Gold’s Gym

Horrible. Will absolutely not renew my membership. This is the dirtiest gym I have ever been in. The women’s workout room is sad, looks like an after thought; dirty, stained, torn up carpet. The staff barely acknowledges you when you come in. I tried to cancel my membership and got the run around and was hung up on a few times. Way too pricey for what you get– rip off.

Good gym. I’m guessing it was a manager named Chris but he charged me $ 20 for two days which was a nice gesture since I was here on business. Lots of equipment and clean.

It’s a shame because it super close to home. I work at a gym so I am looking to get a membership somewhere else. I had a valid free day pass and Chris said I still had to pay 20 $ to use the gym. Looks like that 20 $ was more important than gaining me as a member. Place must be hurting. #customerservice

When I first joined I made it clear that I did want to get into a contract! The guy Chris who signed me up told me that after 3 months he would lower my bill to $ 39.99 a month which was still expensive but better than paying their regular fee of 59,99 a month. After the 3 months my credit card statement was billed the 59.99 when I called Golds they basically said that the deal I got did not exist! In order to cancel I had to send a letter to 3^rd party biller which I never knew existed. This place is rip off the fees are ridiculous! For the amount they charge they can at least give you towel but no they charge for that 2! The women’s area had old equipments with an old TV that never works. I will never return and I will tell all my friends to stay away!

One of the selling point is the abundance of TV connected to the cardio devices. Don’t be fooled. If you find on with a picture the sound won’t work or you will be unable to change the channel. Don’t try pointing this out to the staff as I learned it is the franchise owner who is reluctant to spend any money on repairs.

If i could give this gym a 0 i would. I was not able to end my contract because #1 i didn’t move 25 miles away from the gym #2 i don’t have medical issue, even though it’s inconvenient for me due to my new job. They are very inconsiderate.

DO NOT sign up for this gym. Almost impossible to cancel a membership. When you sign up they tell you that you can cancel at any time but there will be a fee. In reality you need to give proof that you moved at least 30 miles away or have a doctors note stating that you are not able to do any physical activity AND you still need to pay a $ 99 fee for canceling after all of that.
Also they con you into signing up for a year membership making you think your getting a good deal. After I signed up I got a deal in the mail stating that you could sign up no money down for $ 20 dollars a month no commitment! I was paying $ 40 dollars a month on contract.
Gym equipment is terrible and the women’s work out room is pathetic. It’s dirty and full of meatheads. Staff is unfriendly and not helpful at all! Especially when trying to cancel a membership because they go through a third party company called ABC Financial.
All in all NOT worth the money and frustration– find another gym!

Do not sign up for a membership here! The staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful, and you will be LOCKED into a contract that is almost impossible to get out of. All billing goes through a third party biller, ABC Financial, that requires you to write a letter to cancel, even after the two year grace period. I have been paying for a gym membership I do not use for over 15 months, because all they want is your membership money, whether you are a happy member or not means nothing to them. If you want a good workout with helpful and friendly staff, go down the street to the Crossfit gym.

The gym itself isn’t terrible but the service is awful and the bathrooms are clean.

Front desk woman was very rude. She was not friendly at all. Just her attitude alone makes me not want to join. Day pass is $ 15 not sure why. They have good equipment but again having a friendly attitude at work is most important. Never again…

They recently increased my monthly membership fees from $ 50 to $ 80 without notifying me. I started a long term travel plan for work, where I would not be in the Boston area during the week. I opened up another gym membership local to my work place in NYC and tried to cancel my Gold’s membership in Boston, especially after they overcharged me. I was told I cannot cancel my membership unless I am outside a 25 mile distance of another Gold’s Gym at my current location in NYC. 25 miles can mean 1.5 hours of driving in NYC. I then asked if I could cancel my recurring payments that end in the middle of October. I was told I need to write a letter stating my reason for ending my membership, and could not do it over the phone.

It is a decent gym. I cancelled my membership because I found a gym closer to my office. The biggest downside is the third party they use for billing.
ABS billing is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They require a written letter (sent through certified mail) explaining why you are cancelling your membership.
I enjoyed my time at golds, but the process of cancelling the membership will make me never sign up again in the future.

again, gold’s gym overcharged me. when will this ever end. the manager is never available over the phone. guess what, we all have jobs and many during regular working hours, we can’t spend an entire day to sit around the gym to just to make sure we catch the manager. will someone who can actually help contact me???
i understand that you have a billing company that takes care of the charges, however, that doesn’t mean you have your hands clean for all these transactions.

Decent gym in the neighborhood and good for the money. Not the cleanest but good equipment and lots of cardio.
I needed to cancel my membership because I took a new job. I understand the 30 day notice and fine that I pay that. But I also am responsible for the annual fee for next year because I cancelled in December. That I am NOT fine with! Beware of having to pay that pure profit fee for Golds even if you’re not going to use the gym next year. Not happy and this leaves me with a bad last experience with Golds.

Without a doubt the best gym I’ve ever worked out at. I’m a collegiate athlete
, so physical training is a very big part of my life. They have all the latest equipment and have ample space so you can do yoga, boxing, plyometrics and cardio. They’re bathrooms are clean and I’ve never had an issue with free weights not being in the right places. I train with Greg Pappas, who owns a personal fitness company called Fitforlife®. Fitforlife® has 5 great personal trainers, all of whom are very personable and have flexible schedules. Overall I couldn’t be happier with this place, and even though I live across from BCS gym, I’d rather drive 15 minutes to come to Golds instead.

Great gym with all the amenities. They’ve just loaded it with new equipment!!!
From cardio and free weights to spinning and personal training with Greg Papas @ Fit for Life. They really do have it all here including daycare, tanning, a special weight room for women, and even a barber upstairs! It does get a little busy during peak after work hours, but what city gym doesn’t. The Staff is on top of it all, so come in and sign up for a membership with Chris, and if you have any problems after that Lindsay will address them immediately!

I was anxious about joining after reading all of the negative reviews, but as a new member, I’ve been totally satisfied. It’s a little bit pricey for the facility and limited amenities (I pay $ 59/​month), but that’s a gym in the city. For that much, though, it’d be nice to have free towels :)
I am a pretty basic gym-​goer, using cardio equipment and weights (not a class person), and for that, it’s totally acceptable. I like the women’s room — sure, it’s not huge, but it is well maintained and bright. I should mention that I go exclusively in the early morning (5:30am), and there’s enough people in there during that time to be motivating, but not too many to be crowded. It’s a huge plus to have free parking, especially that early in the morning. Staff has been friendly too. Thumbs up from me, so far.

This Gold’s Gym is probably one of the filthiest gym’s that I have ever been to and the lack of concern from the management is absurd. I seriously don’t think that anyone who works there has ever been into the locker rooms there because if they have, they would see how gross they are. I also don’t think there is a cleaning crew that comes to this gym … ever.
A few things on the extensive list of issues with this gym:
–The lockers are always filthy (especially after the winter, they have not even bothered to wipe down the salt in the lockers)
–Not all the showers have soap (one of the dispensers fell 6 months ago and it has never been replaced)
–The showers clog constantly
–The lights in the showers don’t work and have taken at least a month to be replaced
–The equipment takes appx. 4 months to get fixed after a «service call» is placed
–The mats in the weights area are bubbling up and are dangerous
–ABC Financial, their billing partner, is the absolute WORST
–No one does the rounds to put stray weights away or to make sure that the equipment is where it should be
–There’s always trash in a handful of machines (in the cup holders, etc.)

I love the 24 hours of operation! The owners of this gym keep upgrading it with amazing state-​of-​the-​art equipment I wish the ceilings were higher but that’s just the structure of the building that there in The staff is efficient plenty of small lockers upfront adequate parking. Excellent access right off the highway Excellent gym on my next business trips to Boston I will be training at this gym
