Staples the Office Superstore

Very, very disappointed with the service here. Rude people like the lady with the gray hair working in printing should not be allowed to work in customer service. I understand they were booked and their self serve system was down, but the way this lady told me they can’t help me was unacceptable. She was rude and arrogant. If you hate people (especially on Christmas) please don’t work in customer service. I take my work business here too but after today I would try to avoid this store at all cost. Have had couple of previous bad customer service experiences here too.

I go to the print center a few times a year for printing and UPS as it is a very convenient location. UPS quotes are around 2 – 3 times to high at least on 2 different occasions. I went to U.S.P.S. for a much, much lower rate.
The printing department prints on the wrong paper or doesn’t deliver around half the time claiming a broken printer. Corrupt to the core.

This store used to be excellent in terms of customer service and merchandise. I have noticed it has really slipped in both areas in the past year or so. Short of bothering the clerk (who is checking out customers) it is almost impossible to find anyone on the floor to answer any questions. Whoever is doing their ordering could be doing a much better job. The number of empty slots on the shelves is ridiculous, particularly in the areas of printer ink and mobile accessories. There seems to be a large staff turnover there and often the associates do not know answers to questions about their products.

This place is ok. But the prices are REALY EXPENSIVE !!

Do not use this place for any copy/​printing needs. I work for an attorney and needed to have a case printed, bound into volumes (the volumes were already separated out into individual documents), and shipped.
First, I tried calling to get a quote and some info. I was on hold for 20 minutes before hanging up to place my order online. I paid the rush fee to have my order ready to pick up by 4p.m. I placed the order at noon.
*Note: when you call you get options, press 2 for copy/​print center. I pressed 2. It rang for 8 minutes when someone picked up and then goes oh, let me transfer you to copy center. So the caller menu doesn’t do squat.*
I called at 3:30 to check the status of my order, was on hold for 20 mins AGAIN, the same employee who had first answered picked up again and took my name and number to be called back. I was called back in less than 5 minutes. I was told my order was just being started.
The girl on the phone, Olivia, then said my order was confusing. The instruction she was confused on was that one document needed to have a blue cover page. She seemed to think this meant print the document on all blue pages. Who doesn’t know what a cover page is??? The she says «good thing I called.» EXCUSE ME! I CALLED. TWICE.
At this point I decided to go down there. I talked to the staff and explained my needs more clearly for them and then when I was satisfied they were doing the job I said I’d be back to pick it up when they opened the next morning. Now it is 4:30 (job was supposed to be done around 4), but since we missed the USPS pick up that day anyway.
9a.m. the next day– I am waiting when they open. I go in and my job is only half done! This girl stopped working on it as soon as I left the store! USELESS. I waited in the store for an hour for my job to be finished up. Finally it’s ready and boxed and packed (by me!) to go. I ask for a manager to refund the rush fee I paid and she does ($ 13 — thanks, I feel so much better).
So, headache over, right? NO. I get an email from the court saying the last volume is missing 50 pages from the middle of it! On all four copies! The document I sent had all the pages (I triple checked) and I have no idea how their printing could just randomly leave out pages in the middle.
I will probably have to go back there and redo this last part to be resent WITH ALL ITS PAGES.
Bottomline: they don’t troubleshoot, aren’t detail oriented, nonchalant customer service (because they’re just so busy, excuses excuses). Don’t get work done here if it’s something important. Or even if it’s not. Because the staff doesn’t give a damn if your job gets done correctly or well. Or at all if you’re not standing right there.

On January 19^th 2015 at 3pm, we had the Absolute WORST service ever! My husband and I were looking for a tablet and NOT ONE person could help us. One supervisor said to just read the specs on the cards and another staff member just ignored us. The «Easy Tech» was asked to come over and help us and he would not. We left and didn’t get a tablet or the other products we had in our hands. We can get office supplies else where.

I’ve come here twice to send things from their shipping outlet. Both times the helpfulness of the staff was lacking. No urgency when they have a line and it doesn’t seem as though they’ve been trained well. Customer service is weak as well.

There are four groups of customers in the store. There are six employers on the floor. Two of them are sitting on the ground outside, two of them are lingering around the registers, one of them is riding a cart, and the final one is in and out of the back rest and break rooms. All of the customers are queued up for the «Copy & Print Center,» which offers no self services.
You draw your own conclusions.

I have gone into this store numerous times for various printing needs. The young lady that always helps me Jasmine is very knowledgeable and she does a great job. It is hard to find people now days that are as kind and caring as her, this is the type of person you want working for your company. My latest business cards that I got printed looked great they are exactly what I ordered and they were ready earlier than I had anticipated. I feel that I always get taken care of here and will continue to go back and Jasmine should get a raise or at least a company lunch she really makes this an easy choice for me to return.

We had around 350 simple flyers printed up on letter size regular paper– and had a bill of $ 185.00 !!!
ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE DOLLARS !!!
WHAT A RIP-​OFF THIS STORE IS !!!
I will say the young lady who helped us was great and did a great job but … WHAT A HOSE JOB for the PRICE !!
Screw Them ! NEVER AGAIN !!
We could have bought a new printer and extra ink cartridges for that price !
That was the LAST TIME FOR STAPLES FOR ME !!!

Only print shop in town! For that it gets 5 stars. Gals inside are always friendly and speedy. There’s no computer to do your own uploading and printing, but a quick forward to their printing email address and they do the rest for you. It works! Thanks!

THE MOST WORTHLESS STAFF ON THE PLANET
I have encountered complete incompetence every time I have visited this store. I’ll share one particularly bad experience. I went to the store with a flash drive to get some prints made. The guy at the copy center explained that he was busy, and it will be about an hour wait. I told him that it was fine, and that I’d be back in the morning to pick up my order. The next afternoon, I drove back to the store, and a manager was working at the copy center that day. I explained the situation, and he said that the job was not done but he could do it that day. I explained that I had stuff to do and that I needed the prints that day. The manager surprised me by offering to deliver the prints to my house after his shift was over. I was happy with this solution, so I went to do what I had to do without any worries. The prints never arrived. I actually did not hear back from them for about three months when I received a telephone message saying that my job is done, and I can come pick it up. I am really curious about the hiring process of this place because they do an excellent job weeding out competent people.

We had a great experience at the Staples in South Lake Tahoe. When the wifi router we wanted wasn’t in stock, the team at staples immediately gave us the version that was one level above without extra cost! That’s what I call customer service!
In addition, Randy was great in helping us decide what router to choose based on our needs.
Great experience overall.

Cant get copies of anything in this department, i have tried for the last four weeks. Going in and waiting for hours just to find out that the emails i sent got deleted and/​or removed. Then put to the back of the line till i send the emails again just to find out that the emails cant even be viewed or opened. So went back in with a flash card but told it’ll be a week till they are printed then getting a call saying they lost the flash drive and the prints were never printed… Over and over for the past four weeks and going in three to four times a week to see if there is any changes to management or customer service finally today i gave up…

Certainly glad to have a Staples out here. I came in there looking for colored pens, and they had exactly what I need. The lady who directed me was friendly and had some nice smalltalk. My friend needed to fax something, and was able to get to this Staples in a pinch. It’s nice to know it’s here. Also, there’s plenty of parking.

That really wasn’t easy. At all.
South Lake Tahoe really doesn’t have options when it comes to office supplies and big (ger) box printing services. I dropped off a print job of 100 color copies this afternoon, and as far as I know I was one of three customers in the entire store. My print technician, Sadie, happily accepts the job and tells me the project will be done in 30 minutes — she will call when the job is done. Great… right?
An hour later, I am twiddling my thumbs around town waiting for my phone to ring. With no avail, I call Staples to check in. Two calls get hung up when I am trying to reach the print department.
Two hours later, things don’t seem to have changed one bit. «Oh well uh, right after you left we had some printer issues.» The employees start bickering over who gets their lunch break.
Nearly three hours later, with a stack of unnecessary notebooks and licorice all-​sorts in hand, a completely unorganized pile of prints gets put down at the register. No discount for the completely botched quote on time, and it turns out that not everything got printed. Really though, shop somewhere else if you can.
At least the licorice was good.

I’m not a huge fan of this Staples store. I mean, they did not wrong me or anything like that. In fact, the lady that helped me out was really kind and a great help! I just don’t think there is anything special about this particular store… in fact, I think they’re in need of a renovation to be honest – both internally and externally. If you’re in need for office supplies and you’re in town and can’t wait to Amazon it, then this isn’t a bad option at all.

I own and run 2 businesses in Tahoe, both of which need a lot of office supplies… I get it all at Staples, and I’m stoked on it. Sure the prices aren’t always the cheapest, but the rewards program is awesome, and I’ve found that in the end it makes up for the slightly higher prices that you might find online. They have pretty much everything, and I’ve always gotten good service. One of the keys is to check their ads, they have some killer deals every once in a while…

Not the cleanest or most organized staples I’ve ever been in, but they have great rewards programs and it’s the only office supply store left in town!

In the shakedown between office superstores a few years ago, Staples emerged as the winner, and Office Depot slunk out of town only to have its building now occupied by Longs Drugs. I’m not entirely sure it was the customer service element of Staples that contributed to its victory as much as its pricing and rewards programs.
That said, if you need general office supplies in this town, you’ll likely find it at Staples. Whether the latest crop of young, pimply polo-​shirted staff can help you find said product is another story entirely. While our office is literally around the corner from Staples, I tend to order our office supplies online, primarily because UPS is then responsible for schlepping a case of paper upstairs and not me. But for photocopying needs and the random item (blank cds, shipping tape), I’ll walk over here. The caliber of the photocopying is ok, but I wouldn’t get business cards printed here.
