Great experience with the room and staff. Very pleased with our experience and will return when back in the area.

I had a great stay at your hotel. The staff was excellent and the room was one of the best I’ve stayed in. I’m a comedian on a long tour and this hotel has been one of the most relaxing places that I have stayed at yet. The location was great in relation to eateries in the local area, the staff was knowledgeable in local attractions that offered entertainment, and the hotel amenities were top notch. When I wasn’t going out into town, I was enjoying my time at the hotel. The swimming pool area offered an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. With plenty of lounge chairs around the pool, it was a perfect place to relax in the evening. The room had one of the most comfortable beds that I’ve ever slept in, and there was also a lounge chair, and a desk set up as well. All in all, this was one of my favorite hotels that I have stayed at in the last year, and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

On a 10 day road trip, with 6 hotel stops this way my favorite. I wish I had been staying here more than just one night. My room seemed a cut about what I’ve come to expect from the moderate price level hotels I usually stay in. Marble counter tops and modern furnishings made this property stand out to me. The front desk staff were really friendly and got me checked in lightning fast. They also informed me they offer complimentary chili(at least the day I was there) which is a good way to score brownie points with a «great big fat person» such as myself… and while we’re on the subject the free breakfast was pretty rockin’. Overall I was really impressed with everything here… If I’m back through South Bend I’ll probably try to stay here again.

Yuck. Admittedly, Hilton brand hotels are my brand of choice, but when in town for a travel tournament we were required to stay at the team hotel. Reading Tripadvisor reviews on the way down and finding out this was a pet friendly hotel was a huge red flag. I love dogs… I don’t love spotted carpets. Sure enough after check-in, went up to our room, huge stain on what looked to be new carpet. At this point I was hoping the room didn’t have fleas. Or worse. Luckily, bedding was clean or I would’ve been out of there. The room had been remodeled; sort of. While the bathroom tile, sink and toilet were visibly newer, the shower and jacuzzi tub were original and OLD. Baby blue tile kind of old. And I think Jacuzzis in hotels are a waste, personally. Who knows how well they’ve been cleaned. Bathroom definitely should have been remodeled entirely. The king bed was comfortable. The a/c units were old and loud. We also had a pullout sofa and a rollaway since they were out of the double bed room we requested. All of that aside, these are the specific reasons why I am giving this hotel 1 star: Stained Carpet Funky sewerage smell that would come and go from the bathroom on the second night. First night, went to request pillows for our rollaway and pullout… they were all out. Had to borrow extra pillows from teammate’s rooms. Maybe it’s just me but when I’m paying money to a hotel, I shouldn’t have to go door to door asking if anyone has a pillow they can spare. Luckily, we did get a set of linens for the pullout. I heard later arriving families were told they were out of linens for pullout beds later that night. Second night, went to request more bath towels at front desk because 3 bath towels is never enough for 5 people and was told they had no more extra towels to give out. Okay then. Literally ended up patting myself dry with two washcloths. Lastly, lazy housekeeping. Upon returning to our room after being gone all day, our king bed was made but the pullout couch and rollaway were left unmade. I have never had this experience before at any hotel. The pullout couch is usually turned back into a couch during the day or at the very least, made up and rollaway beds at other hotels have always been made just like the regular beds. I’m at a loss for why they were not made. I asked other teammates and it was about a 50⁄50 split. Some said yes, their pullout couch had the bed made, others said nope, theirs was like ours; they returned to the same wrinkled, unmade mess they had left in the morning. The eggs. What can I say about the eggs? Gross is not a strong enough word. Rehydrated yellow discs that were rubbery and had zero taste. If you’re going to offer hot breakfast, make it halfway decent. If not, just offer continental so people won’t expect actual eggs to be available in the morning. Hot, stinky, loud and creaky elevators. Was grateful every time I made it up or down from my floor. Chairs in the common area around all of the tables were stained. Could not get the wifi to connect to my phone in the room. There are definitely better hotels in South Bend for about the same price.

I stayed here on a cross-country drive based on the other Unilocal reviews. I was really disappointed. Nice staff but my room seemed really run-down and it even had marks on the door like someone had tried to break-in at some point in the past. I would not stay here again.

Walking into the room, we were greeted by the smell. It smelled like a wet, moldy dog. We tried to turn on the fan and discovered that the unit was broken… no heat, no ac. Then the screaming started. Apparently the place was hosting a lacrosse tournament. All night, screaming, stomping, running in the halls. We’d asked for a crib and one was waiting in the room… but it was collapsed and there were no sheets. We called the front and asked for sheets and were told to come and get them ourselves. Went to use the bathroom… found a couple dozen dead/not-so-dead ants. Half-dollar sized spider spider came out and said hello and his buddy waived from above the bed. Walked out in the morning to our car and there were 20 kids throwing lacrosse balls around in the parking lot… poorly…near our car. We’ve stayed here multiple times since they opened, the last time being about 4 years ago. I don’t know if they changed ownership or what, but the place is falling apart. The building can’t be more than 10⁄15 years old and it feels like it’s 50. Never again.

The Comfort Suites is a immaculately clean hotel that is perfectly located to the downtown area, University of Notre Dame, the airport and the toll road for those coming in from Chicago. The staff was friendly and took care of all our needs and had a answer for every questions. This will definitely be my hotel of choice next time I am in the South Bend area.

The staff was great however I had a feeling my room was not as clean as it could have been. There was hair that was not mine in the shower a few stains on the carpet and a splatter of something on the wall I have posted pictures of them. There was also a stain on the top comforter. And last but not least the toilet kept running all night. This hotel needs to be maintenance.

The staff was friendly and the location was pretty good. I found the room to be reasonably clean, but then this is not a newer hotel. It is older so … Anyway, I also found the place to be a bit loud. Too much noise from the hallways and in general. Breakfast served is ok — very basic. Not sure I would recommend this place — shop around first as I think you can find a nicer place for the money.

Wonderful staff. My parents were upgraded to a king suite at no additional cost over the Christmas Week. They also allow pets and my parents have a black lab. We had a pizza party one night with about 15 people and they were great even with a messy toddler. The only downer was that the pool heater broke down and we couldn’t go swimming mid-week.
