While staying at the Sonoma Mission Inn I had the distinct pleasure of having lunch at the Taqueria Sonoma. Tucked away in a small shopping center off Sonoma Highway and Siesta Way. Sample: Caldo De Res The beef stew is wonderful. I was not up for the whole bowl, but it was packed full of meat and vegetables. The veggies are cut up small meaning that it is cooked while the customer waits. This is a good thing since it means everything is fresh. The broth tasted just the way I like. Full of flavor. I was a little surprised to see tomatoes in the broth. The color is a bit reddish, and not as clear as it often is. Nonetheless the taste is the all important determiner of satisfaction. The soup comes with chips and salsa since it is over $ 5.00. The beef stew is packed with meat too. The meal also includes Spanish rice and tortillas of your choice. Flour or corn. They also include a small cob of corn in the soup and potatoes. Very satisfying.

SUPERBURRITO Es muy super! Since my go to for fast Mexican food is out of business Taqueria Sonoma is now my favorito para burritos en Sonoma. The staff is always friendly and the food is always served up fresh. The Pollo Deshenbrado is not too dry and not to wet, it’s just perfect and moist. The carne Asada is also wonderful. If you find yourself in the Springs and hungry for good fast food give Sonoma Taqueria a try, you won’t leave disappointed. And if you want a quality pub you can poke you head in next door for a taste of the real Sonoma.

DISGUSTING! this place is nothing less than disgusting. The tacos were loaded with cilantro and onions hardly any meat. My daughter had a burrito that was stuffed with mostly wilted lettuce. The horchata was mostly powdered down. not fresh at all. The place was dirty, tables were not clean. The chips are stale. Fountain drinks were stale and watered down. The salsa bar had flies in it. The salsa bar cover was dirty, looks like it hadn’t been washed in YEARS. After we ate, we both ended up with a belly ache. This should be called TAQUERIADIARRHEA because that’s what you get when you eat here.

Taqueria Sonoma doesn’t display it’s menu on it’s windows so i had to press up against the window to squint at the menu board. got a few stares from the patrons within. went to the corner tenant. no food there so returned. typical taqueria menu. eats: lenqua burrito(6.99) –above average sized burrito, lots of tender lengua, small amount of broken rice, some mild salsa within. –got some chips and salsa to go with it. salsa from salsa bar too. 4ish stars. good lengua, average salsa. average commercial chips. –frijoles refritos: not many patrons here. –setup looks like former sammie/sandwich/coffee shop

I was sure I was going to give this place 5 stars. Mostly because all I can think about is the pork tacos. Unfortunately we also ordered a ceviche tostada, which as inedible. Literally $ 3.50 we ended up tossing in the trash. The pork tacos were pretty much the best pastor tacos I’ve ever had, and I eat them often. Also, place is a little run down for the price. $ 27.50 for the two of us(3 tacos each, tostada :(, sodas).

Decent Mexican food. Menu selections are all the usual culprits. Think cheap eats. I’ve eaten here twice. Enjoyed the meals. Food had the right amounts of starch, proteins and oil. Flavorful. Dining room is basic, more sparse than a Denny’s. Brightly lit. There’s lots of inexpensive Mexican cuisine up and down the road in the neighborhood. This place rates in the upper echelon.

the ambiance and upkeep leaves a bit to be desired but they make some awesome dishes. be willing to try something new here, the basics are great but they do some other amazing and authentic dishes. Try the Molcajete steaming pot it is great and their shrimp cocktail is soo good with crunchy veggies and avocado in it. two new items we have tried lately and enjoyed. Also they make a great bean and cheese burrito with veggies in it that our 6 yr old loves!

Shredded chicken is excellent here. The al pastor super-taco was extremely good. We enjoyed both the beans and rice.

I’m a regular at Taqueria Sonoma. I come here fairly often, usually about once every other week. I always order a super burrito with grilled chicken. It is so juicy, savory and delicious. It is chock full of flavor and it fills me up every time. You get complementary chips and salsa with your purchase of $ 5 or more. The salsa is fantastic! It’s self serve so you can get as much as you’d like. The prices are decent. It’s a little bit more than average, but it’s well worth it for the quality.

Do not eat here. I do not know what happened to the original owners of this place, but whoever owns it now is doing a terrible job. It is unclean the tables are sticky and they leave a rag near the salsa tray. Furthermore you couldn’t even see the salsa, the plexiglass is scratched so badly. It’s not the same staff that was there before, it’s a new staff very very young and very inexperienced in the areas of sanitation. it’s gross, I won’t eat there again.

Either they think I’m stupid or the only difference here between the Shrimp Rancheros and the Shrimp Fajitas is the plate. They don’t know how to make Shrimp Rancheros. So don’t order that.

Really more like 3.5 stars. Solid food, very nice people. Go for the super tacos al pastor or the torta cubana. Both delicious and filling. Salsas are a little bland, but hey. They’ll happily deliver to the brew pub next door which is awesome.

[Out-of-towner Review] A taqueria that delivers? This might just be Heaven! As our weekend of wedding activities continued, the boys(and myself) went to find some brews to settle the Grooms nerves. After figuring out our libations at Olde Sonoma Public House, we were told they didn’t serve food — BUT, to order next door and they will deliver it. What a great match-made-in-drinking-Heaven! Beer and Mexican food, doesn’t get much more Californian than that. I don’t think Sonoma is synonymous with Mexican food, but they didn’t do bad. Since I’m reviewing this after only one visit, bare with me please. You walk in and it’s as taqueria-y as you can get. Mexican cokes(and a plethora of soda and Jarritos) in a self-serve fridge, a menu that expands the whole wall with pictures of most of the dishes, and very small in nature. Pricing was average, given that I don’t know Sonoma very well. I ordered a very simple burrito — carnitas, rice, and guacamole. I needed something to absorb the alcohol from the prior night. All I can say is that it was good — good in taste and good in size. The Spanish rice was tasty, not overly salty, the carnitas had flavor, the guacamole was not memorable(because at the moment, I cannot expand on its taste). Others ordered the shrimp tacos, carne asada tacos, nachos, and a chicken burrito. Everyone seemed to be content and there were no complaints. Goes well with beer…

There was nothing good about this place. It seemed dirty inside, so I should have walked out. I was next door at the pub though, which doesn’t offer food, so was told to go next door. The chicken tacos were ridiculously spicy, the burrito looked terrible, and out of a group of 8 people about 5 of us felt sick a couple hours after eating it. A word to the wise, stay away! Even if you next door drinking…

The best casual Mexican food in Sonoma! My husband is a chef and we are both in the hospitality industry — this place is great. The owner is almost always working and the food is fresh and deliciously authentic. We always go for the Carnitas burrito and the chile rellenos but everything we’ve ever had off the menu is fantastic! Value priced and great salsas — Highly recommend this spot!

This place is amazing. Their tacos are to die for, my mom begs me constantly to get them for her. We never get food poisoning, eat here daily, these other people are full of crap. Excellent restaurant!

This is my favorite cheap Taqueria in Sonoma. I love the Veggie Taco Salad, the ingredients are fresh and the salsa they put on top is fantastic. They also have great burritos and plates. In the winter they have Taco Soup which is good and cheap, if you get it to go one serving is more than enough for two people.

This is where the local Mexican workers eat. My wife and I eat here about 4 times a month, and, then attend a matinée movie in the same little shopping center. Nice family run. No frills. Good food.

SUCH a hidden gem, this was an accidental discovery… there’s lots of taquerias in Sonoma area, but we were hungry and desperate to get some food in, before wine tasting. This place is located in a mexican mall at the corner… The absolute BEST horchata in the world, i kid you not… Also their breakfast burrito is da bomb. hot, fresh ingredients, just the perfect amount of beans and rice to sausage and eggs wrapped in a meltingly beautiful burrito. cheap and affordable, down to earth, you can’t get a better head start or get a more traditional fare. a must for a quick tide-over in this beautiful wine country! i dig it!

This small place, brightly lilt and brightly painted, is an authentic, delicious stop for real Mexican food. The chile relleno was super tasty, filled with cheese and cooked to perfection. The shredded chicken super taco(soft) was huge, covered with yellow rice, a piquant salsa, fresh cilantro, and the best Mexican spiced shredded chicken I’ve tasted. The standout was the marinated pork super taco– so much delicious pork, I could not even see the soft taco tortilla beneath it. All of the salsas at the«bar» were fresh and flavorful, and the small side of guacamole was green in color and had that«just made» taste. A great find for real Mexican items.
