One of the best local restaurants with great food and excellent service. The vegetables were fresh and crisp and the food prepared to perfection. The servings were plentiful. The décor is simple but elegant. I’m looking forward to when they add their sushi bar in the coming weeks(the design and layout is already in place), as a I plan to bring my pals to one of the best finds in Santa Cruz.

Just enjoyed a great meal here. All the portions were generous, the food was fresh, vegetables cooked crisp, the sauces light and flavorful, and the wait staff is attentive. The ambiance is simple not over decorated but with an elegance. What is amazing is I’d expect this from a restaurant in a higher price range and this restaurant was moderately priced and very good all round. And the Asian fusion on the menu is the bonus. Don’t like Won Ton soup? Then have Miso instead. Not up for pot stickers? Then have spring rolls. Nice blend of Chinese, Japanese and a little South Asian. I hear they are adding a sushi bar next. I will go back again.

Every take-out has been great. Salty at times but I love salt. Hot, fresh and flavorful. We order take out 2 to 3 times a month. I have not tried the sushi yet.

This is my favorite Chinese food in Santa Cruz county! The staff can be a bit eccentric, but the food is always excellent every time I come in. Favorites are the pork pot stickers, pork fried rice, and ginger beef.

Enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner here. The food was actually much better than I expected. The high marks are Unilocal!Have proven to be tried and true! We had traditional Cantonese style Vegetable Chow Mien, Combination WonTon Soup, and the best Salt & Pepper Fish(seasonal). It was great! Also, the bathrooms were super clean(big deal for Chinese and Indian restaurants) and the toilet paper was more soft than grandma’s house. I think it was four-ply Charmin! Hey, as funny as it sounds, its all these small details that make for a great experience.lol. Right?

Hot sour soup gave us a false sense of excitement . We enjoyed the great service, the food not so much.

Apparently and contrary to what the waitress told me, Golden Fu Wah is not being replaced by a sushi bar, they are adding a sushi bar to their Chinese restaurant. I must have misunderstood her. I have not eaten here since October and continue to be disappointed in the Chinese food in Santa Cruz county. Service at Golden Fu Wah is great, food is not.

I knew it’d be good when I saw the Spicy oil mixture on every table. If you’re here for lunch, order the Kung pao tofu, extra pow! I had ‘Golden Fu Wah’ bookmarked for a long time knowing they’d be a hit. It’s about time we had a vegan friendly Chinese here. Vegetarian types will like it too.

As many of us know, good Chinese food is not an easy find in Santa Cruz County. While some come close to being good, most of them ultimately fail. So u decided to go to Unilocal and find the place with the highest rating and I was not disappointed. After along day I wanted to sit down and enjoy some Chinese food, which I had craved for a month, but it was already 9 and they closed at 9:30 so I knew I was taking a risk. Not only was the food delicious and the service polite, but when it was 9:30 and I asked for a box to go(I don’t like making people wait after closing hours) they told me to sit down and enjoy the meal. They even brought me more water and asked if I wanted anything else. Great food! Amazing service! Will come again soon! –Ricardo

This place has delicious food! Love it. The owner is ridiculously nice. I recommend getting the sesame balls and the potstickers. They gave us green beans as compliment appetizers

While staying in Santa Cruz We decided that we were tired of the usual tourist fare that is regularly available in pretty much every tourist city in the world. On the coast its fried seafood and burgers and inland it’s pizza, burgers and steaks. Santa Cruz is no exception so we looked around on Unilocal and found this little Chinese restaurant. Upon arrival the signs pointed to pretty good Chinese food. Placed in a decorative nooks above the table water conservation notices from hotels read«please help us save water, a towel on the ground means please wash. A towel hung up means will use again». So clearly English is not the first language of the proprietor, usually a good sign. We ended up ordering the #1 family dinner and some pot stickers. The pot stickers ended up being ok and comically enough the food wasn’t exactly authentic Chinese food which I guess is to be expected. With that said the chicken chow mein was some of the best I have had and the fried was also really good. I would say that this is some of the best Americanized Chinese food I have ever had right down to the sweet and sour pork. I know some other reviews have pointed out the lack of actual Chinese fair and pretty much criticized anyone who likes this stuff but our meal was really good. With that said I would like to leave sone parting words. The«draft beer» on the menu is in a bottle. Also the portion size was ridiculous, I think we could have easily fed two more people with our dinner for 2. With all that said if you just want some Americanized Chinese basics done well this is your outfit.

The best Chinese in Santa Cruz County. I’ve tried most in the area, especially in Capitola, and its the best in terms of price, quality, portion, and service. Pork Fried Rice: $ 9 serving could feed a 5 person family, or 3 people as main dishes. No joke. Maybe only 3 people as sides if you’re Samoan. Mongolian Beef: My go to at Chinese restaurants. Again, huge portion, great flavor, spicy enough for flavor but not too much to regret in the morning. Would prefer crispy rice noodles as the base over crispy egg noddles but that’s really splitting hairs. Beef is of good quality. Wonton Soup. Its above average, not bad but I have really high standards on wonton soup so thats probably not a fair statement. I don’t judge Chinese restaurants by the décor, I judge them on water refills. They hooked it up on the water and tea. Didn’t charge for tea either. Service was rad, very friendly and attentive.

I was thinking that after Golden Buddha Went out of business that maybe trying The next chinese restaurant to come may be risky. Well I’m glad we tried it ! The restaurant is clean, and the staff are just lovely, very helpful and we were cared for nicely, the food came out very fast and was the best chinese that I’ve had in a long time. I like lemon chicken and this one was lightly battered and cooked in fresh oil and the lemon sauce was nicely balanced. We also ordered the Mongolian Beef, it was nicely seasoned and served with both green onion and white onion and some nice crispy noodles. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Staff is really sweet, and the food is delicious!!! My boyfriend and I had the Mongolian tofu and the Szechwan tofu. Szechwan tofu stole the show fa sho. They lady who I’m guessing owns the restaurant. was incredibly sweet. You can tell that she cares about what you think of the food, and if you don’t like it, she will whip you up another dish, no hassle. Not feeling like you’re a burden, thats good food business.

I sometimes have to take a look at Unilocal reviews and look at the overall picture, such as how many of the same types of restaurants are in the area or what the economy is like. For example, if you see a 5 star rating on a Mexican food joint in a small town that only has 2 places and the income in the area is high, then semi good food at a high price might seem like the norm, but how will that same restaurant do in an area with 20 Mexican food places? I feel like this was the issue with Golden Fu Wah. We stopped in the other night and the first think that I thought was this place looked like a restaurant that we would see in a Stephen King book. It was empty, old school and depressing. The items in the menu we a little high priced and the selection was a strange one. We ordered, Mongolian beef, Green beans with chicken, chow mein and steamed rice. The food was just average in my opinion not bad but not really good. Noodles we greasy and the vegetables seemed to be a tad undercooked. Like I said, it wasn’t all bad, but for 9 dollars a plate, I can get way better for cheaper. My real issue is with the lady that helped us. She would hover over our table and watch us from another window, almost to the point of being creepy. She one time put our Mongolian beef on table and said everyone talks about it and wanted to watch us eat it and see how we liked it. Also, we had two items left over and when we asked for boxes she shoved both in same box! WTH is up with that! Overall I don’t think I would return, but if you are looking for a new place, give them a try, maybe your experience might be better then mine.

My wife and I were in the mood for Chinese food and given the limited options in the area, we decided to give this place a try. It ended up being a very good decision. We ordered the potstickers which we were told were homemade, beef Chow fun and the Basil Chicken. As we waited for our food, the owner treated us to complimentary hot and sour soup! Everything was delicious, the potstickers were especially good. The dough was not too thick and the filling was very good. I’m not sure why someone would complain that this is Americanized Chinese food? Who cares! The food itself was good quality, very tasty and not over priced. We will be back, often!
