Overall, you get what you pay for. Room was clean and spacious. Also they’re pet friendly, which is a plus. But other than that I don’t have much else to say about this place.

This might actually be the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Firstly, I called a week in advance to change our reservation, but because the hotel is run by non-english speakers, she couldn’t understand that I was trying to change my reservation dates. So — when we showed up, our room was not reserved. Instead of having us wait a few minutes to properly clean a room, they gave us the only room they had available which was NOTCLEAN. There was spilled coffee on the counter, the towels were damp, and the entire room smelled of smoke. We got the room for $ 45(a discount) — but it’s not even worth that. In the morning — we went to cancel the following night’s reservation because this place is unacceptable. She said she was«sorry» and that they had to charge us the full amount($ 120!!!) for the evening, even though because we already had the room reserved, even though I could actually see her going on the computer and making our reservation for that night as we spoke. I kindly asked her to «please work with us, and at least give us a discount because the rooms are horrible, and we won’t be staying there.» She argued with me, and still charged us $ 75. The money issue is fine — I would gladly pay $ 100 to NOT stay here — but I wasn’t impressed by anything: the service, the rooms, the location, or the beetles everywhere.

I was looking for a cheap place to stay in the Bryan/College Station area for a Texas A&M home game weekend. Since it was fairly last-minute, most other places nearby were either fully booked or had much higher prices. Somerville Inn and Suites, while being a 25 minute drive from College Station, only cost $ 120 for two nights for a two-bed room. I was skeptical about the quality of the hotel, given these circumstances. In fact, I was quite surprised at how decent my stay turned out to be. The rooms had all the amenities I would expect from a motel, including cable TV, coffee maker, clean towels, shower, sink, toilet, internet access, soap and shampoo, mini-refrigerator, and desk space. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. My only major complaint is that the hotel is located only 50 yards from train tracks, with trains going past every couple of hours. The rooms were somewhat sound-proofed, but no doubt this will prove to be annoying for any light sleepers. The front desk area also appeared a bit shabby and desk staff was dressed a bit too casually to project a professional appearance to guests, but neither of these was of much concern to me since I was spending most of my time in the room anyway. Another small annoyance was that the room air conditioner was already turned off when I first checked in(no doubt to save money), so I had to endure a couple of minutes of heat while the room cooled. Once again, this is by no means a modern, 5-star hotel, but for the price I paid, it was a clean, comfortable place to stay that was within 25 minutes of College Station. This hotel’s rooms offer the standard of quality I would expect from any hotel room with only one major compromise(the occasional train noise). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is not bothered by this caveat.
