This is such a bizarre little park. Its essentially a continuation of the bike path. On any given day, you could run into people doing Tai Chi or tight rope walking. Or perhaps that group of really smelly people is doing another puppet show. Or you might encounter a group of small, singing children on a rope(with adult supervision, of course). The park has art as well. In particular, there are several very ugly mime-like statues. I’m not sure what’s up with that. Some of the most interesting art is really high up. Too high up in fact. It’s further complicated by the fact that some of the plaques are missing, which leaves you to wonder, what the hell is that, and what’s it doing way the hell up there? You’ll never know. However, this park is a pleasant enough place to spend some time thinking about it. Unless the smelly puppeteers are there. In that case, avoid it.

As you stand outside the front door of Johnny D’s Uptown, and gaze above the smaller of the two Davis Square T Stations, you’ll notice a faux cherry tree, and a cow on a weathervane. I saw these oddities for months, and never explored them any further. Finally, I ventured over to their base, and learned that these are part of the not-so-well-known«Seven Hills Park.» Within this park, there extends the famous family of masked statues reflecting the same artistic stylings as the short elderly couple in the center of Davis Square and the guy selling flowers outside the T. To the right side of the park, you’ll find a content looking family: mother, father, kid, baby… At the entrance to the park an entertainer of some sort greets you, as well as another concrete character. As you move through the park, you find posts bearing the history of Boston’s most famous Seven Hills. Atop each post, is a scultpture of something representative of each hill. A fish, a castle, a schoolhouse, just to name a few. The park has history, and a higher-than-average cool-factor, that most won’t even notice, unless you stop and take a look up.
