Funky décor, and incredible clam chowder. Perhaps the best I have ever had. Also had salmon tacos, while sitting by a window overlooking the river. Love this place!

Not an oyster lover so finding good food in the South Bend area is difficult. The food we had, the steamer clams and meat and cheese plate, was excellent and the service was great as well as friendly.

Having driven up and down many portions of 101 over the years, I’ve had my fair share of disappointment when it comes to coastal dining. So much wonderful seafood comes from these waters yet the vast majority of restaurants seem intent on deep-frying all of it. Why? I just want to eat a damn raw oyster! 101 Public House is the rare and wonderful exception(they don’t even have a fryer!!). One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. I got the oyster stew, my companion got the salmon sandwich/burger, and we split a half dozen oysters on the half shell. The oysters were fresh and creamy, the soup was perfectly seasoned(with three large oysters within), and the sandwich was simple and well executed. Service was also great and very friendly. Overall I have no complaints and will absolutely eat here if I end up in South Bend again. Highly recommended.

Best Clam Chowder I’ve ever had. The potato salad that came with my burger was awesome. Location is beautiful — right on the bay. The seating is a bit rustic — but fun. Friendly staff, just one small glitch — and should be a learning experience for staff. My entrée was served and then we had to ask the waitress if my husband’s was coming soon. She had completely forgotten his order. Understandable maybe on a crazy busy day, but not when it was as quiet as it was and the two other tables with customers had already been served. :( My husband’s entrée came after I had finished mine. We only got a very weak«I’m sorry about that». We didn’t complain at the time as we are on vaca and had a good meal, but the excellent customer service thing to do would have been to take his order off the bill, or at the very least to offer a dessert, etc. But don’t let that dissuade you from visiting. The food, location and friendly staff make this a great stop.

We randomly ate there and it was amazing! Seriously a fabulous meal and wonderful service! I’m from philly and I truly enjoyed every single bite! It is very clean(I am obsessive about that)! Not to mention the view was breath taking!

Outstanding food for the area, took over an hour for our dishes to be served piece-meal on a quiet afternoon. When asked how everything was the whole table spoke of the long wait, and we were told that we had a new server who should have told us they experienced a lunch rush and service would be slow. We were baffled by this. Never should there be an excuse of being too busy when we cant see anything but a slow restaurant. Most of our orders were salads and raw oysters… Which require no cook time.

Absolutely amazing. We were driving through town and had the best service and dinner. We will be making this a regular stop for sure. Highly recommended!

Stumbled upon this one of a kind gem on our way home. From the help-yourself fridge full of beer to the food that was fresh and delicious to the staff that made you feel like you were having a reunion with your best friends from childhood. This is now a must stop on our monthly trips to Cannon Beach! We didn’t get to experience a show, sadly. But I can only imagine they are incredible. If you’re in South Bend, stop. You won’t be disappointed.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience at 101 Public House. As a resident, I would recommend going to The Pitchwood(no kids) or to River View Dining(kid friendly). The Public House offers a great view of the Willapa, but the food is horrible and the service worse. I especially would not recommend this restaurant for children, especially those with dietary restrictions such as lactose. The children’s menu offers 3 entrée selections, all containing dairy, with no sides. I would like to see a better balanced meal, for example, with fruit. And I would like to see more options, so I didn’t have to order a $ 8 hamburger for a 3 year old. My husband and I were also dissapointed with our meals. I ordered the prawn /butter pasta for around $ 20 — it had 2 prawns total, 1 of which was cut up(who does that to seafood???) And my husband’s hamburger was overcooked, and again offered no sides(no french fries or salad) We arrived at 5:00 with a party of 4, only 2 other small parties in the restaurant, and each of the meals in our party arrived 5 minutes apart… Seriously.

Oh this place was a wonderful find! It is by the river so you have a beautiful view and there was a live jazz band jamming away. The hostess was so sweet. I Had the oyster stew mmhmm yummy yummy. Hit the spot perfectly. I really suggest making a spot here if you are in the area. =^.^=

Took the scenic route on the way back from Portland to Seattle. Stopped by 101 Public House to try out their oysters. We ordered the oyster stew, roasted oysters and raw oysters. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend stopping by here if you’re in the area. Ambience feels very homey and casual. The only reason I didn’t give the full 5 stars was because the service was a bit lacking. They only had one waitress and she had to go to the back to help shuck some of the oysters. But as we were not in a rush, it wasn’t a big deal.

What a gem! Saw the«world’s biggest oyster» out front and had to check the place out. The unique and thoughtful décor was a good indication of the overall experience. The food was extremely fresh, creative, well prepared, and fairly priced. The service was warm and personal. We started with the cioppino(an italian tomato based seafood soup) and it was incredible. Had to order more fresh garlic bread to wipe the bowl clean! We then had a dozen raw and roasted oysters. Oh man, genuinely the best oysters we’ve ever had! The owner Aimee explained that the impeccable quality of the oysters is due to the water in the Willapa bay estuary. Its absolutely pristine and makes for the happiest healthiest oysters in the world. Check this site out, she’s not exaggerating: . We were on our way to Portland so after our delicious lunch Aimee, a Portland native, shared an awesome list of some of her favorite local spots there. We will be sure to come back in the evening one day to explore the dinner menu and enjoy some great live music. Turns out 101 Public House is a very popular venue for bands touring the PNW!

It doesn’t get fresher than this dockside restaurant, where whatever’s growing in the bay is being served on your plate. From the clams in the chowder to the«extra small»(plenty large for me) oysters, to whatever fish is available. What really sells me on this place is the homegrown atmosphere. The waitress/hostess and chef know all of the townie regulars who stop in. I had a nice, long chat with the waitress/hostess(it’s the offseason, so she was the only one) and her husband about oysters. I learned, for example, that«large» oysters out here are the size of steaks. I would love to eat an oyster steak. But I can make do with the fresh seafood here in the meantime. It’s not fine dining. I don’t see that as a downside, but it feels like a step up from a cafeteria inside.(It’s all table service, don’t worry.) I imagine that with a large part of the local population being blue-collar, and the rest being passers-through, that there is no place in South Bend for upscale, and that’s fine with me. Only downside I noticed is that the prices can be hit or miss. 6 oysters for $ 9 if fried, but for $ 15 if grilled. Does it really cost $ 6 to grill them? The dessert is pricey. Good, but probably not worth what you have to pay. The oyster shucker was home for the night, so I didn’t get to have any on the half shell/raw, not that I really need raw oysters in my life but it would have been an experience.(The remaining staff«sorta» knew how to shuck, but was worried about doing it wrong. I guess if I really wanted it, they might have bent for me. Or if I had been a local, certainly.) I almost feel like this should be a 4-star review, but there’s something so satisfying about chatting about local life while eating and having that interpersonal relationship going on. I have absolutely no idea why my travels would ever send me this way again, but I would return right here if they did.

We needed some coffee– any coffee– during our road trip. We didn’t intend to stay, but the place is so cute and airy that we decided to. My mocha was as expertly pulled as a skilled Seattle barista! The sandwich menu looked appetizing so we picked up a couple to go. Can’t review, haven’t eaten yet. We will make this our coffee stop from now on!

Only stopped in for an espresso to go but would stop here again based on my observations: Adorable little place on your way to the beach, right on the water and next to the public bathrooms. Looks like they make their own pastries, a full espresso menu, wifi, cozy seating area, pleasant staff

Great location, great food and friendly helpful people. Indoor and outdoor seating right on the river/willapa bay. Perfect spot for an afternoon road trip break or evening getaway. The oyster burger is top notch! Live music on occasion and quite a collection of vinyl to spin as well!

I enjoyed the organic greens and the wild caught salmon for my sandwich. I’m not an oyster fan in general, but my husband said it was the best oyster experience he’d ever had. Love that there was effort put forth towards organic, local, and wild-caught foods. Seems like it would be hard to find in a small town in Washington. Perfect stop-off for dinner on a perfect day on our way back to Seattle.

Raymond/South Bend are very small towns which is why it always surprises me that they have two very good restaurants. The service is exceptional and the food even better. You won’t find French fries here but you will find amazing food and a great view

We enjoyed delicious wilapa bay oysters on a patio overlooking the water. The local, organic burger and salad was super fresh and tasty. The burger had a roasted tomato spread on it that was sublime! Service was excellent; cool vibes all around!

The view was very good, the sauce on fried oysters was tasty. Everything was clean and the waitress was reasonably friendly. However, We’ve ordered oysters, there are two options: 6 raw or 6 fried. We wanted to try 3 raw and 3 fried ones, but they didn’t do that. Even though sometimes it’s clear that a restaurant can’t accommodate all people’s requests, in that case it was clear that they could just didn’t want to. Another thing, a couple who got in after us, got their orders taken before us, and was brought food before us. We’ve also ordered oysters stew, the soup is way too heavy.
