Went to the emerald bay location. The people there were awesome. Very laid back, but make sure you have and know everything you need to know. Prices are really good. Thought we would have needed two hours to see a lot of stuff, but one hour worked great for us. The bay is beautiful to cruise around. Check out the island and then get ready for a hike back to your car.

We went to south Lake Tahoe on sept 12. My wife and I were first time kayakers and the staff at Pope beach on 12th and 13 sept were extremely nice and warm. They gave us free kayaking lessons and gave us tips about what to see around south Lake Tahoe. We did paddle boating and kayaking for a very reasonable price. We went back on Sunday 13th sept and they even offered us a free paddle boat ride. Amazing staff. They made our vacation memorable. If you are visiting south Lake Tahoe, contact kayak Tahoe for all kayaking needs.

We took the Kayak tour of Emerald Bay. The staff was friendly and the guides were very knowledgeable about the area. We toured the whole bay and got to stop at the island in the middle as well as the beach. The water was so clear that we could see a shipwreck under the water on the way back. Only complaint was that we had to help haul the kayaks out of the water and up a hill when we were done. There were some smaller/older people in our group and this was tough for them.

Top notch!!! This company has kayaking at 5 locations. I called in advance and got the scoop– the woman on the phone said we can’t make same day reservations but recommended to get there early in the morning to avoid the crowds. It’s first come first serve. She said Nevada Beach would probably be least crowded, followed by Baldwin Beach. Emerald Bay gets most crowded. My friends and I were not in a mood to waste time waiting so we just headed for Nevada Beach. Just navigate to Nevada Beach via google maps. Parking is $ 8. Follow the signs for the Beach rather than the Campgrounds once you’re in. There were 6 of us so we did 32-person kayaks. $ 35/hour– $ 17.50/person, since we just did 1 hour. Life vests are supplied, and the kayak worker guy goes through a quick crash course on the paddles and correct form before putting you on the boat. 1-hour I’d say is good enough to get«my fill» so to speak. We admired some beautiful houses along the lake. The lake is filled with standup paddle-boarders and fellow kayakers, and just people in the water. Beyond the limits of where you can kayak, there are several boats out and about as well. After we kayaked, we just lay by the beach to dry off and enjoy the sun– and it was super chill! Finally, the guy who ran the kayak rentals took wonderful selfies of himself when we asked him to take photos of us. So I will include those with my review. Enjoy!

I have lived in California for over 45 years and been to Tahoe many times, but finally decided to kayak Emerald Bay and I can’t believe I have never done this before. It’s a must to do. We hiked the trail down from the Vikingsholm location and arrived at the kayak rental area. Since it was busy, the wait was about 40 minutes so we walked over to the small gift shop for some ice cream(positive reviews for that spot too). Three of us rented single kayaks and we went around Emerald Bay and eventually onto Fayettes Island where we walked around for about 15 minutes. You just need to pull your kayak onshore in a safe area. A definite must do while you are in Tahoe.

Probably my favorite part of the vacation. The dude working the booth was awesome. I didn’t catch his name– he only works a couple of days a week there. He is a river guide for White water the rest of the time. He provided great local information about the native americans and the area. He was knowledgable about other Kayak Tahoe locations and services. Next Tahoe trip will go out to the Island at Emerald Bay! Loved that he charged us upon return, so we were not tied to a time of rental. Great flexibility! Would return in a heart beat. Kayaking was awesome. Such a fun way to experience the Lake. Very peaceful, and calm. Loved every moment. Fun to see the mansions along the lake. Money well spent. Want to go back and paddle board. They have peddle boats too at a couple of locations.

Kayak Tahoe run a great business. We were there the first week in June, on a Wednesday. The gentlemen who work there are helpful and kind. There were plenty of high quality kayaks and double kayaks available, even when they were busy. Great price point and great location. We had a great time and look forward to coming back on our next trip to Lake Tahoe :)

$ 30 for two hours?! Yes please! This experience was absolutely amazing! We paddle board the Emerald Bay location. It was beautiful! They actually let us paddle board for an hour(which was plenty of time) and then they us switch to kayaking so we could tour the island for the second hour. Be prepared for the hike back up the mountain; it’s not the easiest hike if you’re not used to heart elevating activities. Recommended items: sunscreen, hiking shoes and flip flops, towel, change of dry clothes, cash for parking($ 10), swim suit, snacks, and lots of water. Also, make sure use the restroom prior to arriving. The restroom is located at the bottom of the mountain/hike. This is about a mile from here you have to park. I learned that the hard way!

The Vikingsholm location in Emerald Bay is excellent. Prompt and courteous service. Very friendly and laid back staff. We were originally going to rent for 2 hours, but upon the staff input that 1 hour would be enough even with exploring the Tea House on Fannette island, we saved some $$ for our party of 5. One hour is a good amount. Not too much instruction went into our hour rental; maybe 5 mins top. I would definitely recommend renting kayaks from this company & location. I may even be back later this week!

Great service from the Emerald Bay location! Even though we showed up midday on a summer Sunday, the service was quick and helpful. We got set up with two kayaks right away! I definitely recommend heading to the Emerald Bay(Vikingsholm) location because the scenery is fantastic. Thanks to Kayak Tahoe for a great afternoon!

We rented a 2 person kayak from Kayak Tahoe at Pope Beach. Prices were decent and they had a good selection to choose from. Staff was friendly and easy to deal with; we even got an extra 15 minutes at no additional charge. Rental application process was a breeze and there were plenty of life jackets to choose from. Would definitely use them again.

Chill broze errwhere! Walk a mile down the Rubicon trail and wear your bathing suit for at the bottom you meet an excellent and fam-friendly spot to experience Lake Tahoe. They have 2 standard SUP boards, plenty of kayaks, and another kind of paddle board that will allow you to park it by the island a few hundred feet out. For an hour on the SUP board, it ran $ 20 an hour. The area was perfect to paddle around and all boaters were respectful of space. This beach is not too crowded at all — you are just in the wonder of Lake Tahoe and will probably feel like there is a green screen behind you because it’s so perfect!

Well priced and the staff were great. They give you a quick lesson if you’re new to the whole thing, and then off you go! We went out to the island in Emerald Bay and explored. Highly recommended!

It was so fun here! The beach is amazing and the people here are so nice!(Except for that worker that works at the speed boat place… he knocked on the door of the bathroom 10 million times and then he laughed.) The lady that helped us with everything was so nice! We got 2 double kayaks, and honestly, it was pretty easy to paddle.

We had a blast doing SUP for the first time. Best prices in Tahoe, and you can park for free at the Timber Cove location. The staff were very helpful, and they are flexible on how long you stay out, then pay accordingly. Highly recommended.

A true highlight to our trip! Located right outside our hotel. I’ve been talking about getting into kayaking and today was the day I introduced the fam. My wife is afraid of deep water so this spot was perfect to get her interested without scaring her. Water is about 3ft deep for about 300+ yds out. This makes it easy for kids to play alongside the beach as well. The rental staff was very informative and we rented a 2 person kayak from 4 to 5pm(closing). The ladies in the office were exceptionally nice. My wife and i took turns taking the kids out. I think it helped that the 7 yr old was able to walk nearby while we were out, showing my wife that it ‘wasn’t too deep’. She enjoyed it too. They supplied the kayak, vests, and paddle as well as a quick instruction on basic paddling. Very laid back and relaxing. Well worth the money. Only prob is now they’ve lost a customer because I’m gonna buy my own!!!

Nice place to rent a kayak for a couple hours on the lake. I was in Tahoe for a girlfriend’s bachelorette party and we decided to rent a couple kayaks for two hours. Without making a reservation(and on the weekend before July 4th, no less), we were able to get our kayaks right away and for a good price($ 15 for an hour, single person). We had a great time and there was zero hassle with the whole experience. One warning: parking can be hard to come by on busy days, and the location is hard to find. Basically, use your GPS to find the general area, but know that you won’t be able to see it from the street, necessarily. It’s right on the dock.

My first time kayaking! My boyfriend found this place for us to go kayaking in South Lake Tahoe. Pretty cheap place and you get to go out into the lake alone to explore the nice views. We found a small secluded beach area where we rested for 10 – 15 minutes and took pictures. We ended up with great pictures :) The guy that rented us the kayaks was really helpful. He explained everything and even gave us an extra ten minute leeway because I was scared we wouldn’t make it back in time because we didn’t have a watch on us. The dry bag was $ 3 to rent and worked sooooo well! Kept our two cell phones and my boyfriend’s dslr camera dry for two hours :) we paid $ 45 for two hours on a two person kayak. So worth it and so fun! Definitely a pleasant date! One more thing! Great little beach for tanning and resting after kayaking :)
