On a brief business trip to the area, I was craving Persian food, and was delighted to learn on Unilocal that there was a Persian restaurant merely four miles from where I was working. That’s about where the good story ends. There is something just very off about this place. It is located in a nearly deserted, sad looking building that looks like it once may have housed some retail and office tenants who have long since left/gone out of business/etc. The restaurant itself does not have any sign on the awning to announce its presence. And as others posted, the parking lot is very dimly lit. Had there not been a blinking open sign spotted in a window, I never would have known they were there. Inside, the restaurant layout is strange. It is small, and if you are placing a takeout order(which I was), you practically find yourself standing inside the kitchen. On the night I visited, I immediately had my doubts, and wish I had trusted my instincts. The kitchen was almost spotless. Yes, that’s a great thing, but also indicated that not much cooking was actually going on inside of it. That could be because the place itself was completely empty early in the evening. The woman who took my order and gave me my food was very nice, although a bit pushy with trying to get me to pay cash rather than credit. That was another sign that things were not quite right, as most healthy, established restaurants would not think to push you to pay cash on a $ 30 order. All seemed well when I got my food, bundled up in a bag. The distinct, delicious Persian smell of grilled meats emanated from the bag and hit my nose as I got into my car, and all felt right with the world. But once I got back to my hotel, I was very disappointed. I ordered the combo that comes with beef tenderloin, beef koubideh and a chicken kabob, served with rice. The tenderloin was just plain nasty! I was only able to eat one piece of it. It lacked any flavor, and the meat did not appear to be of the highest quality. The chicken kabob had a very sour taste to it, as if it had been sitting in marinade for far too long. And the beef koubideh was only a notch above the nasty tenderloin. It was chewy, and did not pack much flavor. Even though I was very hungry, I couldn’t get myself to finish any of the meats. All of them lacked the distinct char that great Persian grilled food has. How they actually cook the meats here, I have no idea. The rice was as much of a disgrace as anything. Great Persian basmati rice is buttery, and hot and fluffy. This rice was dull and old tasting. It was dry, and had a definite aftertaste(almost like what I would imagine a dirty sock tasting like!), suggesting it had been sitting around past its prime. I have eaten much, much better Persian food in my life. I am so disappointed that what I thought was going to be a great meal, was so flawed on every level. I’m sure the owners are very nice people, and I feel for them. The obvious lack of high quality ingredients, the lack of fresh tasting food, the lack of diners, the nearly abandoned office building, and the desire to divert merchant fees by discouraging credit cards, all suggest a restaurant that is hanging on for dear life. Unfortunately for them, the food is not nearly good enough to save them.

Excellent, fresh food. True gem in the land of pizza/sub shops. Had a couple of salads and wraps for lunch and everything was really tasty. I will definitely be back.

OUTSTANDING!!! We stumbled upon this gem on a Saturday afternoon. Everything was delicious. We started with cucumber yogurt salad, tabloueh, and hummus. Then we shared a combo kabob platter. See picture. Everything was hot and fresh. We will absolutely be back many more times. So good!
It was my first time here. The environment had a Middle Eastern feel because of the decorations and music. The lady that service us was not helpful and kept trying to up sale. I order the eggplant appetizer which I had to look up on Unilocal after asking the staff and the lamb kebab. The eggplant appetizer was delicious but the bread was kind of tasted hard. Chewing the bread made my mouth very tired. The lamb kebabs was really good. It was well seasoned and really juicy. This place was okay I really wish I had another place to compare the food too. I would recommend going once to try middle eastern food, but don’t come back

AMAZINGFOOD! You need to try this place. Delicious. Everything I tried was great. I Never had any problems. When I got a groupon I wasn’t sure but when the food was placed on the table, we knew we will be back. I came here 5 times in the past few months. It’s hard to find since the plaza is too dark and usually empty. It seems as if no one is there. Definitely try this place. LOVEIT.

Best falafel and stuffed grape leaves we’ve ever had. The traditional Persian dishes and kabobs are delicious too. We are regulars now!

We had our office Christmas party on Christmas Eve day at Chaloos this year, and it was wonderful. The food was great, service exceptional and the atmosphere quite lovely. We made reservations so that the owner could be prepared and he bent over backwards to make the event memorable for everyone. I cannot recommend it enough for group parties to small lunches for two. It is a great place to bring clients as it is quiet, atmospheric and the food while different is mainstream enough in its offerings to have something for every palate. Ann

Very small place, we went in hour before closing time and didn’t expect much. But food was great, everything was seasoned well and cooked properly. The owner sat and chatted with us for a bit and waited for us to leave before cleaning up and shutting down for the night. Don’t let the outside discourage you, def worth a try.

This is one of my favorite places. Experience it for yourself instead of reading some of these negative reviews. There are issues with the understanding the menu, but like any foreign restaurant, just ask! The owner, hostess and wait staff are a pleasure. They are super friendly and will make you feel like family. The food is a great variety of veggies, starches and proteins. If you’re a vegetarian or even vegan, then this is a very friendly menu. They cook their meat in the tradition of their native land. Iran is a big place with a lot of subcultures, so because it doesn’t taste like the last place that you’ve been to, it’s OK… It’s really ok. Lol If you’re experienced in middle eastern food, great try it. If you’ve never had middle eastern food, great try it! And ask questions. :)

This place was awful. The rice was dry and bland. Adding hot sauce was the only thing that made it edible. The tenderloin kabob was chewy and could not be swallowed. The«naan» bread is really cut up pieces of tasteless pita bread. Everything on the menu is way overpriced and the food is just not good. We will definitely not be going back and we really wish we had read the reviews before dining there.

Really wonderful food! Went here about 3 weeks ago. Had a chicken and beef kabob– tasty and tender. The Shirzai salad was absolutely fantatstic! Service warm and friendly and(much appreciated in Boston area) — easy parking. I am only temporarily in the Boston area for business, but will be back here before I leave for home. Sometimes we get comfortable with the chain restaurants knowing if you liked a certain dish at a certain chain in San Francisco, you will find the same likeable dish in Boston. But then we forget that it is usually more rewarding to try new things at small locally owned restaurants where owners are more invested and passionate about the food they serve.

Food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Doesn’t seem like there’s enough traffic to serve really really fresh food. Falafel which is usually my fav was very chewy. Rice was very dry, needed the hot sauce to moisten it up. Salad was good. But that’s about it. Lot is dark and eerie. Prob won’t be going back.

Customer service: I would give it 0 stars if I could. BADBADBAD customer service. These guys have poor rating online but seems like they don’t care or learn from it and are not putting any effort into getting their ratings up so guess what, you’re going to get a 1 star from me as well. Food: Very overpriced for what they are selling. Sounds a lot fancier on the website than it actually is. I would may be consider this place if they cut the prices in half.

i’ve been dining at chaloos for almost 2 years now. have tried many of the menu items and have enjoyed them all. their freshly made hummus is a great starter, as is the spinach pie, grape leaves, or falafel. the specialty rices are very tasty and offer a nice variety of flavors, ranging from black cherries, to lentils & raisins, to barberries, to my favorite dill weed and lima beans. the accompanying diced shirazi salad adds a wonderful complimentary taste experience. add a kabob skewer and you’ve got a complete meal. speaking of kabobs, there’s something for everyone. meat lovers will enjoy the kubideh(ground beef), or beef barg(similar to sirloin chunks), tender chicken, or lamb. all highly recommended. looking to keep things vegetarian? the veggie kabob will not disappoint. there’s also soups, salads, stews, wraps, and several sweet choices for dessert. the menu has lots to choose from, so most anyone should be able to find something to their liking. the portions are a good size and well presented. atmosphere is nice, clean, and inviting. the staff is always friendly. i’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Got a Groupon for this place and went here for dinner with the boyfriend. For apps we got grape leaves and falafel. Yum! He got the beef kebab(I think) and I got the lamb shank. Both yummy! The woman who worked there was nice. Place looked clean. It wasn’t busy, pretty quiet. We’re going to go back and use my other Groupons!

A hidden gem in Easton. Have been here twice now and ordered the same Afghani Kabob dish again since it was so good the first time. Very moist and tender. I’m certainly not an expert in Persian food, but we really liked everything we had. Important: only open Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues. Twice we’ve stopped by only to find them closed, we tried to call and check once but. they have no voicemail on the phone.

Service — Wonderful! Food — Wonderful Atmosphere — Small, but nice. On weekend nights, they have nice music, but it’s more crowded. Still, have been twice and always had a seat, just kinda hard to hear each other if you’re looking for quiet conversation. We were not. Price — pricey for what you get. We’re willing to pay because we love the food and service, but, they do load you up with the rice and/or salad. Stuffed grape leaves are the best I’ve had. And I’ve had them all over New England! Lamb kabob moist and great flavors.
