel, and smell of our room.
i would have rather paid the extra 15 $ a night to stay at a best western or comfort inn. I wasn’t expecting champagne and silk sheets as i was going budget, but i did expect a non smoking room that smelt like it hadn’t been smoked in, i have traveled to touristy places like monterey ca and made the same gamble and it paid off… this time not so much.
The room was super dated and smelt like an ash tray when we first walked in. The carpet and curtains have probably been in there since before it was ever a «non-​smoking» room. we went to target and bought some febreeze and febreezed the hell out of that place… it helped a little.
When we first got there The sheets were dirty and we had to call in a fresh set as there were stains on the ones already on the bed, and i didn’t want to get pregnant by them.
when we called the lady brought them no problems, but i was bummed i had to ask for clean ones.
We stayed for 4 nights and regretted every day of it mainly because of the smell. every time we stepped in it reminded me of the smell of a grandparents or uncles house in the 80s were they chain smoked in doors… ugh.
I would never have any family or friends stay here (hint hint in case i recommend it to you).
if i wasn’t made to pay up front (my bad for calling ahead and booking for 4 days in advance) we would have found another room.
side note and to be fair, the fridge and air conditioner worked though they were both pretty old and beat up, there was no iron and no hangers though there was a place to hang stuff up. Also they did provide soap and shampoo but after one day we decided to go to target and buy our own.
They brought us clean towels, and changed the garbage but never vacuumed while we there and we had no problem with them doing the room service thing. also we made our own bed each day…
there weren’t any hookers or drug dealers hanging around, but it was only a degree away from being one of those types of seedy motels.
