First off, I was deciding on whether 4 or 3 stars would be appropriate. Because of the customer service I got, I decided to give 4 stars. I took two pairs of boots here to have one resoled and one re-heeled, and both cleaned. When I received the boots back the first time, I noticed that they didn’t looked like they both had been cleaned, and some tiny details(like filing off excess rubber from the sides) were not addressed. I brought this up to the young lady working there and she instantly took down these notes and attached it to my two shoes. I just picked these boots up today and they looked a lot cleaner and the tiny issues that I brought up were taken care of. The only thing that concerns me is the quality of the repair — the rubber soles were applied with adhesive and not stitched on to the actual wooden sole of the shoe and the re-heeled boots have a bit of open space between the sole and the heel when the shoe is flexed. As I am not a shoe expert, I don’t know if these fixes are sufficient enough and will last or are poor quality. The only way to see is to wear them and see what happens! If anything happens with our shoes, I’ll post an update, but until then, I recommend this place. It’s great to find a place in South Bend that has good customer service.

Went there to have my shoes polished at 2 o’clock, was told I would have to leave them overnight. There were 2 people in the store, and neither was working on shoes. Was told there was noone there to work on shoes at that time. Tried to sell me an expensive shoe shine kit. Felt that I was given very short shrift, not friendly at all. Took my shoes to Alex shoe hospital, got them shined in 10 minutes. This is too bad, since this shop is within 3 blocks of my house. The heavily made up lady thatt ‘waited’ on me was not interested in me coming back at all. I give this place the lowest of all possible ratings. Bad attitude.

I came here with some brand new Frye boots that had been handcrafted in Mexico in a cowboy boot factory(I think), and while everything about the shoe was amazing, I worried that the slick bottom of these boots would have me falling down more than standing, so I went to see Tony. Tony looks like what you might expect a cobbler to look like. There are piles of shoes everywhere and they do every imaginable repair you can think of. Did you wear through the soles of your $ 400 Allen Edmund’s shoes and don’t want to send them back for restoration. Tony can do it. I asked about this as well. My boots were fitted out with rubber soles — not full soles — just protection soles which were thin and maintained the look of these $ 350 boots. I paid $ 20 per sole — which is not cheap, but why skim on a pair of boots that you paid that much for? It was a good investment. Thanks to Tony I won’t fall on my face this winter. If you have good shoes that need some tweaking as mine did, new soles for shoes and boots, or if you have handcrafted shoes or boots that need major repairs, Tony can do it. The great thing about good shoes and boots is that they do cost more, but they can be fixed, and last a lifetime if cared for — People like Tony can help you do it.

The best cobbler I have ever been to. He was quick, the work he did was fantastic, and he was affordable. I live in Oregon but may just start bringing my shoes that need help to South Bend when I’m visiting my family. Thank you, Tony! You da best!
