Great tasting room. The back yard was beautiful for sitting and chatting and enjoying a glass of your newly found favorite. I very much enjoyed the Tahoe Red. Surprisingly enjoyed the rose, which usually isn’t my style but it was delicious on this sunny summer day.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the caliber of wines available at Picchetti in Lake Tahoe. Having attended college in Napa Valley I have been spoiled by amazing red wine and the Picchetti Zin definitely lands on my top 10 list. Cameron and Judi will provide a generous pour and a few fun tales for your tasting pleasure. Then walk less than 100 yards to watch the sun set on the lake. This place is a win-win for all.

I was pretty surprised with the service at this tasting. The older woman behind the counter was super hip and funny. Although she was the only one in the little cottage she was able to maintain four different groups plus a phone call with no complications. We chose the $ 10 tasting of 5 different wines. Chardonnay Leslie’s Estate Santa Cruz Mountains 2011 Tempranillo grace vineyard El Dorado county 2012 vintage Malbec Shoe maker vintage Paso Robles 2011 vintage Tahoe red n/v We picked up the Chard for $ 38 and my fiancée got one of the Tahoe as well. Fantastic experience and would love to come back again. Additional parking in rear.

We stopped in this winery for a tasting right before they were supposed to close. Since we were the last customers for the day, the guy let us taste all of the wines for the price of 5 wines. We really enjoyed chatting with him and his recommendations while we were in Tahoe. We bought a couple bottles of wine and really enjoyed them back at our condo. Wine was a bit pricey, but what winery isn’t that way?!?

My experience here was fantastic! And I swear it’s not because I got slightly buzzed! I really am glad I decided to stop here and indulge in some wine tasting. The shop is right off Harrison ave on your way to the casinos, and its just walking distance from the lake. This place is just like a cozy little cabin in the woods– completely cute and charming. They offer a wine tasting for $ 10.00 which includes your choice of 5 different wines. If you purchase a bottle you will be reimbursed half of the wine tasting. Usually they do the full refund from what I’m used to each there own. I was assisted this day by an incredibly friendly and just as charming lady by the name of Judy. She was an absolute pleasure to chat with and really added to my wine tasting experience. As for the wines, I was very pleased with what I tried. I tried there Chardonnay– which was nice and crisp with nice settle hints of oak. I also tried one of the red blends(can’t recall the name). Their Zinfandel was quite nice. I tried the Pino Noir which I am usually not in to, however, it quite pleasantly decent. The Cabernet Savignon was my favorite and was absolutely fantastic! Especially considering the fact I’m more of a Zin drinker my self. Overall, warm cozy environment. Charming service. And though I do agree that the wines are quite pricey, I thought most of them tasted outstanding and If I could have afforded it, I would probably have bought a few. Oh I will return on my next venture up :)

On the expensive side but really nice wines. Try the Pinot Noir and Cabernet. Take a glass to their beautiful backyard and relax.

Love the brut rose, rose, Pinot, petite Syrah, zin and Cabs. Great value for the quality. The tasting room is very nice with parking in the back. The staff is very friendly. We always stop by and get several bottles for our stay in Tahoe.

I was skeptical at first. A random winery in the middle of Lake Tahoe? I didn’t know what to expect. I only tried their red wines, and was really impressed! Delicious! We got a bottle of the Zin to take home, there wasn’t one I tried that I didn’t like. The tasting room was cozy, the staff was friendly and knowledgable. We made friends with other patrons there, and the staff was kind enough to let us sit and talk while she closed up shop around us. They even let my little dog curl up by the fire. It was a really great experience.

Excellent collection of wines here. They make it all in Cupertino where they also have a tasting room. My faves include the tempranillo, zin, and tuscan. There is a nice indoor bar for tasting and a gorgeous garden for sipping. Only $ 5 per person which is waived if you buy. Go have fun here.

We booked Picchetti for our wedding ceremony and reception, so this rating is totally based on that and not their usual $ 5 tasting! My husband and I have a special place in our hearts for Picchetti Winery — their main location is in Cupertino(about 5 miles from where we live here in San Jose), and while we were dating we joined the wine club and visited frequently for hikes and tastings. My husband proposed to me out of the blue on one of those hikes, and we knew that we wanted to have some Picchetti wine at our reception. When we visited the South Lake Tahoe tasting room on our tour of potential venues, we were thrilled by how perfect it would work for us — the back garden was pretty, the wine was thrown in with the venue cost, and the fact that it was Picchetti was even better! Cameron and the rest of the staff up there are really easy-going and flexible, which was awesome for us(who wanted to DIY a bunch of things to avoid paying more than we wanted to for a wedding that wasn’t really«us»), but if you’re someone who needs to be able to coordinate at all times of day and gets upset if people don’t respond to emails and phone calls instantly, you may get a little frustrated. They don’t always keep the back garden completely«ship-shape» as well(which makes sense, since they don’t do that many weddings), but they WILL get it cleaned up before the event! The day itself was amazing — Cameron and crew poured wine for hours in the tasting room, set up and broke down a good deal of the equipment, and helped coordinate with our vendors(although I should reiterate that they don’t do the wedding planning, and so you should plan on either hiring a wedding planner yourself or coordinating with friends and family like we did). Our families did a lot of the decorating, although we didn’t need much because the garden is so beautiful, and when I finally got to see it at the beginning of the ceremony I was floored by how gorgeous it all looked. I felt like I was in the land of A Midsummer Night’s Dream! To sum up — Picchetti was exactly the sort of place we wanted to have a wedding, and they didn’t disappoint us! Cozy, pretty, in-the-trees and out-of-the-wind fun! Thank you so much for making our wedding amazing!

The only winery you will find in town when its cold and snowing outside. I came here with my wife to this nice warm cozy place. The wines were good my favorite was the tempranillo and the port. The man who poured for us was very chilled laid back and knowledgeable of the wines produced by Picchetti family. The prices here our very reasonable. I will stop by here again the next time I’m in town.

I had some time on my hands while waiting for my friend to get off of work. Tired of the so so shopping at the resort, I decided to check out the wine tasting options for the area. The wine tasting room is in a qaint little cottage off of South Lake Tahoe Blvd. The winery is actually in Northern California, but they have a special tasting room in Tahoe. The inside is really cozy. A little fireplace and a great bar is on the inside. If it was warmer, I would have loved to have sat on the back patio. Tasting run about $ 5, but you get the fee waived if you buy a bottle of wine. The wine server, Claire was really nice. She was really great at suggesting different wines and starting converstations. My favorite was a dessert wine — it tasted just like hazelnuts!

Cute tasting room, fair price, and great customer service. My husband and I stopped by here while we were in town for the weekend. The tasting room is small, but well kept with an assortment of merchandise to keep you entertained if it is too cold to take your tasting out the back yard area(it was too cold for us!). The tasting is $ 5 for 5 pours, not bad. The wine servers were both very nice and friendly. This is a great little place to stop in while in town.

An unexpected chance to wine taste in Tahoe. A charming location which is also a wedding venue. $ 5 for tasting which is credited toward a wine purchase. Our pourer was a family member of the owners and was quite knowledgeable. Enjoyed their reds; purchased a Pinot Noir for $ 36 which obviously is not an every-day wine for this bargain hunter.

I was super happy to see a place to do tastings close to where we were staying in South Lake and we cruised over on Black Friday to check it out. $ 5 tasting fee, collected up front. We were the only ones in there, so it felt a little weird to have the fee collected up front… Im used to it being either collected at the end or waived all together. The wines were lovely and the employee opened up the cab that was supposed to only be available to wine club members, and it was very, very nice. The pricers were on par with smaller boutique wineries, and their port is sold in full size 750ml bottles. Overall I give it a thumbs up.

Husband was surprised to discover a tasting room in South Lake Tahoe. Clayton was quite friendly. The winery is actually in Cupertino, CA so the wines were mostly from Santa Cruz and Santa Clara. The tasting fee was $ 5 for 5 tastes, refunded with a purchase. We bought the Tahoe Red as much for the bottle as for the taste

Was excited to hear there was a tasting room in Lake Tahoe. Adorable tasting room with a fireplace, wine merchandise, and a very welcoming feel. Chris was our pourer and he was so friendly and informative. You could really tell he loved his job. My favorite wines: 07 Sangiovese 05 Vino Di Vicino(3 different vineyards Cab Sauv) 07 Teroldego, fantastic such good acidity. nice and juicy. 07 Port, medium body good viscosity. comes in a 750ml bottle. Will visit each time I am in Tahoe!

I’m a bit of a wino, and living in what I consider to be the best part of California’s wine country I do my fair share of wine tasting. I’d say Pichetti’s wines are consistently good(not always great), but in this neck of the woods it’s certainly the best around. Our pourer was super friendly and knowledgable about their large selection of wines. It’s five dollars for any five pours off a large list, so you can choose your own adventure if you’re more into reds than whites, if you like dessert wines, etc. Our pourer also told stories about a bear crashing a wedding ceremony in the woodsy patio area in back… which I think makes for a unique big day. Definitely worth a stop as part of your South Lake Tahoe itinerary!

It’s snowing in Tahoe, the kind of snow where it’s nice to be cozied up inside with a nice hot cup of cocoa, near a fireplace, and under a blanket. Of course, that only works if you have such a place to cozy up in. When you’re visiting and staying at a hotel, sometimes you just need to get out! The locals’ magazine had a little spread on wine tasting rooms in the area, and I remember driving past Picchetti Winery on the main drag. We’re the only car parked and when the door opens, we get a holler that he’ll be with us in a moment. No rush I’m thinking as I wander throughout the room checking out their available wines for tasting and little wine-related knick knacks for sale. For $ 5, you get to taste 6 of their wines. The guy asked what kind of wine we liked and he did his best to accommodate. Since I like the sweet stuff, he definitely had to struggle with me a bit, but definitely gave me some winners. He was very knowledgeable about each of the wines and seemed very excited to share the story of each kind and the company itself.(And his personal favorites too.) Who doesn’t appreciate a person who talks about the business like it’s their own with the same kind of fondness? And he wasn’t pushy about the sales part either, rather sharing what restaurants allow guests to bring their wines in w/o a corkage fee. If you have some down time, take some time out for some wine tasting. Sure, it wasn’t on the agenda, but you might walk out with a bottle of some really nice wine for dinner that night.
