Came here with my dog; a smaller mini-pincher/mini-daschaund mix, and he loved the smaller enclosures. There are double-thick gates to stop the dogs from getting in or out easily, and the day that we had decided to head down this way, the dog park area was pretty full; a happy surprise to the negative reviews below. We decided to walk the path along the river and were pretty surprised at the lack of damage that the paths suffered from Sandy… that was, well, until about the ½ mile mark when the path became almost unfollowable. The path marked with the blue diamond was nice for his tiny legs though, and as we returned, more people had showed up for him to *try* and play with. The people seemed nice enough, and where we are in Plymouth, there aren’t too many options for dog parks.

The first official Dog Park on Cape Cod, Fresh Pond Dog Park is part of the town’s Fresh Pond Conservation Area. A rugged-looking area that features wire-fenced enclosures and an easy walking trail through the woods. During the summer, its one of the very few legal places that dogs and their friends can swim and play without disturbing two-legged beach-goers! There are no fees and trash-barrel service may not be available(pack it out). There is ample parking for 8 – 10 vehicles. No restrooms. The park is an effort of the Dennis Natural Resources Department, Animal Control, the Conservation Commission, and the Board of Selectmen. Additional site improvements were donated by Cape Cod Kennel Club, Derbyfield Kennel, Eagle Fence, the volunteers of Americorps, and the Dennis DPW. Cape Cod Kennel Club supplies most of this information. Directions — Route 6 to Exit 9A and Route 134SOUTH — Stay on 134 South through 3 traffic lights — Fresh Pond Dog Park is on the right(west) side of Route 134, one half mile past the lights at the Upper County Road intersection
