Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day — when else can you get away with having dessert for your entrée and booze as a chaser? So there was no way I was going to miss Robert’s MBC.
Even if it mean 4 hours of sleep post the nightclub that was called Sno (
).
Plus it was at Artemis which specializes in Greek and Mediterranean food. Would we be able to have Ouzo with our eggs? After all, at 8am in Tahoe, it’s 6pm in Greece, so clearly appropriate.
But alas, there was no ouzo. Or if there was, I missed it.
Perhaps due to the pounding headache. It could not have been from the whiskey shots, beer, and mudslides at McP’s (
) followed by the alcohol infused slushie/​smoothies at Sno.
No, obviously, it was altitude sickness. Which resolved itself miraculously after a meal, lots of water, and handfuls of Advil. But I digress…
A Baklava French Toast caught my eye as any french toast on a menu does. But unfortunately it was not be this morning. Fearing my stomach would revolt, I opted for the traditional french toast.
Thick slices of Texas toast coated in a cinnamon vanilla egg batter with crispy bacon hit the spot. And about an hour later I was right as ran and ready to go eat pizza at the Sailor Social.
Thanks goes to Artemis for opening early specifically for this UYE, friendly and helpful staff who were quick with water refills, treated everyone to a freshly baked delicious dessert, and had no qualms about bringing multiple checks to the table.

I am totally not a morning person so when I found out that this was in the morning I truly wasn’t expecting to see SO many people.
This was my first time in Tahoe as well so exploring new foods was something I was really down to do!
This restaurant is located in the marina area on Ski Run Blvd right next to the beautiful lake view with tons of parking available.
A Greek and Mediterranean brunch… REALLY! OKAY… This place introduced me to real food!
Seating is available inside and outside. There is an area in the back that is for big groups that are able to sit more than 20 people.
I walked in and instantly noticed the bar once I entered! Wait… So you’re telling me I can have a cocktail for breakfast? YESSS!!!
Many people in my group was getting dark liquor drinks so I walked up to the bar and spoke to Victoria and Lauren the two lovely bartenders and explained to them that I was interested in a drink but I wanted something with clear liquor in it. Victoria was amazing and told me don’t worry she would bring the drink to me.
A couple minutes later Victoria brought me a Pain Killer drink (White Rum, Coconut Juice, OJ and Nutmeg) this drink was BOMB​.COM! The pictures explain it all. Thank you Victoria!!!
I ordered the Crab Benedict with bacon and Sausage and EVERYTHING was delicious! I scraped my plate cleannnn! Our server was James and he was a pleasure to have as a waiter. Our food came out pronto and he as well as Victoria consistently checked in on our table to see how we were doing.
This restaurant also serves Greek pita breakfast as well which really makes this place stand out!

After a wonderful night, previous night, we were invited for a uye by our fellow elite couple Robert and Ly. I don’t really know how many showed up but there were a lot of us. In fact, we had one of the areas to ourselves and some that came late were seated at the other side were the main entrance is. Elites came from SD, SLC, East Bay Area, Reno, Hawaii and of Sacramento. We had a very good time mingling and getting to know other elites, while we waited for our food. It was great and fun.
I had built my own omelette (bacon, cheese and tomato) and it was delicious. My wife had the steak and eggs breakfast And am sure she enjoyed her meal. This place is located in a beautify area of South Lake Tahoe, conveniently caters for tourist and water lovers. I remember back at 2011 that our family came here and they rented a boat and jet skis. When we were done, we had a little picture taking by the docks (what’s a Unilocaler without taking pictures).
Robert did an amazing job organizing this event. The out come was good and finding this place to start our day was right on. I was full and energized ready to start the long fun filled YEE day.

It’s events like these that make me glad I out in the energy to become an Elite Unilocaler this year! It’s not only because I am able to discover new places and new friends at a lovely venue with great service and terrific food. But it’s also because I get to reflect over a morning meal and time with friends, new and old, both of which I am still savoring.
For our First Annual Tahoe Getaway weekend as organized jointly by the CM’s of both Sacramento and Reno, there were so many events to pick from in even a four day weekend that you have to make sure you try to get to as many as possible despite the time of day and the crush of events. So my advice to non-​Eliters and Eliters alike is to pick and choose events that speak to you. What do you like to drink? What do you like to eat? What places would you like to see while you’re there? Well for me this one checked off all three on the lists. I love things like people gathering and enjoying themselves with their friends over a meal while also meeting new people. I also love I said love a good brunch, especially a good eggs Benedict which is a dish that many of us cannot even aspire to make at home. And finally I love a good well thought out venue and the Unilocal Reno Elites breakfast club meeting at the Artemis Lakeside Café provided all of that.
I truly admire what my fellow Eliter from Reno, Robert has done with his club. First of all club to gather around brunch? Genius! It takes a lot of commitment and energy form him to throw himself into and event like this but he certainly did it with both feet. He not only organized a venue that made sure had enough room to accommodate enough people and the back dining room at Artemis along the beautiful lake provided just that. We got there about five minutes late, and of course the back room was packed. Robert was there to greet every single Unilocal Elite that walked through the doors of Artemis Lakefront Café as if they were the lucky members of one big family reunion. As luck or fate rather would have it there was a small two top table for my fellow Eliter and I to sit, of course it was next to a group of Eliter friends from the Bay Area and Sacramento so of course that means we all had to move our tables together for one big party.
And what a party we had! A special shout out must be made to our amazing server Victoria who I believe literally served everyone in the back dining room. My friend wanted something to enliven her meal so Victoria suggested something called a «Painkiller» with orange and coconut juice, white rum and nutmeg. And boy did it keep her awake! From there I personally had to get my own favorite whenever I order brunch out, and that my friends is a good Eggs Benedict! It’s my standard whenever I get brunch, if it is prepared well, then they get an extra star in my book. And as luck would have it Artemis had a multitude of Eggs Bene’s. Once I saw they had crab I knew that was mine. It comes with your choice of side and I got the home potatoes. I love it when you can split the cracked egg over your English muffin and this time a crab cake. You simple cannot go wrong. And for an extra two bucks I got two sausage links. To drink you know it was early so I had to get my patented peppermint mocha, which went down like butter.
Everything tasted divine, but the best part of the morning was the company we kept. Robert worked the room like the ambassador that he truly was meant to be. And we all got a chance to meet him and get to know his lovely wife Ly and learn how they became Elite Unilocalers and why they started the Monthly Breakfast Club in Reno. They were so inspirational and nice and it made me want to start my own Brunch Club in the Bay Area! My friend and I were also lucky enough to sit down with the Reno CM Michael who was gracious enough to share why he and the Sacramento CM Alex decided to start this new and hopefully annual event in order to promote Tahoe Tourism and the community as a whole! It took two years for this idea to become a reality and I know I can speak for myself and many others who attended events like this are so glad they never gave up. Here’s to another Tahoe Weekend Getaway next year! Thanks to Robert, Ly, Michael and the great people at Artemis Lakefront Café for making it all happen!

YTG 2015: #2 Favorte Event
Thank you Robert S from Reno who coordinates the MBC’s and coordinated a special event as part of the YTG 2015.
Artemis, a great restaurant sits on the lake front in a cute little lake front mall. The restaurant is large enough to host a group and yet, serve the solos or the duos in the front section of the restaurant.
The service was absolutely wonderful and coordinated. How do you feed a group as large as ours? Rather than to attempt serving everyone at the same time, order was placed by «each table»
The food was great. The coffees were wonderful. The fellowship was even better.

I wasn’t sure I was going to make it to an 8 am brunch on a Saturday morning after a late evening of partying, but I’m glad I did! The hubby and my alarm were definitely instrumental in making that happen.
When we got to Artemis Lakefront Café which is truly lakefront, there were lots of animated Unilocalers in one of the two dining areas of the café. We checked in with Robert, the host of this UYE and who does a monthly UYE brunch in Reno normally, and got seated. Eventually, a couple of Elite Sacramento Unilocalers joined us at our table (yay for new friends!), and a little later Porsche and Jason from the East Bay, and Michael, the Reno CM.
‘Twas a nice brunch! The food was very good. I had the Baklava French Toast which came with an Orange Honey Syrup, and the hubby had an omelette. The bacon was so crispy and delish. I’ll have to go back just for that! The restaurant staff handled our group size very well! Our orders came at the right time and were correct. No mess ups which is pretty amazing considering they were serving all 40+ Unilocalers and their regular patrons.
Thanks Robert for hosting the UYE! It was a nice way to start our day! Hope to join you in Reno in one of your brunch UYEs in the future!

Breakfast at 8:00 AM after a late night of partying with the crème de la crème of Unilocalers in South Lake Tahoe? I’m in! Yay for a great event held at Artemis on the Lake by the Reno Monthly Breakfast Club leader, Robert S.
I was so happy to be «in» to this event. Plus that the venue changed to an awesome Greek restaurant right on the lake’s edge from where ever it was originally made a perfect happening. Unilocalers unitedly arrived at the appointed time and were seated in a separate room. Great restaurant, we were welcomed in and started ordering immediately.
Waters, if requested, served in beautiful colbalt blue goblets, Bloody Mary or Screw Drivers abounded, great coffee and a few espressos or Turkish coffees. One of each please for us! I had the Greek breakfast. Wonderful plate of Gyro meat, sautéed veggies, pita bread, seasoned potatoes and tzatiki sauce. Brekkie mate had Eggs Benedict and deemed it perfection.
Robert did an awesome job coordinating this event as he apparently does in Reno Monthly. So much fun, great people to support him. Some of his breakfast club Unilocalers drove up from Reno that morning just to be at this event. Fantastic support! Hope someone posts a picture of the lavender chandelier.

To be honest, I was surprise that I was able to wake up in time to make it to this event after a late night event with froyo and drinking involved. Another surprise was the big turnout for the same reason. Artemis was a nice restaurant next to the beach. They were able to fit our large group in the back room.
I got a River Breakfast dish with trout in it. The fish filet was fried and came with a side of toast. The restaurant threw in some generous complimentary desserts for us. It was fun morning hanging out with Unilocalers from different cities and get to know about the communities in their cities more.
Thanks to Robert S for hosting the UYE, this was actually the second cool UYE I visited since I arrived in Tahoe, and Reno CM Michael was able to join us part way through the event after a most likely tiresome night.

So five stars means I would drive out of my way to come here.
This event really meets that criteria. Well, it wasn’t THAT far away since we were staying in South Lake Tahoe that weekend anyway, but our dining (should it be breakfasting?) companions did drive all the way up here from Reno to participate.
The venue was great. Artemis on the Lake is a comfy casual dining spot in spitting distance of the great and beautiful Lake Tahoe. The service was amazing with 50 Unilocalers descending at one time. The small table seating works perfectly as it makes the experience more intimate and really facilitates the service. The only negative was the noise level. With that many Unilocalers all talking at once, and not being a shy group, the noise level got pretty high.
The food was very good — I had my usual eggs Benedict. The eggs were a little to the soft side, but the whites were firm so it was acceptable. The Hollandaise was light and creamy. The potatoes were just the right blend of salt, spice, and crispy exterior. The Spice Merchant Coffee was amazing. Would drive all the way up here just for that.
As always, the company was the best. It was so much fun to share with the event with Unilocalers from Sacramento, Bay Area, San Diego, Salt Lake City and Hawaii. Talk about driving out of your way!
And, Robert S was the most gracious host — Did you ever get a chance to eat? These events just keep getting better and better. Thanks so much for all the hard work that goes into setting this up.

Unilocal’s Tahoe Getaway was a blast, and out of all the crazy, over the top awesome events that weekend, my favorite has got to be this MBC UYE because it epitomizes what Unilocal is all about. In a word, put simply, community. I mean come on, 50 Unilocalers filling a restaurant at 8am after a long night of partying? Unbelievable!
Robert has been organizing these MBCs for a long time now, and he’s an old pro, which showed at how well prepared both the restaurant and the attendees were here. Everyone knew exactly what to expect and the huge smiles on their faces said more than all the five star reviews in the world. But aside from being organized, Robert took the time to visit all the tables, introduce himself, get to know all the Unilocalers in attendance, and thank them all for coming. This little touch is what separates a good UYE, or even a YE, from a great one.
I won’t take any credit because the MBC is all Robert’s but maybe, just maybe, he learned a thing or two from this old CM. ;)
Now Id be lying if I said I wasn’t just a tiny bit nervous when Robert insisted on hosting this event. Heck, I may have even attempted to dissuade Robert from creating this exceptional opportunity for a few reasons. For ones, who gets up at 8am on vacation, let alone is dressed and ready to see others at that ungodly hour? And two, looking at the schedule I had a serious case of FOMO seeing all the amazing things planned and didn’t want Robert to miss any of it!
But I’m so glad Robert didn’t listen to me! It became clear that throughout the weekend that it didn’t matter what event was going on, Unilocalers would not miss an opportunity to gather together, converse, and experience the great businesses in South Lake Tahoe, and really, that’s what this is all about.
Personally, at the MBC I enjoyed talking to Porsche, Hazel, May, and JR. about UYEs and the Unilocal Reno community, and it was clear they had a tiny taste of our secret sauce and were after the recipe. I hope That between myself, Robert, and all the rest of the Unilocalers they met, they have enough to mix up something on their own now!
As Robert once put it, he enjoys the UYEs, and the fact the CMs don’t typically come, because it lets the community get together simply as friends, having a good time exiting the community together. I love that idea because it’s these real friendships that make the Unilocal community so special around the world.

I have been meaning to come to Artemis all summer since my brother raved about the food. Glad I was finally able to make it, wonderful that it was also a UYE and part of the fantastic 2015 Unilocal Tahoe Getaway!
I had the Crab Benedict and it was delicious. The homemade salsa was perfect on the eggs… and the potatoes too. I’d like a bottle of that to take home. I ordered decaf and it was pressed to order, fantastic.
The décor was lovely as was the company. Thanks to Robert S. for setting up this event and thanks to my sister, Carolynne for making me get up this early in the morning… :-)

Surprise another MBC on the road. No surprise another great pick and set up by Robert S.
While at the Tahoe Getaway Robert had his MBC at the Artemis on the lake. Since there were many in town from all over the country this had to be one of his biggest breakfast crowds.
As usual the menu was great and so was the service. It hard to serve almost 50 people at the same time. The food was delicious, different and arrive hot. I tried the Baklava French toast– wow that’s worth a drive to the lake from Reno for. It was yummy, rich and truly tasted like baklava. With the checks came some chocolate puff pasties. Also rich and delicious
They also had no problem with giving each table a check and it made it easy to take care of the bill.

Props to Reno elite-​squad member Robert S. for arranging this Reno-​style «Monthly Breakfast Club (MBC)», but on this occasion, on the road here in South Lake Tahoe, specially incorporated into the Unilocal Tahoe Getaway (YTG) 2015 Weekend!
THE SETUP
The MBC this month was hosted by the lovely restaurant: Artemis On The Lake. Not only does this spot have great food, you can’t beat it’s location, virtually on the shores of Lake Tahoe — such a beautiful locale to be dining at.
LE MENU
I sprung for the Crabs Benedict since whenever I see this breakfast offered at a reputable institution that I’ve never been to before, it is a wonderful «metric» for me to use to compare restaurants by. [In much the same way that cheese enchiladas and chili rellenos are my metric to compare Mexican restaurants by.]
On this occasion, my dish was firing on all pistons!
Unilocal FUN!
It was so cool to share the table with Unilocalers from Salt Lake City and San Diego for myself, as the other tables I’m sure were able to get to meet and introduce themselves to our fellow Unilocalers from other jurisdictions.
But not only was this occasion enjoyed by we Unilocalers, but we were graced by the presence of Javier, the Unilocal Reno Mascot (who also happened to bring Reno Community Manager, Michael T., along with him) ;)
So of course the hilarity ensued, and the picture ops continued throughout the entire breakfast experience.

THE LOWDOWN
It really doesn’t get much better than having breakfast by the shores of Lake Tahoe!

Breakfast at 8 am after a night of whiskey drinking? Yes! Strangely enough this restaurant is filled! Loud, excited helpers ready to take the day on feasted on an array of amazing Greek inspired items.
Gyro, stuffed French toast, eggs bennies, crab cakes, frittatas, fresh roared coffee and a complimentary pastry at the end of our feast!
There service is top notch– they were efficient and sweet to our growing crowd of hungry helpers. Coffee was filled fast and the décor is a cute little café with wood beams, colbalt blue glass and an amazing view of the lake. Just stunning. Inside and patio seating.
A shoutout to Robert S of Reno for arranging this lovely morning-​after event! Thanks to everyone that rolled out of bed in time to share some morning coffee!

Great turn out!
Glad I was able to wake up early enough to make it to breakfast with the other earlybirds (breakfast was scheduled at 8:00a)… a bunch of great people representing Reno, Sacramento, East Bay, San Diego and even Salt Lake City UT, an event organized by Robert S of Reno!
Originally planned at the Red Hut Café but unfortunately they didn’t take reservations and there was some 40+ of us that said «we’re in!» so the venue was moved to Artemis Lakefront Café 500 feet up Ski Run Blvd. Arrived to see almost everyone there… and we arrived on time! Welcomed and greeted by Robert, who happened to be Ly’s hubby (I did not know this). Sat at the same table with new friends from the East Bay (San Leandro), Michael and Hazel, then Jason F and Porsche joined our table. Finally Michael, Reno’s CM, arrived (though tired) glad he was able to join us.
Had the steak and eggs (steak came in a skewer, kabob style). Delicious breakfast. Hubby had the Build-​your-​Own omelette. No complaints, filled us up. Our server was very attentive to our table. Great service! We had a sweet treat at the end… we were served and enjoyed chocolate puffs!
During the course of our breakfast we recorded a short video sending birthday greetings to North Bay’s CM, Kevin B. Today is his birthday and all of us gave a birthday shout out to Kevin! That was awesome and I hope Michelangelo was able to post it in Kevin’s Facebook wall.
After the event some of us headed towards the dock and took more pictures. What a fun bunch! Love, love, our Unilocal family! Thank you, Robert S, for organizing our first opportunity to join your breakfast club, SLT style!

This is my first UYE to attend in South Lake Tahoe! Thank you Robert S for putting this on as it was purrrfect! The food at Artemis Café is delicious and the venue is simply lovely. I love greek food and I also love breakfast… so there you have it! Artemis café has a delicious breakfast and brunch menu and the portions are quite filling. I ordered the Gyro breakfast pita wrap with eggs, seasoned potatoes, freshly made tzatziki sauce (I hope I spelled that right), and a side of applewood smoked bacon. The pita was warm and soft and there was so much food stuffed the pita they actually serve it foil wrapped to keep it rolled up as a stuffed pita should be.
I love the cobalt blue glasses and goblets as this provides a classy touch to the casual beach front atmosphere at Artemis Café. I would have loved to sit out on the deck, however, this would have required the heat lams to be fired up on this breezy and brisk fall morning. Thus our group absconded the entire back room of this quaint little café. We all enjoyed the greek breakfast entrees and were provided with greek puff pastry dessert a gratis. You rock Robert S!!! I would definitely come back to the Artemis Café in the future.
