Let me start by saying that I have been to several Penn Station locations around the state as this is a chain restaurant. I’ve always enjoyed their food and it is probably one of my favorite places to get a sub. I love their Chicken Teriyaki and the Reuben. The Philly Cheesesteak and Italian are also good. Actually, I’ve enjoyed every sub that I’ve tried. With that being said, I was thrilled when we got a Penn Station in Somerset. I’ve eaten there often in the last few years. Unfortunately, the quality of the food at this particular location has steadily declined in the last year or so. My fiancé and I last ate here about 6 months ago and were so disappointed we hadn’t went back until last night. The last time we went I had a Chicken Teriyaki and it was so dry, I could barely eat it. The last quarter of the sandwich didn’t even have one piece of chicken on it. Having eaten at other locations and never having a bad experience, I was extremely disappointed. Last night we decided to give it another try. We both had cheesesteaks and they were really good with one exception. I asked for green pepper to be added to my sandwich and I assumed that they would be sauteed with the onions & mushrooms. However they added raw peppers and they were a little crunchy to say the least. I had to try to pick them off. Also the fries were a little overcooked. Because I love this place so much, I’m willing to give it one more try. If the quality of the food hasn’t improved, it will be my last visit to this location. I hope that’s not the case. On a positive note, the service was great and the restaurant was very clean.

This Penn Station is tucked away on the side of Highway 27 in Somerset KY, not far from Lake Cumberland Hospital. It shares a building with another business but seems to do rather well in this town. I have had several subs in this place, but the one that brings me back is the«Cordon Bleu». There sandwiches and subs are always very tasty and seem to have just the«right amount» of flavor. They also have very good french fries(with skin on) and also lemonade, cookies and other good items. When in the Somerset or Pulaski Co. area, stop in and give them a shot.
