Had the veggie lasagne with chickpea base. Delicious! They even heat it up for us. Will be back for sure!

The quality of food is definitely 5 starts, only thing is they sometimes run out by the end of the day so head over early, also not everything is refrigerated which seems a little odd because dairy products do spoil, place was not air conditioned in the month of June either just a fan going, was pretty hot in there. Love the idea of the place, freshly prepared local(ish) food, some stuff like their chicken is from pa, love the owner she was very friendly offering samples, just with there were prices and names of items displayed. Expensive but you get a lot of food for your dollar, one chicken pot pie was $ 13 but fed my family of 3, twice.

Based on my experience with The Farmer And The Chickpea at the Summit Farmer’s Market, I cannot wait to try their brick and mortar store. I picked up some of their parmesan chickpea pizza/bake and it was amazing!!! While it may not be for everyone, the mix of cheese, chickpeas and topping all baked together was a wonderfully tasty surprise. It’s comfort food that still lets you fit into your pants the next day! The staff was wonderful, offering recommendations and answering many people’s questions. I highly encourage everyone to check them out!

I heard about The Farmer and The Chickpea a while ago. I finally got a chance to stop by. I was amazed at the works of art which were displayed. I wanted to get everything, but decided on 3 dishes to take home. A roasted cauliflower with cheese, onions and mushrooms. A+. would definitely get again. A white bean meatball with zucchini spaghetti. Oh my God, it was great. Lastly, black beans with corn. Again, excellent. I brought it all home and my husband, a.k.a. Mr. Picky, loved each order. We had it again today as left overs, still quite the delight with each bite. I will be back each week, this is my new place to go, and did I mention healthiest food I have had in a long time that tasted so good. The pricing was on each item, so I knew how much I was spending. Very reasonable. What a find!!!

I am not a fan of having food sit out at room temp. Interesting recipes but I like my salads refrigerated.

Jillian, Ashely, and Jess are all amazing. These women have poured their heart and soul into TFATCP. Their food is out of this world amazing. We held a party here and I would HANDS down recommend them if you want a party catered(pick up only!). Everyone at our party said the food was sublime(including those with food allergies– dairy and gluten free!!). The farmer and the chick pea could not rank higher on my list thanks to the amazing food lovingly prepared by the warmest and most enthusiastic women around.

Third trip there tonight. Service was friendly. Portions are huge. Food was fabulous as always. I had a chickpea artichoke casserole and a kale brown rice salad. Flavors were excellent. I wish they would publish a cookbook.

Cool place, great selection of prepared foods. The area definitely needs selection like this. Quiches are good, pastas are good. However, one BIG issue that I am concerned with; temperature regulation. All the cooked foods are very nicely displayed around a big table. Great décor and displays. However, the food sits out in the open ALLDAY with no ice, refrigeration or on the contrary, heat to keep bacteria at bay. How does this pass health regulations? It’s too bad, as I would go in there a lot but just don’t as I really don’t feel like downing a bottle of Pepto after I eat. Really needs to be addressed.

AWESOME!!! Truly an amazing one of a kind place! Everyone needs to check out this hot spot. Unique setup as this is an «indoor“version of their«outdoor» farmers market. This is not a restaurant but you’re welcome to sit and order food, some things are made to order so I’d suggest have a little something or just browse through all their delights! From soup to salads, sandwiches to entrees, and the most decadent desserts, everything from gluten free to vegetarian, they’ve covered it all. Unbelievable experience for food lovers!

Fantastic fresh food prepared daily! Portions are huge and perfect for sharing or saving for additional meals. Purchased a large kale quinoa salad and a barley stuffed portobello mushroom for my office lunch club and 6 of us were able to split for $ 4 each! Their recipes are incredible and economical for the quality and quantity of food. Staff is warm and welcoming and very helpful with all dietary needs. This will become your latest obsession!

I am so thrilled they now have a store! It’s such high quality, delicious, healthy and fresh food! I wish I could eat it everyday! My only complaint is the place is dirty. Floors were gross and inside the glass where the food is kept was dingy. That bothered me a bit. Love the Kale salad, quiche, muffins. Everything! Delicious! Just get a mop and clean. If someone didn’t know how good it was they may walk out

stopped in an hour before the place closed and they had already turned their ovens off so everything we ordered to eat in couldn’t be warmed up unless we decided to wait it out for 30 minutes. why would you turn your ovens off BEFORE you close? as other reviewers have said, the food is displayed out in the open on a buffet table — completely uncovered without temperature regulation. this was a bummer because a lot of the food ended up looking like fake prop display food at the end of the day. the idea is creative and fun but doesn’t actual work. anyone and everyone has access to the food consumers will be eating for the rest of the day… let that sink in. ew. the atmosphere in general is cute and whimsy and i’d love to give the place another shot.(i was SO excited for something new and healthy to finally come to the area.) but not until they get their food storage situation under control. i can’t understand how it even passes health inspections.

The Farmer and the Chickpea is amazing! The farmers market set up is adorable. Food is displayed and on small chalkboard placards it describes the item and lists the price per serving. There were so many delicious items it was hard to decide. So we got the white bean meatball — yum, then the sunrise lasagna which was my favorite! Mix of butternut squash, potatoes, chickpeas, beets with ricotta and bechamel. I was in heaven, and the serving size was huge too, lots of leftovers. Then we also had the broccoli/cheddar quiche… so good, and the quinoa cake also very good. The food is amazing, fresh, you can taste the love. The staff is super helpful and attentive. You can heat and eat or take it home! Definitely a new favorite place to eat!

I had lunch here a few weeks ago and the food was great! Nice for a quick place to get healthier options since you pick what you want from pre cooked meals like you would at an actual farmers market. It’s adorable inside, and I’m very excited for them to start selling black river roasters coffee because they are also phenomenal. The only thing was that when we are there, we did wish there were a few more options of drinks that day they really only had root beer. But no big deal for me really the food made up for that. Tonight I ran by to grab take out since I wanted something for everyone and something healthier than Chinese or fast food. The pot pie is amazing so filling! It’s price is perfect. Not the cheapest but not overpriced it’s fair. Honestly I think it’s the best fast meal you can get in the area. Nothing tastes like its from a box or filled with preservatives it’s all so fresh and just really good! I’m very happy with tonight’s dinner!

Super place. We were a bit off put, by the lack of price labeling. Do we have to ask, for every item we look at? Superior food once you understand their plan for carryout. No item is priced for a single persons meal. I hope that decision, let’s them survive, here. That said, understand,… This is some of the best food you can eat, outside of driving to Pittsburgh. And, yes, I know NYC pretends.

The Farmer and the Chickpea is an absolutely incredibly place that has completely improved my culinary life. I only wish they had more locations, or that other people took a cue from them and opened places based on a similar model. The café is adorable, and the upcoming addition of Black River Roasters Coffee will make it the perfect place to stop for lunch or a snack/coffee. But, having the opportunity to get food to go, and bring home for dinner that night or throughout the busy week, is invaluable. The food is healthy, satisfying, and unlike anywhere else I have found — truly tastes homemade. They have a large number of vegetarian options, which can be very hard to find in the area. Everything is absolutely delicious. What’s more impressive, is the prices are quite reasonable for very large servings. My freezer is currently stocked with tons of Chickpea offerings — from the pulled pork pot pie to the white bean meatballs and vegetarian chili. I live 40 minutes away, but enlist my mom — who is local — to stock up on Chickpea specialities and bring them with her when she visits! THANKYOU for being such a fabulous addition to the area.

There are SOMANY wondrous and delicious items to choose from in this store. My new favorite(used to be the kale/chick pea salad… that has now officially dropped to number 2 on my favorite list…) is the Tomato Bisque Soup with chunks of tomato and the creamiest imaginable texture… what is in this ambrosial soup!!! Oh YUM! Anyone who spends an hour or two here will realize that there is no need for refrigerated cases because EVERYTHING flies out as fast as it’s cooked and stocked. I suggest going hungry to the Farmer and Chick Pea, hanging out, watching how the people who come and go for take out — or to sit and eat — leave with HUGE smiles and HUGE«Mmmmmmmm good» comments. If you don’t try the food here, you will be missing some of the more delicious and nutritious wholesome food in the area. The Farmer and Chick Pea come to the Somerville Farmer’s Market each year and sell out — what does THAT tell you about their food!!! Try it — you LOVE it! I sure do…

None better!!! I have been a customer of their cuisine for quite sometime. They have been a regular fixture at the Rutger Gardens Farmers Market for several years. Their food is Amazing and sooo fresh, there is none like it. My favorite is their Kale Salad with chickpeas. The portions are HUGE and prices are very fair. I’ve tried so many of their dishes, spinach pie is to die for and their various Lasagna’s are… Wow!!! I’ve never tried anything that I didn’t like and tend to buy way too much but have no problem eating it all up. I’ve been waiting to try out their new store and am really excited about it. Everything looks so good and now I can get my Kale fix whenever I need it. The staff is super friendly and make eating and trying new foods fun. Checkout their website and facebook pages for pictures of their stuff. Truly the best!!!

The Farmer and The Chickpea is a one of a kind eating establishment. Their farmers market followers who had been waiting patiently for their White House Station Store to open have not been disappointed. The quality is unsurpassed, the portions are phenomenal and the prices are reasonable. I have tried just about everything on the menu and could eat at The Farmer and The Chickpea 5 days a week. Everything is so fresh and rich in flavor. I can’t get enough of the Kale Salad. The rustic atmosphere makes The Farmer and The Chickpea a perfect fit for Hunterdon County.

Oh, what a tremendous addition to our community! The atmosphere is rustic and very comfortable with soft candles and lights. I’ve ordered food for three occasions; perfect choices. Lasagna, Eggplant, Italian bean pie and my large fresh salad were a hit! One other time, my guests loved the chicken pot pies, filled to the brim with meat. So many fresh veggies and herbs are used, the tastes are terrific. Their use of Rosemary is such a change. I always stuff my turkey with twigs of rosemary. I have to say everyone loved seeing and smelling the freshness. Great touch in the chicken pot pies! Having been open for only 8 weeks, it is great to see how fast the food arrives on the shelves, the customers come in praising their last purchase, swoop up the delicious food and the shelves are empty!

Unbelievable! The potatoe frittes were amazing and the chicken pot pie was probably the best I have ever had. The portion was enough for at least two meals, if not three and the price was reasonable. Aside from the food the staff was wonderful… Knowledgeable, pleasant and very accommodating. They made us feel like family. Would highly recommend trying this place.

Tried the chicken pot pie. Terribly salty and a mess inside. Pulled a stick out of my mouth. Food on display not covered, dont know how long out on display and buffet not temp controlled. The place needs a refrigeration display. Nice idea for the area but need better quality. Should have a display of prepared salads for take out…

I tried the chicken pot pie. While the flavor from fresh thyme and rosemary was fabulous, there wasn’t much chicken in it. I’d rather have more chicken and less potato. The carrots, peas and celery were fresh and not overcooked. Other food looked delicious. Prices may keep customers from returning but it’s something different and worth a try.

The Farmer and the Chickpea has a stand at the Hamilton Park Farmers Market in Jersey City, NJ on Wednesdays, and also at several other Jersey Fresh Markets. Their menu changes daily and everything — I do mean everything, from their breads to their quiches to their soups and their desserts — are so fresh and really truly delicious! The prices seem high at first, but actually, the portions are HUGE and totally worth it. They do sell a variety of meat and fish items, but if you’re a vegetarian or if you’re restricted to a gluten-free diet, then boy do they have lots of wonderful options for you! Today, I had a vegetable lasagna featuring summer corn, ricotta cheese and a chick pea«crust». I honestly was expecting a bland«healthy» lasagna, but man oh man, was I so impressed! It was such a simple dish, but so delicious. I also tried a coffee cake bread pudding that was loaded with cherries. I was worried that the cherries might ruin it, but it may have actually been one of the best bread puddings I’ve EVER had in my life… and believe me… I’ve had me some bread pudding over the years. I’m relieved the portions are big enough that I can consume them over a few days, because I would hate to have to wait a whole week for them to come back to my city!
