I effing love this place – no frills, hole in the wall establishment with cute décor and fcking delicious meat pies. The breading is flake-y, buttery, soft, and delicious. The meat is well seasoned and even though the pies themselves look a bit small, one will leave you feeling content. That said, I think I could eat like three in one sitting, no joke. My only qualm about this place is that the frozen pies that they sell are priced at the same level as pies you order to eat there. I feel like frozen anything should be cheaper, as you’re going through the preparation process yourself. Ah well, gives me more of an excuse to drag myself over here. I love the Irish beef stew pie, and my boyfriend goes for the lamb shank. The classic beef is also delicious though. Okay let’s be real – you can’t go wrong with any option. I love this place.

This is a great gem that I’m so glad I decided to stop into. I wasn’t sure what the place was about exactly even though the name was straightforward. It’s a small establishment with a small space for seating. The selection boils down to meat and pies. It is also really blatant about its Austrailianess. There’s a map of Australia, toy koalas hanging over menu options, Bundaberg(Australian ginger beer), and a cubby filled with Vegemite. I got a Curried Vegetable along with a bottle of Bundaberg. The pie was amazing. The stuffing was seasoned really well. The pie was an amazing fusion with Indian. It was a weird sensation to be eating a pie and being reminded of so many flavors I’ve only had at Indian restaurants. The crust was buttery and flaky while having a nice crispness. It was great and I would definitely recommend if you want to try something new in pie form.

Small place, quick bites but filling. Vegetarian pie — puffed bread with veg filling in it. Nice hot and crisp. Potato wedges — tastes awesome with sour cream and sweet sauce provided with it Chicken sandwich — with chilli jam gave a nice sweet tangy spicy taste.

Delicious pot pies with a soft pastry shell. Stopped by this location while in Southie. Right around the corner from the Broadway T stop. Always something new! I tried the Irish stew pie… absolutely delicious! Definitely a meal themselves! Eat them with your hands… its proper! Always a fun place to eat. Try their much bigger Eastie location too!

The pie falls far from the pie tree here. Speaking of which, if you ever owned a pie tree, what type of pie would you have? I came to the original Eastie location a while back with a friend and definitely enjoyed their braised beef pie. The pie crust was warm and flaky. The beef inside was flavorful, moist, and tender. The offering I received at this location was anything but that. I tried the braised lamb shank pie. First, the pie crust was awful. It wasn’t warm at all and not flaky. Rather, the crust tasted bland and soggy. The lamb itself was dry and flavorless. The vegetables inside were mushy and sort of resembled that frozen vegetable mix you’d see at your local supermarket — made popular in the swingin’ 60’s. The whole pie required a copious amount of Sriracha sauce to make it edible. Perhaps I caught a bad aberration, or perhaps this spot just isn’t as good as the other place. I guess I’ll just have to suck-it-up and drive a little farther out(and pay toll *sigh*) for my Australian pie fix.

Awesome small Australian pie shop in Southie near Broadway station. The décor is adorable with their koala clipboards that describes the pies and the map of Australia to their«How to eat a pie» picture. They have refrigerated pies that you could take it to go or you could have them put one in the oven for you as you order so you can enjoy it there. The price is good for how much food you’re getting and the pies are delicious! The crust is perfectly seasoned and cooked and they have so many different types of filling that you can get, so they have something for everyone. If you are commuting home and need something to snack on, I’d definitely recommend that you stop by since it’s only a block away from Broadway station.

Phenomenal! I had the sausage pie and the fries with sour cream and sweet chili sauce! So perfect after hitting the bar! Both the pies and the fries were piping hot– and this was even just before closing. Substantial portions and excellent prices. The interior has some Australian themes, but is not the type of place to sit and have a relaxed meal. We opted to take out. Good stuff!

Me oh my gimmie a piece of that pie. I have actually never tried their pies because Im having an affair with their chicken sandwiches. Fried sizzling hot in all its glory they are juicy, crunchy, and sweet when they add the mayo and chili. A must have! The french fries are wedges and task great when you dip it in the sour cream and sweet chili sauce. The guys here are down to earth and quick. Fun fact, they also deliver to Williams Tavern across the street which comes in handy on Tuesday trivia.

You Beauty! It’s been 31 years since I’ve had a decent pie and KO k, o’s it! If you’re an Aussie or Kiwi ex-pat, you need to pay KO a visit and get your fix! I got the classic beef and nearly wept tears of joy as the flavour of my childhood came back to say G’day. Unilocal needs something more than 5 stars for exceptional service and products. I’d give KO10 stars if I could. The crust is a perfect flaky pastry crust and the filling is just the right peppery savoury that I remember from my time as a kid in the Outback. Wee hole in the wall place with 80’s playing, made for a great atmosphere to break my pie drought. They do catering as well as have pies and sausage rolls on hand ready for a sit down feed or a feed on the go! The price is great too! Less than $ 10 for a beauty feed? Can’t go wrong with that! Ta a mil KO for giving me a taste of a fondly recalled childhood!

Yummy selection of pies. The sausage roll was really really good. The meat and cheese pie was authentic but the lamb pie had too many veggies. The filling on the pies didn’t have as much gravy as the typical aussie pie but flavor was good. Lamingtons were also tasty.

Stopped by and grabbed an Irish beef stew pie. The meat and pie crust were good, but I would have preferred some other ingredients. I think adding vegetables to the pie would have made it much better. I may go back to try another pie. The pie with lamb shank sounded good. G

Really great food. I have an understanding of the $ 2 aussie meat pie from my adolescence. These are way better than the typical corner shop meat pie. I think there might be some hard fat, or lard in the piecrust. Way too delicious to not have something bad in there. In any case, it’s legit.

If you’re looking for something special this might be interesting. If you’re bored of fast food you can get at every corner and you’re looking for something not available in any city, this might be the right place. A small shop offering a small choice of traditional Australian pies. I loved the taste and the presentation of the pies. It really is something special and I would definitely go there again and I even would recommend the place to anyone ;) I give 5 stars because they played a DIO album when we were there ;) R.I.P. One word: wow. Amazing traditional Aussie pies consisting of a variety of traditional and inventive fillings, all ensconced within a flaky crust make for a quick, delicious and unique lunch if you happen to be holed up in the nearby Convention Center. They have a number of items ready for take home preparation as well if you hail from the area. Reasonably priced too. This place is a winner in my book.

***ONESTARFORDELIVERY. Their website clearly says they deliver from this location, but of the 6 – 7 times I’ve called this location for delivery they’ve only delivered once. Once they said they don’t deliver on weekdays. So I called on a Saturday. Nope, they wouldn’t deliver then either because they«only had two people in the building». Ok, that’s fine, but if you won’t ever deliver DON’T ADVERTISEDELIVERY!*** Pre-meat pie thoughts: Meat? Pie? Like ye olde English bland-n’-heavy cuisine? Who am I, Oliver Twist? Post meat pie thoughts: MEATPIE? HELLYEAHSIGNMEUP! Crispy crust, the meat is nicely seasoned and it actually does go really well with the ketchup they provide, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really like ketchup on anything that isn’t a potato. If you’re from Australia and you know about meat pies, maybe these aren’t the best? But they’re the only ones I know of in the Boston area, and they’re damn good. I got a classic with cheese, and an Irish stew pie which I would not recommend with ketchup, but which was delicious on its own. Both were amazing and I would get both again. The Milo ice cream was disappointing though… maybe it’s just the fact that I ordered it in the dead of winter, but it was hand scooped(not packed) into a tiny cup, and there was that kind of warm weird film on it that old ice cream gets. The cookies were also not worth it, but I can’t reduce the rating for these lesser things because I mean… the meatpies are where it’s at.

A review for takeout — …and who knew a vegetable curry pie with an obscene amount of ketchup on top would be amazing?! I was skeptical, you might be skeptical, but no worries here. Just look up the illustration on how to eat it and order, order, order! A tip from a fellow regular there was to definitely eat it with your hands and I did and I would do it again! DONOT eat it with a fork you are going to ruin your experience. I also heard from the meat eaters that the Irish Stew was sooooo good! Enjoy!

Please, if you anywhere near the area you need to go to KO. I have grown up on savory pies being part French Canadian, so this was heaven in a little shop for me. If you have had French Canadian meat pie before, KO’s Aussie pies are similar however stick to one type of meat. Oh boy and the pie of the month. They always manage to deliver. From Jerk Chicken to Chili Dog, soooo good. KO has yet to steer me wrong on anything on their menu, thank god I work just down the street.

Pretty sure I’m gonna get some real wrath for this… but i didn’t love these pies. According to the Unilocal world, these small concoctions are supposed to be blow-your-mind amazing! I ordered the braised lambshank and couldnt be more disappointed! Lemme start by giving it the kudos it deserves… The crust was indeed buttery, flaky and really good. But as for the filling, it really needed some work. mine had absolutely no gravy and consisted of a ton of peas and very little lamb. The ratio was like 10:1. I felt like I ordered a pea pie. I think because my pie lacked gravy, it also lacked flavor… i had to drench each bite with their house hot sauce and sriracha. However, I have to say the few pieces of lamb I did get to eat had good flavor; there was just not very much of it.))))= Chances are that I had really bad luck and just happen to receive a weak pie. I will probably give it another shot. Oh, forgot to mention the girl behind the counter was really sweet! star for her!(=

Any pie is an instant win, but the braised lamb shank with veggies is an overtime win at Home. There’s one heavy ass wooden table, five stools against the window counter and a plethora of Aussie takeaway that’ll melt your heart just before stopping it. Buttery, flakey, going-Andrew Zimmerny-with-all-the-ends-in-Y-descriptors crust hiding anything from curried vegetables to savory spiced ground beef in a rich, peppered gravy to the aforementioned lamb, in massive tender chunks wine-braised off the bone not hours before. The«How To Eat A Pie» sign says to give a dollop of ketchup, but you owe it to owner Sam, the island of Australia and your tongue to go bareback at your first rodeo. The goods run $ 6 – 7 each, and I hear they feature things like«salads» and«baked goods» and«grilled fish sandwiches» and«sweet corn fritters» and… wait, hold up. That last one. Yes, that last one. Where was I? And«chicken schnitzel» and other non-pie related items that’ll knock your teeth out with a flavor roundhouse, but really, get a pie. Get all the pies. Bring me one. Then get all the pies again. Just before your ticker explodes, try the mushy peas — they may save your life. Vegetables do that, right?
