20 mins to get our drinks! Gee, it was just beer with lemon An over 30 mins to get our food The menu only has a few items Nothing complicated One of the waitress said it was taking long because as we saw everyone got to the restaurant at the same time However, some of those tables got their order first One of the parties left after ordering just drinks(wonder why) I was hoping the wait was worth it, but it wasn’t! Food is average, meat on «sope» was tough As for their specialty«Tortas Ahogadas» the sauce served with chips was much spicier than the actual«Torta Ahogadas» considering it was the same sauce The only two waitresses working a young girl n a woman weren’t friendly or attentive No personality at all :/Had been there once before but I will not be returning after such BAD service ._.

First time here and all I can say is «YUM»! The bread for the Torta ahogada was just right for all the sauce that goes on it. The size of the Torta is well proportioned. The meat(carnitas) inside the Torta was delicious! Purple onion on top… I’m making myself hungry again! Services is a little slow and that’s why they only get 4 stars. Honestly I would totally come back.

Do not waste your time. Food is good but not worth the crappy service. Service is horrible and staff is not friendly. Ordered and after 15 minutes of waiting had to ask the server to bring my drinks. Food finally came with no fork so I asked for one and waited and waited, finally got up to get my own fork. At 8:30 they started telling anyone that walked in that they were about to close and they had to order to go. I asked for my bill and after 10 minutes I walked up to the server and asked her if I could pay. She directed me to the register with no apology. No tip and never coming back here again.

Bien sabrosas las tortas. Los tacos dorados de requeson con carne están para chuparse los dedos! Siempre bien amables. La jericalla para postre o un dolce mexicano a lado de la registradora.

I’ve been going here for the past 7 years. I’ve had everything on the menu, just got back from Guadalajara & the Tortas Ahogadas here are better. When we get the urge for Pozole, even this is the spot. My daughter’s love their chicken tender w/fries. Fries soaked in the taco dorado plate is a must. I don’t mind the 30 to 40min. Drive at all.

I’m moving to Northern California in a few months and this is one of the places that I will truly miss. I love you, La Chiva Loca! I love your tacos. I love your salsa. I love your pozole and your micheladas and your employees. I love how I have to use 3804830843 napkins because your tacos are so messy. I always order dos tacos dorados de papa, sometimes con carne and a modelo! BESTMEALEVER!

The Tacos Dorados de Papa are delicious. Micheladas are not worth the $ 6.00. It’s good but not worth the price. Customer Service is slow. They need help.

I love this place, to me they have the best torta ahogadas. They are super spicy so be careful when you order. If you don’t like spicy just simply ask for non spicy. Anyway the price is good only $ 7 for a filling torta ahogada de carnitas. And they do served beer which is a super plus to me.

I used to love this place before. I would at least once a week. Their Tacos dorados are chewy which they should be crunchy. Also, it’s rare if they actually have papa inside. I once opened mine completely and it was empty. My husband loves the tortas which are not my favorite. Oh I love the chips and Salsa, that’s one of the reasons I come here because the one in Firestone doesn’t give you this. I hope their Tacos Dorados improve.

i dont know what part of Guadalajara this guys from but their food isnt even close to the real thing. I born and grew up in guanatos and i know what a TORTAAHOGADA tastes like. they not even use carnitas for their tortas is only shredded pork meat on the grill with no flavor whatsoever. The bolillo is just ok nothing special and they served the salsa extremely hot(temperature wise), making the bolillo soak in salsa faster, compare to the right way to do it which is the salsa just warm. and salsa is nothing to brag about it. agua de jamaica just barely flavor on it. NOTRECOMENDED… WONTCOMEBACKEVER !!!

So the compadre and his girlfriend just had a baby and we were searching all over the place to find flowers to take them when we happened to see the big giant sign that said, «TORTASAHOGADAS». Now, I never had a torta ahogada, but I’ve seen a few on TV, and these are made«estilo Jalisco», i.e. the same way they are made in the Mexican state of Jalisco. So we got there, and didn’t really know what to do, because there wasn’t a hostess booth or greeter there to seat us. We just decided to sit down at an empty table and then someone came out from the back to somewhat greet us with some chips and salsa and take our drink order. Unlike others comments, our chips were not stale at all. Ordering is pretty simple. The menu isn’t that big, and copies of it sit underneath the clear plastic tablecloth at each place setting. My kids ordered the chicken strips with fries($ 5.75), and my daughter ordered a taco de pastor($ 1.60) also. Chicken tender basket is actually pretty big. Three big chicken strips and a generous helping of fries. Nothing to complain about. My daughter rather enjoyed her taco, and when she let me taste it, I could see why. Not overly seasoned, with just the right amount of seasoning. Juicy, and not dry at all. She wished she would have ordered more of those instead of the chicken strips. The wife and I shared a torta ahogada de asada($ 7.75) and a sope de pierna($ 2.75). I also tried the 3 tacos de canasta special(one each of bean, chicharron and potato tacos) for $ 3.95. Now, I’ve never had a taco de canasta before, but my cousin talked about the ones he had back in Celaya, Guanajuato, that he had me dying to try one. A taco de canasta is literally translated as «basket taco» but what it is actually SUPPOSED to be is a steamed taco, wrapped in a cloth, sitting in a basket. Sadly, I was disappointed, although I have nothing to compare it to. It was a soggy taco that you had to eat with a fork, and here it tasted like it had been dipped in dirty, burnt, old oil. Could it have been an off day? I don’t know. Needless to say, I WON’T be ordering those here again, should we return. HOWEVER, I think I will be coming back because the liquid crack they pour over their tortas is addicting! Ahogada means«drown», so and to be quite honest, IF I was drowning in this sauce, I wouldn’t want anybody to try to save me because I’d drink my way out of it. I don’t know what they put in it, but it tasted good on the french fries, the chicken strips and of course on the bread they used for the bolillo. I was gonna ask the lady for a straw to drink it right out of the plastic bag covered basked, but I just wasn’t ready to take it to that level yet. The carne itself kinda sucked. Not enough of it, and for a minute there I thought I was eating ground beef because it was chopped so finely, but the sauce is definitely the star of the show, so that was a moot point. The sope itself was rather delicious. Unlike many restaurants, they make the sope shell themselves. The pierna(pork leg) was tasty as well, and it was even better with the salsa they give you with the chips. Their Jamaica was okay, the horchata was outstanding, although I thought it had a little too much cinnamon and was right on the border of being Salvadorean/Central American tasting horchata. As far as the customer service goes, I saw a few complaints here on Unilocal, but we didn’t have any problems. Maybe people were expecting to get their asses kissed, but the«frowning lady» was very nice to us because I took the initiative to engage her in conversation. While some might have seen her as being rude, I simply saw a quiet, hard working lady. One last thing to note is that they serve menudo and pozole also. Menudo is Saturdays and Sundays, pozole I think is everyday. The reason I mention this is because if you haven’t traveled to different parts of Mexico, you are used to getting menudo with grano(corn, maize, hominy) because that is the way that most restaurants serve it here in the U.S. Menudo served that way is Sinaloa style, according to the nice frowning lady, whereas, the way they do it in Guadalajara where they are from, menudo is served WITHOUT grano, unless specifically requested. Overall, good experience, and I hope to go back again soon.

2 stars minus because of the waitress there. The only polite one is a gentlemen there which I don’t remember his name. Their food is FANTASTIC and you receive it quick. I think this place would be AWESOME if the waitress were a little friendly their always frowning(not liking their job much)

I came here with family. This place is very stingy with their food. I ordered tostadas de cuerito and I mostly got cabbage on it. I’ve gone to be better hole in wall places that has at least decent portions. Now in Espanol Fui con familia, son muy aggarados con LA comida. Ordene dos tostadas y era pura repollo que comi. Hay mejor lugares.
