This surgeon did a VATS procedure on my mom. His clinical judgement decided that the lymph nodes appeared cancerous and therefore decided not to take a biopsy of the core mass in her lung. He never came and did follow up at the bedside and when he received the pathology results, he did not tell the patient or patients family and dictated them to someone. The results never got transferred to the computer. When we called him to ask him about this and the results he was the rudest doctor I have ever met and I have been an ER and ICU nurse for 17+ years. He said ‘that’s not my problem’, he showed no empathy nor did he try to solve the problem yet he gave me a verbal diagnosis of a lymphoma over the phone. The hospital never received those final results. This surgeon is arrogant and also has poor clinical judgement. Now we have to go to Sloan Kettering to have additional testing and confirmation of a diagnosis. Not to mention, did the surgery on a Wednesday and it is now Saturday and we still have no conclusive results. His comment was ‘I did my job, this is no longer my case’.
I would never recommend this surgeon
Just want to add on that after he told us our mom is suspicious for Stage 3 lung Cancer and then told us that it is lymphoma. the slides were not conclusive and were sent to Sloane Kettering and John Hopkins who both agreed he should have biopsied the mass if there is one. Now they are even saying, that there it is not conclusive if there is mass at all.
