Went to John Andrews for dinner on New Year’s Eve this year with another couple. The ambiance is lovely and light, the food was diverse, tasty and fresh. The service was terrific. The meat dishes were cooked to perfection and the open lobster ravioli and lamb was super. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the ravioli and lamb portions were small side as entrees. We all agreed that we would return.

How the mighty have fallen. Dinner tasting 3 appetizers, two entrees. All bad. Over salted. The foigras was watery! Fettuccine undone(not al dente). Duck heavy with salt. Soup unseasoned. Fried oysters not edible. This used to be fine di I’mning that now turned monstrously bad. Oh… the bread was best.

We’ve been coming to the Berkshires for fifteen years and previous to this visit dinner at John Andrew’s has been the apex of the pyramid. Not this time, unfortunately. As the manager admitted to me «All restaurants have a bad night occasionally». This was one of them. The duck breast my wife ordered was dry(like the tongue of a shoe) and could scarcely be chewed and swallowed. My pasta dish was so oversalted that I sent it back after one mouthful. I am not a picky eater. I will generally eat what is on the plate, but there is a limit. The manager comped my entrée but not my wife’s, and the remaining bill was still hefty(over $ 100 with one drink). Caveat emptor! Reputations are fragile.

Perfect dining experience. The drive is beautiful, and the farmhouse is lovely too. I’ve been twice — the first time my husband and I sat at the bar and had an incredible time talking to the very friendly and knowledgeable bartender, trying his cocktail creations and enjoying scallops and exquisite fried chicken. The second time I brought my whole family, and it didn’t disappoint — sweetbreads were heavenly, lamb, duck, and scallops were all cooked to perfection and balanced well with sides. We left full and very happy. Service was great, ambiance was calming and serene.

Great staff, you can make reservations and also walk but reserving is better. Great bread, inventive presentations and usually wonderful food! Pricey but worth it! We go often as we find it to be the best place for a great dinner with a welcoming staff!

Fan-freaking-tastic. From the welcome, to the bread, to the oil for dipping the bread in, to the lamb pancetta with pickled jalapeño peppers, to the halibut, to the surprisingly fantastic tomato sorbet, to the flourless chocolate desert thing. Wowzer. Cocktail and italian red by the glass were also fantastic. As were the people who staff it. Absolutely nothing wrong with this place that I could identify and lots oh so right. Our mid-week visit made it manageable and not crazy busy.

Fine farm-to-table dining in an unpretentious, gorgeous old converted house. With candlelight. And a chef who comes to the table to say hello! We had the duck cooked in a maple balsamic sauce and the fried oysters. Absolutely delicious!

went here with a large group, including a young child who stayed happy the whole time. Hard to find, even with gps, but keep trying – you won. t regret it! I had the $ 30 prix fixe dinner. Appetizer – heirloom tomato cucumber salad with some amazing fresh herbs Bread – homemade focaccia with onions and Rosemary Entrée – grilled squash and tomato, quinoa Dessert – basil ice cream(I was nervous but it was great) Had Malbec from the white wine list – $ 32 – the most affordable wine on the list by far. other big hits in my party– The foie GRAS appetizer Cream of garlic soup Grilled Bronzino Lamb Service was top-notch the whole time. $ 570 for a party of 9 including two bottles of wine and several desserts. I,‘ll be back for my next special occasion when I take my next vacation out here. A wonderful meal in every way.

This is a great restaurant with a continually changing menu based on what is fresh and seasonal. Very pleasant and relaxing ambience. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but if you go there for a relaxing, excellent meal, it shouldn’t matter. The food is sensational and there is a very good wine selection.
