Worth the drive! They have a variety of ice cream flavors. I recommend the Snicka for Snickers if you are a caramel fan. Keep in mind the ice cream portions are Very generous. This place also has a cute farm where you can see how the staff treat the chickens, cows, and goats. Makes it great for kids and adults!

How in the world have I not reviewed richardsons? Omg. So good. I’ve been coming here my entire life. This farm was the best when I was little and is still amazing. They are one of the most amazing places to shop local. Their ice cream cones from their cows which you can meet & greet in the back, as does their milk. In the springtime you can see the calfs in their little huts as well as sheep, lamb, goats, chickens and more. It’s so much fun for little kids and adults alike. Year round they sell delicious homemade ice cream and frappes. My favorite is coffee health bar crunch frozen yogurt but their heavy ice cream is divine and I often splurge. They also have«food» which I say no to at every ice cream parlor. Something a or hot dogs and ice cream for me is a NO but I’m sure it tastes fine. Love love love the local and organic farm!

Aloha and Waikiki, Here is their phone number — 6176254088 and they are very much OPEN. They seem to be open during the week until 8pm, but who knows. I just wanted to say that their selection is slim, but Richardson’s ice cream is one of the best products I’ve had in New England. You can walk next door and drop waaay too much dough at Mr. Crêpe(not to be confused with Mr. Creep) or you can pop in and get the ice cream I affectionately refer to as «the ice cream that almost put Mr. Crepes out of business». The ice cream is so good, my friend Jenny bought a condo around the corner just so she could hoard all the best flavors for her family. When she heard Unilocal told her it was closed, she sold her condo and moved to Chicago, the home of the Hot Dog w/freakishly green relish. Turns out, they’re still open and that is a bank error in your favor, as more flavors should be at your disposal. * Pro tip * — they get new shipments in on the weekends, so you can start the hoarding process on your own. Also, their ice cream should not be eaten after midnight due to Gremlin’s Law.

For those of you who bemoan the fact that Richardson’s is not open year round you can take a trip to their dairy farm(and ice cream store) in Middleton, MA. They also market their ice cream to a lot of local places so you can probably find in more local for you city rats. :D

As others have noted, this place is not closed, just seasonal. I don’t really like ice cream enough to have a reason to buy a full tub in a store, and since Denise’s closed I’ve been settling for JP Licks for my occasional ice cream craving fix(emphasis on «settling»). I stopped here instead after a friend suggested it and JP Licks(as usual) had a huge line out the door, and I will not be able to go back to JP Licks after this. It reminded me of what ice cream should actually taste like; the service was prompt and friendly; and a small size here was over twice the size of what a medium size is at JP Licks for less money than JP’s medium(yes, you read that right). From now on, I’ll get my ice cream fix here when it’s open.

I love ice cream. I’ve been to every(or nearly every) ice cream place in Boston and no place comes close to Richardson’s. So sad they’re not open year round! They portions are GINORMOUS and it’s so delicious. My favorites are the coffee heath yogurt, purple cow and moose tracks. Don’t go to JP Licks and spend $ 4 for a teeny tiny small! Don’t walk all the way to Inman for Christina’s! I’d drive super far and pay more for Richardson’s cause it’s that good, but the fact that it’s SO cheap and convenient make it that much better. Definitely the best ice cream in Boston(or Somerville)!

Excellent ice-cream and very inexpensive(a little over $ 5 for 2 smalls!). The cappuccino yogurt is delicious– tastes like ice-cream, for real.

Actually, quite open, though erratically. It’s a seasonal affair, generally from Memorial Day to Labor Day, so I understand the confusion. But no, not closed. Get your licks here! — Bigger portions of better ice cream for way less than across the street.

I love love love loooooooove their fat free yogurt. It sounds cliché but it really tastes like ice cream. You can trust me; I once was like you and only enjoyed full fat dairy products. I recently tried the ‘Purple Cow’(Black Raspberry Yogurt with Chocolate Chips) and it’s so deliciously tasty. I think ‘Oreo’ might still be my favorite though. Ok I have to stop now because I’m getting hungry(again). I’ll be back, be ready for me Richardson’s and next time maybe I’ll want something bigger than a small. Who knows what the future will hold?

Here are all the reasons why I love this place: — the line is much shorter than JP Licks — the ice cream is WAY cheaper than JP Licks — the portions are enormous– eNORmous — free jimmies! This place is a hidden gem, tucked into a wall of the Somerville Theater. There’s pretty much no reason to go to JP Licks unless tere is a very particular flavor you want that you can only get there.

If I am not mistaken, I believe this is that tiny place attached to the Somerville Theatre, where you can only order at their little window? Anyways, damn good ice cream and they give you HUGE portions. I just wanted a small cup and I think they gave me like three substantial scoops. I can’t imagine how enormous their large is. A diabetic’s nightmare. The perfect sweltering, humid night in Somerville would include this: 1. A meal at Antonio’s Italian restaurant across the street, followed by… 2. An interesting, inexpensive and air-conditioned movie at the Somerville Theatre, ending with… 3. Ice cream at Richardson’s. And if you are a drinkin’ individual you may want to follow that with some booze at the Burren. Enjoy.
