Church’s Fried Chicken

Wish I can give this place 0 stars. I came here on a Thursday night maybe around 7:30. I was literally the only person in the entire restaurant (besides employees obviously). I waited for about 10 minutes to get service and the worker noticed me and said he will get to me shortly. I smiled and nodded my head. At least he greeted me and told me he’ll be with me shortly, right? No. I waited another 5 – 10 minutes and he came back and was annoyed for some reason.
I ordered a chicken strip combo with a side of French fries and a soda. I waited about 10 minutes for my food… Remember, I was the only customer in the restaurant! The food was HORRIBLE. The chicken strips weren’t even fried! They were barely crispy and barely brown at all! They were white and had red dots on it that looked like chicken pox. I was disgusted and did NOT eat it. Then I went to the French fries, which were bad as well. They tasted old, like if they were just sitting out for a while and when I ordered just scooped them or and dumped on my plate. UGH!
Let’s just say, the only good part of this restaurant was the soda. I came out of this restaurant still hungry as I ate almost no chicken. I will never be coming back here and I highly recommended trying some other place, like Popeyes instead!

I was in the drive thru last night, BIG MISTAKE! It took over 45 to get my order. Same thing as the other people, they said they were out of chicken and it would be 20 minutes. I couldn’t leave, I was boxed in, three cars in front and two behind me. HORRIBLE SERVICE! I encourage others to contact their corporate office and file an official complaint. This is unacceptable.

How do you give negative stars on Unilocal because this place deserves it? This is my second time here and will never ever come back. I assume that there is no manager managing this place because it is obviously not being managed properly. I should have read the reviews on Unilocal but didn’t even think to do so… Just felt like some FAST food on my way home and this place was in route.
Well, this place should be categorized as SLOW food. The first time i went I was told that it would be 15 minutes for original style chicken and turned out to be more like 25. Second time I came, I did drive-​thru and was the only one in line. I was asked to wait. Finally the girl came back on the speaker, to take my order, after about a 5 minute wait. I was asked about the style of chicken that I wanted… I said I wanted «original» and suddenly déjà vu hit when I was told that it would be a 15 minute wait for original. On drive thru??? Isn’t that like park thru??? So I put it in reverse and went to pollo loco…
… You may see a future review on pollo loco located on Tweedy and San Miguel in the future. I will visit them again and give them another shot. But as it stands, it may not be a good review since it was also a long wait and was told that they had no breast??? …I have never seen a chicken with no breast.

Horrible service. I should have read the reviews before i came here. there is nothing here about fast food. I am still waiting for 1 order after 15 mins!!! Never again!!!

Food’s alright, but the service is horrible. I had to wait 15 minutes for my food and the place was empty. I also had to wait for them to even take my order bc the cashier and manager were buying something from some sales lady. Oh yeah everyone that worked there were complete cunts too

I wouldn’t recommend coming to this location. I literally live around the corner and have to go somewhere else if I was acceptable customer service because of the lack of service in this location. You would wait 20 minutes or more even if you order 2 pieces of chicken, not exaggerating. They need to hire more people and need to change the entire place to make it look modern. The place has no AC, no working tv and just dull.

They take forever with the food and to get a refill it takes like 10 minutes you’ll be lucky if you return to eat and your food is hot. This place sells chicken but they take literally 12 – 15 minutes before you get your food. And if your in drive good luck because you’re going to be there for at least 20 minutes! Next time I’m going to KFC

The food is good because well… its Church’s. The service here though is horrible. Its always empty and now I know why. Just today I ordered some chicken sandwich combo and after waiting 15 minutes and I finally get to order I get «We are sorry the bread we use on your sandwich is still frozen» … this location is particularly horrible I honestly don’t understand how they stay in business.

I really Just had a craving for church’s chicken for a long time !! I grew up with this chicken and it has been more then 20 years since I had it !! It was drive thru. But even though it was window service. They gave us good service and the chicken was freshly cooked and very quickly served. Will come back when Im in the area again.

I only came here because I had a coupon for a 20 piece meal for 16 bucks… that said, the service is horrible. I 1 star rating I feel is false advertising. It indicates that they deserve any kind of credit. They kept giving stuff away because they kept making people wait due to their lack of organization and knowledge of their own register system.
Message to the «Team Leader» sitting on her ass in the corner of the restaurant:
GET UP AND HELP YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! GET THE NEW KID OFF THE REGISTER AND PUT HIM IN THE KITCHEN… SINCE HE KEPT STEPPING AWAY TO PUT STUFF IN THE FRIER, OR HIRE A COOK!!!

I haven’t wrote a Unilocal review in months, maybe even a year. However, this place was soooooooooooooooooooo bad I told my friend I was going to start Unilocaling again just because it was THAT bad. People MUST know about this place… I will be the one to tell them!
My buddy was the first one in line to order and there was no one around. He asks for a two piece combo, but they ran out of the original. How do you run out of the ORIGINAL? hmmm… no big deal it was my turn next.
…10 minutes goes by and not a single time did the lady say she was going to help me. I was so astonished at how long time went by without even saying «hi» or «i’ll be right with you.» I was so shocked, it was almost quite entertaining. I didn’t know what to say. I just kind of bit my tongue and watched. So literally, 10 minutes goes by and she finally asks what I would like to order. I order my thing and wait for my order… meanwhile another patron asks for more napkins and the lady denies her the napkins. The customer was like «…are you serious?» in which the worker replied back «yes, i am very serious.» My friend and I look at each other and we were like… woooow…
Food wise, my piece turned out okay. Kind of old and overcooked. My friend on the other hand, bit into the chicken and grease literally gushed out. It was pretty interesting to see, and I’m glad that wasn’t my piece.
I’ve seen some horrible service, but this one takes the cake. So bad, it’s entertaining.

Well day 2 of my girlfriend’s internship orientation at St. Francis in Lynwood, I decided to get lunch nearby. I have already tried King Taco nearby and it did not disappoint. Deciding where to grab lunch today, I looked upon Unilocal and basically saw only Mexican and Chinese restaurants in Lynwood. I only had my debit card and pretty much all the Chinese restaurants only accept cash… And I just had burritos today so no Mexican food for me. I’ve never had Church’s chicken before so I decided, oh what the heck, give it a try. I hesitated with the two reviews before me and such a low rating.
Exterior —
Seems like a old school Church’s chicken design. Very light colors.

Small (Around 25 – 30 occupant capacity)
Looks like a typical Popeye’s joint.
Menu didn’t have much of a variety. Meals and bulk of chicken deals.
Did not have napkins or straws out. Had to ask for them. Only spices packages such as salt and pepper.
Customer Service —
After reading S.M.‘s review, I was expecting nothing good. Bad customer service. They talk about their customers in Spanish. All that. It turns out it wasn’t that bad. Despite me being the only customer in there, the person that helped me I believe was the manager. My 2^nd order I couldn’t find any chicken deals for one person. They visually have 10 pieces for 20 dollars for example. So I asked and she was patient enough to tell me I can get 3 pieces for… some amount of price… I couldn’t understand her but it wasn’t as much… around $ 3? Anyways, I wished they put a sign up on their wall menu. By the way. those 3 pieces, she said will take 20 minutes. I gave her a look and she absorbed it. And it turn out to be only 10 minutes.
Food —
Once again, first time having this and wow not sure if it was juicy or greasy. Church’s chicken is indeed better than Popeye’s and KFC. I have no idea what I’ve been missing for a while. This is not bad for a fast food fried chicken joint. Batter was nice and crispy. Portion was far bigger than Popeye’s. And the meat was tender.
Overall —
I would only come back to this location or any other Church’s chicken for the food but not anything else. I hoped for better customer service. At least pretend you enjoy your job. Come on, only 5 minutes… just for me?

Nice service workers, tiny menu, and disgusting chicken. I don’t even understand how this place survives!
