Chicken and Shakes Automotive

NEVER again! My mother brought her car in to get fixed after and accident. It took TWO weeks to fix what the insurance company said normally takes 7 days. Then to top it off they messed up her drivers side window. After we went through a parking garage we couldn’t get it to stay up. Bring it back an hour later and they start screaming at us saying «We never worked on this side. It’s normal to have to inch a window up and have a small opening at the top.» What?!? Funny part is as they’re screaming and declaring to us they didn’t do anything they roll the window down and it gets stuck. Then they start to panic. They finally get it back up after 10 minutes of playing with it and tell us to return on Monday. Monday rolls around we go back with the car and they have a man positioned in an aggressive manner outside the door who tells us WE’RE going to have to pay to fix the window and rattles off a bunch of other ‘repairs’ the car needs totaling around $ 800. Ironically as they’re telling us this another customer who got their car repaired there pulled up with window issues also. Hmmm… We just said «Thanks.» and drove away. Not gonna give them an opportunity to mess something else up.

Chicken and Shakes was recommended to me as a place to get car stuff fixed on the cheap. They delivered!
Both times I went Mario helped me out. There is actually a guy named Chicken and a guy named Shakes thus the weird fried food restaurant sounding name.
Problem 1: Trunk won’t shut. Fix: Mario used some frame puller thing to pull my misaligned frame into good enough place that the trunk would shut (it had previously been rearended). He told me to just close the trunk lightly and it should work forever. Has so far! Time to fix: 15 minutes. Price: $ 20.
Problem 2: Oil light coming on. Fix: Mario checked to see if it was leaking or burning oil. He put the car up on the rack and noticed the leak was coming from the plug where the oil comes out during an oil change. He offered to fix it for $ 75 or less depending on what was wrong (he said it could just be the plug but might be a problem with oil pan itself) but recommended I go back to the oil change place because they should fix it for free. Time to fix: 1 hour Price: $ 10 (I almost felt bad about this!-almost).
The only warning that I give is this isn’t one of those drop the car off in 5 minutes and come back later places (at least not when I went there) but I like that because then I can actually see and trust what is wrong.
