This review is for the new place, sweet scoops! Yay, a HIGHQUALITY ice cream maker is back in town! Since Ben and Jerry’s left town, Sonoma has been sadly lacking in decent ice cream options. This new product is great! The shakes are yummy too. Now one of the local restaurants should highlight one of the ice creams in a dessert, we need to keep this place in business!

I was not at all impressed… I got a SINGLE scoop of ice cream and a can of root beer for my $ 4.50 root beer float. On my home way from our trip, I got a much better, and cheaper, root beer float at Wienerschnitzel.

How is there only one review for this place? It’s amazing! Thick, dense, creamy ice cream goodness! My favorites in this particular order are: salted caramel peanut, Bordeaux Cherry, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate brownie thunder. Nom nom nom! The prices for the sizes are perfect, and the staff are always friendly.

While visiting Sonoma with a group of senior citizens from Alameda, it was quite hot(in the 90’s) when my husband and I were walking in the area. We stopped in at Grandma Linda’s Ice Cream to cool off. I was eyeballing the strawberry cookie sandwich($ 5.00). It sure looked good in the freezer case. My husband was thirsty, so he settled on a strawberry lemonade slurpee($ 2.50). Grandma Linda’s is a cute little ice cream parlor with a huge hot pink front door. There weren’t a lot of seats to sit in, as most of them were occupied by our friends. I wanted to give this place a 4 star; however, the chocolate chip cookie was a tad hard, especially the chocolate chips, and the strawberry ice cream started melting under the hot weather. Then I was also disappointed because the ice cream lacked flavor. I had a sip of my husband’s strawberry lemonade slurpee — was it overwhelmingly tart — and he dumped over half of it out. The three star is for the ambiance and the nice lady who was assisting us.
