The ferry from NY to Vermont doesn’t run on Sunday so my husband had to take us around Lake Champlain to reach our destination, The Comfort Inn, only to find they sold our suite to someone else ! And .the kicker is that I called two hours prior to confirm and we were a go. Not so much . The clerk at the Comfort Inn got us a room at Smart Suites and I’m very happy he did. The gal working the desk is a doll ! She felt bad for us since we were in the car for 8 hours and offered us some complimentary ice cream to help ease our pain . Our room is the fantastic, a lovely fully furnished suite. The staff took great pride in folding the towels into delicate art ! Happy campers here Vermont :)

Great value hotel. As far as Burlington, VT goes — the hotel is affordable and has everything you need for your stay! Its such a wonderful town to visit, you won’t be spending much time in the hotel anyway. Clean room, recently renovated rooms available, VERYFRIENDLY staff, and all around welcoming environment. Its nothing fancy but I had a wonderful experience staying nonetheless.

GREATROOM, GREATSTAY. We stayed here for one night, arriving at 11:00am off a cross-country redeye and checked out at 8:00am the next day. The reason we picked this hotel was because they offer rooms with Jacuzzis, which we figured would be nice after the redeye. Our stay was perfect. We arrived four hours before check-in, and even though our room wasn’t ready, they expedited the cleaning and we were in the room 30 minutes later(still 3.5 hours before the official check-in time). In the meantime, we cooled our heels in the lounge, with great(free) coffee, little cups of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream(free), and used the computer/printer(free) to print our boarding passes for the next morning’s flight. The room was huge, more like a studio apartment than a hotel room. It had a kitchen with a full stove, full fridge(with ice already in the ice maker), microwave, and dishwasher. Everything was spotless. The bathrooms had an overabundance of towels and soaps. The Jacuzzi was a jet-tub, deep and long enough to fit two tall, tired travelers with plenty of room to spare and easy one-button jet operation. Even though our room was on the ground floor and faced the parking lot, there was literally no sound from anywhere during the night. You will be perfectly relaxed staying here. And the continental breakfast was great. There were hot eggs and sausages, cranberry muffins, croissants, etc. One note: Even though the Smart Suites is clearly visible from the road, it does not have a sign at the driveway entrance. You use the same driveway for the Comfort Suites next door to get to the Smart Suites.

Staying at the Smart Suites for 1 month. So far so good EXCEPT the gym sucks(that’s the only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars). You do have the option of using the pool at the holiday inn across the parking lot. I joined The Edge at Twin Oaks and they have good gym with lots of classes if you like that sort of thing. The rooms are great… full kitchen, large bed, pull out couch. I am paying $ 70 per day. Included is a daily morning breakfast, free printer/computer downstairs, free WiFi, HBO with general cable(I have 2TV’s in my room!), Above all the staff is great! Super friendly and hospitable. Ask them anything and they will give you info from places to eat to the best parks. I would highly recommend for short or long term stays.

One thing should be clarified. The Smart Suites in S. Burlington actually consists of two buildings. Most good reviews originate from the nice, new building close to Rte. 7. It is quite a different experience staying at the older, long term building on the top of the hill, which has declined significantly in quality over the years. Smart Suites«on the hill» has become somewhat run down over the years and is often dirty and can be very noisy, due to the much lower quality of clientele staying there. It used to be a great place for long term business stays but is now a mixed bag, with some very seedy people staying there. The police show up on occasion and it sometimes does not feel very safe at all. Domestic disputes and unruly kids in the hallway and parking lot, make you feel like you’re staying at a crack house. Despite several accurate reviews on TripAdvisor by myself and others, the reviews are mysteriously removed, perhaps because Smart Suites advertises with TA. Anyway, avoid the Smart Suites«on the hill» and stay at the lower building which sounds much, much better!

Lemme tell ya, this is one great hotel. I ended up booking this place because it seemed as though every other hotel in the Burlington area was either booked or really expensive. We(my friend and I) booked a suite with a king sized bed and living room with a kitchen for a really affordable price! The kitchen is a nice size, complete with a stove, dishwasher, full sized refrigerator, coffee, etc. Living room area was clean with a tv, table, and couch. The couch wasn’t really comfortable(I think it was a pull out bed). There was also a desk and chair. The bedroom was large with a very comfy king sized bed, tv, and AC(the AC is only in the bedroom, but it cools off the entire suite). Bathroom was very clean and roomy, stocked with soap, shampoo, a hair drier, etc. This suite was basically a fair sized apartment, which I liked. My traveling partner and I had enough space, and didn’t have to be in a crowded little room. The staff is very nice. One guy asked if we’ve ever stayed there before and when we said no, he told us about the free complimentary breakfast(which was actually good. Those cranberry muffins were to die for). There’s a soda machine, and when you first walk in, there’s a spot with tons of tourism brochures. For those without a car(ahem, us), a bus is right on the corner that will drop you off in the center of Burlington(doesn’t run on Sundays though). It also makes a few trips to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory which is a few miles down from the hotel. All in all, we absolutely loved Smart Suites. Affordable, spacious, clean, easy access to downtown Burlington. And free breakfast! We’ll be back:)

I’ve stayed here twice so far. The nice thing is it has a small little kitchen — dishwasher, stove, microwave, almost full-size fridge. You can get a one bedroom place with a sofabed — great if you have kids who go to bed earlier than you. Both rooms have a TV. One inconvenient thing is that the air-conditioner/fan unit is in the bedroom and not the living room with the sofa bed. The kids got hot some nights. Our first night was in a room that eventually stunk with the smell of cigarette smoke. The manager said the smoking rooms are all in the basement floor and we were on the 2nd floor. Luckily he moved us to a better room and gave us a discount. Breakfast is not bad — maybe one hot dish but the kids loved picking out their cereals and muffins and yogurt. Great Vermont coffee. Near enough to drive downtown and visit the Church Street restaurants as well as quite a few restaurants just down the street. Free wireless internet. Newspapers. And you can use the pool/hot-tub at the Holiday Inn Express across the parking lot. Laundry room and exercise room in the basement. Also near a Hertz car rental agency and grocery store.
