Knocked it out of the park. The Inn is fantastic — on the National Historic Register. Sleeping in the caboose made me feel like a kid. The room was clean, the furnishings and interior were fun. Only slight negative — the mattress is VERY firm. The B&B borders on Iron Horse State Park. There’s a little trail through the old rail yards, or you can take a longer hike. The old depot houses some interesting artifacts and information, along with a great BBQ restaurant. Which brings me to breakfast at the Iron Horse B&B — easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. French toast sounds so what — but if you’re thinking that you’ve never had THIS french toast. Not just a good breakfast — a fantastic breakfast. Husband had the«train wreck» with eggs, corn tortilla, salsa, black beans, avocado and hash browns and said the same. Wonderful place for a couples get away. Kids would completely adore sleeping in a caboose and there’s even a playground. Nice hosts — just a terrific experience.

What a wonderful gem! I came to Cle Elum for a trail race and had the pleasure of staying at the Iron Horse in one of the caboose rooms. So glad I found this place! Mary(the owner) was the perfect host making all guests who walked through the door feel welcome. There was every attention to detail and in addition to extremely well kept rooms, there was quite a lot of railroad history encased in the B&B to see! The breakfast that was prepared for us was delicious and the chef Doug was very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Can’t wait to visit them again next year and highly recommend checking them out!

Great first b n b experience! The caboose rooms were cool and the huge jacuzzi tub was awsome for a romantic getaway. The breakfasts were delicious and goumet without being weird or fancy schmancy. Highly recommend!

**For the 2nd Caboose closest to the Inn building** Up at the building, there’s so many awesome historical local photos the area railway. I love local history; it’s so cool! Especially if they’re transit, engineering or building-related. The owner lady I believe who we met inside was so sweet and friendly. Back outside to our Northern Pacific Caboose, we got settled in. It was a good 1 night stay but personally I would give this cute train car experience ~3 stars: –No shower. That’s just my personal need/want for a good cleansing. I wonder if the tub could be dual-purpose if a shower head was just plumbed up the wall. –No detailed instructions for the jet tub’s operation. The owner said if we want to use the jets, let them run a bit until the initial«(loud) noise(loud)» goes away. I think we gave it a minute until I noticed a slight smoke and burnt odor. Should they have started up with water in them? I don’t know but looking back they remind me of water pumps… only ran with water through them. Also 2 mysterious white dials. We ended up just treating it like a bath… –The tiny tube VHSTV. –Super comfortable bed. –Good skylights; always like the top natural lighting. –The bathroom with the tub had a cool high ceiling in the caboose rear. If you couples out there want a lil’ romance in this tub, I can totally see small candle votives spaced around the sides during the evening. The place is unique and wonderful, small playground for the inner child and a path out back, which I missed, but I believe is the old railyard with history captions.

My husband and I wanted to take advantage of the 3-day holiday weekend and racked our brains over where we should go. At work, customers kept saying they were going to Portland and I thought«maybe we should avoid Portland.» I’m glad we did, because we found the Iron Horse Inn B&B and had the best stay in the Milwaukee Caboose. A bed, heaters, blankets, TV nook with VHS tapes, books, and lofted spaces was like being a kid and having a tree house. I think we enjoyed the little TV nook in the caboose the best. Just cover yourself up with the huge stack of blankets they offer, watch some Downton Abbey(we did!), or The Wind in the Willows. Mary and Doug run the place and the house is charming and full of Milwaukee RR memorabilia. Doug’s breakfasts were so very good. The first day we had the option of blueberry pancakes or the«Train Wreck»(like a huevos rancheros), a choice of two juices(pomegranate/cranberry or orange), coffee, and an apple danish. Yum! Our second breakfast options were waffles with strawberries or a ham and cheese omelet with hash. The pastry was an apple zucchini muffin that was to-die for. They were even kind enough to share the recipe with me. In short, this is a lovely place to retreat and getaway from the city. There aren’t any annoying noises out there to be heard. You can hear yourself think, plunge your nose into a good book and listen to the crackle of the main house fire, or chat with other guests if you’re sociable like me. I highly recommend the Iron Horse Inn B&B!
