Went here for the first time tonight, place is terrific. Vicky the owner is great. I love the tango music playing in the background. Food and drinks are delicious.

I’m torn. I had a great hot chocolate, but the older woman working there was rude and loudly(drunkenly?) flirted with the only other customer. I was trying to work and she was loud and rude. Place has potential if they fire this woman.

The Eleven Reasons You Should Come to Café Tango: 1. Friendliest proprietors you’ll ever meet(in Boston) 2. The walls are purple 3. The coffee is on the scale of pretty decent to really good 4. There is old-school tango music blasting non-stop, and you can hear the footfalls of the dancers in the studio above. 5. Free WiFi that even works sometimes 6. Open ’til midnight 7. That’s right, a Boston area coffee joint open ’til midnight 8. The décor matches the season(Since it’s Halloween right now, it is more likely than not that a fake spider will be crawling across your table) 9. Hipsters will think it’s almost TOO kitsch a place to ironically hang out in, so you won’t have to deal with that trash. 10. The line between«café» and the living room at your Mom’s condo is a blurry one(note the red lounger and flat screen TV, all you yups) 11. You can go upstairs for Tango lessons after you’re done with your coffee/study session/panini So in short, this is the type of place where you’ll walk that line of guilt between not telling other people about it because you want to keep it quiet and chill and all to yourself, and telling everybody because you’ve become personally invested in generating customers for this place so it never goes out of business. Yeah, how many times can you say that about a coffee shop in Slummerivlle? I even made a goddamn Unilocal account just to write this review.

The Argentinian coffee con leche is delicious and comes with a mini biscotti :) Couches are comfy, wifi is free, the owner and the rest of the staff is friendly. Besides the range of coffee/espresso drinks, they serve breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, fruit and granola, and lots of delicious looking pastries. Good place to catch up with a friend or study(if you aren’t distracted by tango music in the background)

«What can I get you?» «Not sure… what kind of empanadas do you have left?» «Meat.» “I’m sold.“ And this was the start of my love affair with Café Tango. What a wonderful addition to the community! I’ve been coming here to do work instead of too-cool-for-school Bloc11. The space is just so homey and inviting. I didn’t want to write a review because I’m a beezy and I want to keep this place to myself. MUAHAHAHAHAA! But, Vicky(the owner) is so warm and funny! She works both the counter and kitchen. I appreciate when owners are actively involved and connect with their customers. What keeps me coming back: — FREEINTERNET. For real. No time limit. — Plenty of tables to do work and comfy couches to lounge on.(I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve fallen asleep on one, and the staff didn’t treat me like a hobo and shoo me out.) — Friendly staff and crowd… There is a tango studio upstairs and students like to socialize at the café. — It’s an Argentinian establishment, and I eavesdrop on conversations to brush up on my Spanish. It’s like free language classes! Oh, the life of a poor grad student… — The food and desserts… There’s a great variety and it’s affordable!(My usuals: empanadas, croissants, tea, and caprese salad.)… and their flour-less chocolate cake SOGOOD. «Cons» because I have to nitpick: — There are plenty of electrical outlets around, but not at the«bar area,» so I can’t sit there. My laptop is old and I need to keep it plugged in. — I wish they were open 24⁄7. hahahaa Although, they are open very late(until midnight), which is perfect for night owls like myself. Well, looks like this place has inspired me to write reviews again and not just read. I’m back, Unilocal.I love this place. And I’m going to enjoy not fighting for a table for now… until everyone else finds out about this Union Square gem.

Great savory & sweet crepes. Much more reasonable than crêpe shops of Harv. or Davis Squares.

Great place! Good atmosphere, nice decorations, and the food is delicious! I had some Argentine empanadas, which were incredible. The place is very reasonably priced as well! The owner is Argentine, and the place is Argentine themed, with tango music in the background; they even have a tango studio upstairs!

Nutella Crepes. Paninis. North End baked goods(cheesecake, carrot cake, etc.). Churros. Expresso. Coffee. Snapples. They have you covered. The prices for food are the best you’re going to find at any coffee shop in Somerville. Vicky, the owner, mans the coffee bar herself. She’s actually(modestly) the president of the Boston Tango Society and owns the tango studio upstairs. Her nephew Adam helps out. She’s very proud of the homey feel the café offers. It’s definitely not as sterile as Bloc 11. Come check it out, bring your laptop and enjoy the free wifi. It’s a great place to do work and study, open until midnight every night of the week. Look ahead to hosting events. Want to plan a book club? Talk to Vicky! This is the perfect space for it.

I have been to the Café before for pastries, but today I came buy for lunch. I had a paninni wrap, Yum. It was made with grilled chicken, swiss, tomatoes, and red onion, with an Ice tea. The price was beyond reasonable, I can’t wait to go again and take the kids. I spent some time talking to the owner who is friendly, and inviting. I went with colleagues from work and she invited us to take a complimentary Tango class upstairs. What a jewel located in Union Square!!!

We already visited Café Tango a few times. The coffee is really from the highest gourmet category, bold without the bitterness of the other«gourmet» brands. My partner and I also enjoyed the crêpe(panqueque) with dulce de leche and a pastry. The interior décor is very pleasant, intimate and relaxing too.

I was familiar with the Argentine Tango upstairs, so I went and checked up the new café that they opened downstairs. First of all, I was impressed with the decoration. Such a beautiful taste, that gives you the customer experience of something special that we all yearn for. They offer all varieties of espresso drinks and … mmmm… the desserts… I have to go back soon for some crepes a la Argentina! They also serve meat empanadas, which are hard to find in the area. I’m definitely going back there soon!

Stumbled into Café Tango today and so glad that I found this little hidden gem. A quaint little shop across the street from Block 11 where the Brazilian bakery used to be. The shop is spacious with plenty of seating, and lots of food offerings to match. Tried the macaroon and the flour-less chocolate cake(AMAZING) that are shipped from north end and they pair nicely with a cup of coffee. They also have crepes, pastries, salads, and sandwiches; will be back to try the nutella crepes and salad for sure. And did I mention they are open till midnight?(what is with the coffee shops around here that close at 8pm?) The(super friendly) owner also runs the tango studio upstairs. If there’s one motivation to get my lazy backside into tango classes, this shop might just be it.

I’m a sucker for coffee shops and delicious snacks. Café Tango provides EXACTLY that in a brand new, quaint little shop just outside Union Square. Having just opened up, I walked in and stopped for a bite and some coffee. The walnut, raisin, and goat cheese salad was a fantastic mid day snack that really hit the spot, without even cracking $ 5!!! They also have crepes, pastries, lemoncello cake, cannolies, and so much more for those who have a sweet tooth to feed. This place is definitely worth a drop by. I’m looking forward to coming back soon.
