My wife visited Dr. Rupp due to some hip pain. We were seen on time at his Carson office. Dr. Rupp was very personable. He took an x-ray and told her she had arthritis. He explained all her options and we selected a steroid type injection into the hip socket. He said because it need to be injected into a specific area he referred us to his colleague who uses ultrasound to properly place the meds. About a week later after insurance approval we saw Dr. Finnoff at the South Tahoe office. Our appointment was on time and we were brought into his office. He was extremely personable and one of the new type of doctors who talks to you, informs you of what is going on and what to expect. He answered all our questions before we asked. So far we’ve seen two of their doctors and both were excellent. Hopefully we wont have to go back but we’ll feel comfortable doing so.

On vacation and after a ski mishap I called Tahoe Orthopedic group and had an appointment within 1hour. Dr. Swanson saw me after X-rays and ran various tests to determine what ailed me. He was friendly, professional and clear. Great doctor, great practice…

$ 312 cash pay, no discount, to be told your diagnosis, less than 20 minutes, seen only by a PA(physician assistant), and then they tried to funnel me into Barton’s system for a steroid shot. A month later after I got a steroid shot off hill, they called to remind me of an appointment they took the liberty to make for me, to tell me the results of my steroid shot, uh, duh, I’m well aware of the results of my steroid shot, it is, my body. I don’t have any insurance, could you be a little more considerate of trying to get money off me, it’s not a 3rd party paying!

I suppose that I would rather break a bone in Tahoe than get a terminal illness or have a serious emergency. While I do not trust our ER or medical facilities one bit, I do trust Dr. Orr, whose clinic and partners happen to share the duty of being the US ski team’s orthopedic surgeons as well. Thus, with my very«messy» radial fracture, I feel very secure and in safe hands.
