Lines, lines and more lines — oh my! I liked the area for the festival, the tree’s all around were gorgeous; however, parking was a nightmare and the layout of the festival itself left something to be desired. If you wanted to buy food or beer you had to buy tickets. They did have several booths going but the lines never seemed to end and were always super long. If you wanted a beer there was 1 beer tent and you stood in a crazy long line. I would guess that you stood in this line for like 30 minutes. Then if you wanted food you stood in another insanely long line. And, oh my, I really hope that you didn’t need to go to the restroom badly because that line was just nutty. I do expect some lines when you go to a large festival but these lines were just out of hand. There was a little craft tent area. It was very basic. There was a German band. I wasn’t aware that Bön Jovi’s «Living on a Prayer» was an Octoberfest song. Very interesting version to say the least. All in all it wasn’t the best festival I have ever been to and I am not sure that I would return.

Paul did his best to make this event great and this is no reflection on him in any way. but the Octoberfest lines were just too much for all of us. One insanely long line for each different type of food and another one just as long for beer made it impossible to have hot food and cold beer at the same time. It was one or the other. And if you needed to use the restroom that was another 20 – 30 minute line. Lines are not fun! They just aren’t. While I would not return to Octoberfest at Camp Richardson I do still recommend trying out Paul’s next Beer club at any other venue.

Sorry, I have to agree with Paul on this. There were way too many people at the Oktoberfest event. Parking was horrible. It consisted mostly of standing in line to get tickets($ 2 per ticket). Stand in another line to get poor quality«German» food(7 tickets = $ 14). Stand in yet another line to get a beverage(3 tickets = $ 6 for a small plastic cup of low quality beer), stand in another line to use one of the port-a-potties(free but no thanks). Not sure what the band was, but the music was not German. They were singing a Mexican ballad as we left. OOOOHKAAAAAY. One star extra for getting to hang with my friends and for the staff at the event who were polite and maintained a positive attitude. Never never again.

October 3, 2015 Saturday — 3PM for beer and food Atmosphere — 1 star Food — 3 stars Event — 3 stars Background — Tahoe Getaway and I get to host an event! Awesome, I was so excited to do this. Atmosphere — The setting at Camp Richardson is beautiful and to me that is when the good ends. I was lucky I was there earlier in the day for Rum Runners and did not leave, but the parking and the traffic was horrible. Perhaps they should run a shuttle service. This was the start of the lines. At 3PM the lines to get tickets, the Oktoberfest cash, was probably 40 to 50 people deep. They had one like for the brats, another line for pretzels and deserts. The beer line was 40 to 50 around 3PM. The beer line started a one line which then split into two which had two serving areas, just too slow. I am wrong it was not just beer, it was the ciders and the shot line too. It was just one like after another. The«beer» line by 4PM was probably 75 people deep. Port A Pottie lines were just as long. The music was not near the beer so you could not enjoy that easily. I did though hear the Oompah band playing Bön Jovi. Oh my. Food Drinks — They had six beers to select from, but not one beer from Germany, and only two Oktoberfest beers. They had St. Archer’s IPA, and everyone knows I love a good IPA but this is not the event for an IPA. I have learned it makes a great brat better, but I did not have a chance to eat any of their brats. Food — I had to get some food and I picked the short line for the giant pretzel. It was a giant and probably too much for me to eat. But I did it! Event — The employees at the event were great. I think I failed. I had six of my regular attendees, and saw three other Unilocalers and said hi and hand out red bead to them. Clearly other people attended the event but I did not get to meet them. I am glad they had a good time, but for me this event did not live up to my standards. Future — Yeah I have experienced better, I will not host Oktoberfest here again.

Debated whether I should go here because we were already drinking from the previous event. Well, there’s alcohol so we decided to go again and check it out: D Met some more awesome people; fellow Californians, Elites from Florida, and others across the nation which was pretty cool! I’ve never been a fan of beer but the past events have been amazing with all kinds of beer!

Positive vibes and scrumptious suds! Decent German pretzels and strudels. I had the very hoppy Archer brew and a hefty Hef. Lots of fun Bavarian costumery on the beer seekers. Gorgeous location under the tall pine trees. Fun crafts to browse and buy. Live Music! 66 degree sunshine, crisp Lake Tahoe air. A great time all around!
