Really nice place! Everything is really good! Ask for the owner, Hec, especially if you are an attractive lady!,. If you know what I mean,!!!

I bought my first mtn bike at this shop and I love it, however, after spending thousands of dollars in this store, went in to have my bike tuned. Wyatt told me it would be $ 50 bucks and it would be like new. He also told me my boyfriend was undercharged $ 200 for his $ 3000 bike the week before and asked for payment.(which I paid). My bike was in the shop for almost a week before it was ready(even though it only was supposed to take a couple of days). I went in, paid the money, he gave me my bike which looked filthy. When I asked why the chain was so black and dirty Wyatt said its the cheap oil they use, when it was obvious they didn’t do a thing to the bike! This is fraud and if it weren’t for hec this shop would only receive one star. I have been in there when hec the owner was there, and he was super nice and helpful. Unfortunately the guys working in that shop act like customers are a nuisance, and after being charged $ 50 for a tune when all they appeared to do was store my bike for a week, gonna be giving my business to Gary bell. He tuned my boyfriends bike and it actually looks like they cleaned it, And runs great. My bike still makes the same noises it did before the tune. Sorry hec, get some people in there who want to do business.

Scott was super accommodating for our party. We called ahead and they had just enough bikes for us all to use. We made the most of the snowy weather and got our fat bike rides on! Brought the bikes back a little early and he gave us a great deal! Plan on coming back for the slope ride in the future and We are recommending to friends.

I had the best customer experience buying my new bike here. Wyatt and Hec patiently answered all of my questions and recommended which bike would be most suitable for me. I couldn’t be happier with my new bike! On my next visit, I brought in my older bike to repair and tune it up for the playa. Wyatt went out of his way to find a missing part that I needed and helped me out by finding a less expensive way to fix my bike. Wyatt is the best! I was really impressed how quickly and efficiently my bike was repaired. South Shore Bikes has exceeded my expectations. I recommend them to all of my friends in Tahoe. Thanks guys!

I rolled into South Lake Tahoe on day 2 of a massive bicycle ride from Yosemite to Seattle. My knees were in rough shape and I needed to get some new parts for my bike. I called ahead after receiving a ridiculous quote from another shop that shall remain anonymous and Troy from South Shore was super helpful right off the bat. I could tell he was the guy I needed to see. He gave me incredible service and I would highly recommend South Shore Bikes to anyone in the Lake Tahoe area, local or on vacation.

Hec, you have such a great bike shop, and it could be so much better if you had people working for you that actually talked to customers. I went to this shop 3 times in the past 2 weeks to get my wife a new FSMTB, and was completely ignored by the staff every time. Ended up going to Sports LTD to get her a bike. Would have MUCH preferred to buy one here, but apparently the staff doesn’t want to sell bikes.

It really pains me to give them anything but a good review, I have fond memories of the owners. But I’ve been to the shop 3 times hoping talk with someone about purchasing a new bike. I have bought several bikes from Hector throughout the years while he was in different locations, but now he has found success in his new location apparently and hired absolute A holes to run his shop. Unless you are a blonde woman with boobs renting a bike for 20 bucks, don’t bother dropping any real money on buying a bike there. Again, pains me to write such a review, I would tell Hector himself, but he is rarely there and his replacements won’t give me the time of the day.

Rented a bike here for my boyfriend to take on a road ride. Shop is stocked with goodies and staff is awesome and friendly. Tons of people showing up in the morning for bike rentals and they still got everyone helped out quickly. They even helped us map out a route avoiding traffic and just right for the amount of climbing we wanted to do.

I have lived in South Lake Tahoe for 3 years and was hooked on my old bike shop in the Bay Area. Anyway, I decided that its time to find a closer shop and when I needed some work done on my road bike, I took it in tho South Shore Bikes. I was impressed at how fast the work was done and the price was very affordable. I guess my old bike shop and I can part ways!

bikes were in really good shape they seem like they were all less than 1 year old. These bikes are at least $ 400…I liked it so much that I looked into buy one when I got home but they’re a little out of my budget. So, the quality of bike you’re renting from are not some cheap $ 100 cruisers. The location is great, as its at the start of a trail and they give you a little map… if you take your time you’re looking to spend about 4 hours so it can get pricy if you add it up. the price seems to be in line with the rest of Tahoe. I didn’t really research for the cheapest price, but rather the location. So overall i’m happy with the price, location, and costumer service.

This place is a good example of what excellent service is all about. Had a small issue with my mobility scooter and was a little hesitant to ask if they could fix it since it was not related to bikes. Since we were on vacation, I had no tools and was in a bit of a jam. Talked to Bodie and he fixed us right up. Highly recommend this business.

In a word, Mark. I walked in with 2 bikes, hoping for a shop miracle, a last minute please can you lube up both of my bikes so I can ride today and oh adjust one bike for my boyfriend please? Not only did Mark say yes, he gave me some really valuable advice for my road bike maintenance. The shop was clean, well organized and with a plethora of mountain biking accessories. And the owner told me about some great biking events they were holding soon. All in all, a great experience. Thank you mark!

This is probably the best bike shop in South Lake Tahoe. They have a good selection of parts and accessories. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

Great bike shop, great service! I would have gave a 5 star review, but I didn’t like the debit/credit card receipt with a tip line. Why a tip? I don’t understand this new trend in South Lake Tahoe with a tip line on receipts, it’s popping up all over. You somewhat feel forced to leave a tip.

I’ve just recently gotten into cycling, and after riding on borrowed bikes for the past year, I recently bought my first road bike, but it came without pedals. I went in to South Shore Bikes and told them I needed pedals. They asked me what kind, and I told them basket pedals. At that point, the guy could have sold me a pair of basket pedals and I would ahve walked away happy. Instead, Mark started peppering me with questions, figuring out what kind of cyclist I am, etc. He took the time to get to know me and figure out what I really needed. I ended up not getting basket pedals, but something that is much better for me long-term. Coincidentally, I spent more money buying other things I knew I would eventually want/need. I became a big fan of this place. I’ll be back!

What a great place to grab beach cruisers and go for a bike ride! Price was reasonable, $ 10 an hour ~ and they’re not hardcore where you feel as if you were on a timer. Our bike dude Wyatt made sure we were all comfortable, and made adjustments to each of our needs. Some girls were fitted with baskets, others had seats raised ~ I think there were a couple of horns purchased as if 10 girls screaming down the street wasn’t enough! Wyatt was very nice, he gave us directions to a local restaurant, and even gave us the bike trail route. Now, being with NINE other women on this bike ride didn’t make us the most attentive bunch, but somehow we managed around town with nobody dying or hurt ~ hell … we didn’t even lose anybody! If you want to soak up the sights in Tahoe, South Shore Bikes is the place to start!

GREAT place to rent bikes! I was in South Lake Tahoe for the weekend and found this place on Unilocal.A group of four of us wanted to bike a trail in the area so we went to check out this place. We all rented Isla Vista beach cruisers. The bikes were EXCELLENT for our leisure ride. They were in great condition, comfortable, tires pumped, etc. The guy who attended to us checked us in 10 mins after we started. He showed us on his map a great ride that lasted about the time frame in which we wanted to ride. It was perfect. Our one hour Sunday bike ride was beautiful. The trail took us through Camp Richardson. Once you pass through the camp the trail gets quieter and much more woodsy and prettier. Next time I probably won’t rent but bring my own bike on the trail. I will definitely bring my bikes here to be worked on before I use them again since it’s been awhile that I’ve ridden them. But if I ever decided to rent a bike again for a leisure ride I would also come back to this place. At $ 10/hr it’s not too bad, but a well deserved 5 stars for prompt, helpful service.
