I walked into De Milo Design on the off-chance that I could get 10 wedding invitations for my very intimate ceremony occurring less than two weeks away. Annika worked with me to create a unique and classy design, using her gorgeous papers for both the invitation and envelops, as well as gift tags. She went so far as to prepare the invites for mailing with beautiful floral stamps. I could not have received better service, or a more beautiful product. I will definitely use Annika and De Milo again.

I never wanted to get married, that is until I met the Hungarian, and then I wanted nothing more. The wedding I was less enthusiastic about. Something simple but classy. I had a specific aesthetic I just didn’t know how to express that in the context of nuptials. I went on for ideas. Huge mistake. Most of the girls on that site have been planning their weddings since conception. If you’re like me and would have been happy to elope, then The Knot will make your head explode. Totally de trop! But, I have to give them credit for turning me on to letterpress. My own search led me to De Milo Design. In 2003, I got my wedding invitations here. It was the easiest wedding-related decision I made(next to YES!). Dealing with Annika was so calming. And within five minutes, I knew exactly what I wanted. The invitation is the first taste of your wedding(assuming you don’t do save-the-dates). Much like an overture or a prelude, it should set the tone of what’s to come. My point is: the invitation is just as important as the dress. Recently, I referred my friend to them after seeing some of the crap other, more expensive letterpresses were trying to pass off as elegant, more like excessive. My friend ended up going with De Milo too, and I was shocked to see the prices really haven’t gone up in 11 years! Inks, card stock, design, fonts, all gorgeous. They don’t do anything tacky here. Just exquisite work. They’re true artisans.

Gorgeous, creative design and paper for all printing needs in an ethical, sustainable business that supports fair trade papermakers and sustainable products to help heal the earth… holiday cards, invitations, business cards, programs, brochures, you name it, they do it but very very creatively. 5-stars! Check out all the designs online or take a class in letterpress printing on site :) Founder/designer Annika Buxman is the real deal, risking safety to travel to remote villages to purchase fair trade papers to support self-sustaining cooperatives in Burma, etc. Its worth getting your printed products here for the beauty and for the difference this business makes in the world.

I was referred to De Milo Design by my brand/website designer. I had a wonderful experience dealing with Annika and my letterpress business cards came out beautifully. Annika was extremely professional the few times I emailed/spoke with her and the whole transaction was painless and easy.

I received a ‘day of letterpress’ as a gift and couldn’t have been more excited. I had been in search of letterpress classes without too much luck. Basically, it was an 8 hour day where I can do whichever projects I had in mind. I had no previous clue as how to work a letterpress, so the lab is definitely great for beginners. The owner, Annika was amazing to work with. I had called her before to schedule my day and we discussed the projects I had in mind. I worked with her quite a bit via email/phone before I got into the lab. I wanted to make business cards and sent her all the files for review. When I arrived, she gave me a little tutorial and training and I was off! It was fairly easy, although labor intensive, and definitely fun! It’s such a great opportunity to learn the art of letterpress and make beautiful things. I will be back with some more projects in mind.

I met Annika at a conference and her De Milo Design products blew me away! I was running out of personalized note cards and I am glad I met Annika before ordering more of the same note cards I had used in the past. Annika’s designs are gorgeous, unique and(very important to me) eco-friendly. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a smooth process in choosing a custom-made product – and all through the internet. Annika worked with me to get a design that reflected my consulting business and would stand out to clients. Her taste is impeccable and her suggestions were right on point. The entire process(from first email after the conference to receiving my stationery) took less than two weeks and even the packaging of the cards reflected Annika’s attention to detail and concern for her customers. I own a small consulting business and love supporting another small business owner whose business model supports the environment and Fair Trade.

In a rush for updated business cards and stationery, I met Annika on a Friday afternoon, and a week later was printing my own cards with her on an antique mechanical press from 1895. She assessed my needs, revamped the copy and image, provided samples of papers, and indulged me in letting me work the press. Not an easy job, using that antique press. The results are most impressive, and in record time as well. Very highly recommended.

Finding an affordable letterpress company ain’t easy. Finding an affordable letterpress company that is also environmentally conscious? Damn near impossible. Then lo and behold, in comes De Milo Design. My fiancé and I are trying to plan an environmentally-friendly wedding without breaking the bank. Annika was incredibly helpful with our Save The Dates from start to finish. She talked us through the different types of cardstock, envelopes, and ink available, and she has a HUGE variety available(we chose jute paper with soy-based ink)! We said we wanted to design the invitations ourselves, so she emailed us a tutorial on scanning our design and sending her the image. I scanned it wrong about 4 times and she emailed every time telling me how to fix each problem. Our Save The Dates were printed within a week. Fast, helpful, resourceful. Seriously, what more could you ask for? Plus, she quoted us an accurate price at our first meeting and it was well below other companies I had looked into(none of which offered the eco-friendly materials she had). The Save the Dates turned out better than we could have hoped for. Can’t wait to start working on the invitations.
