This is one of my favorite places to come to when in Solvang. We specifically come for the wonderful apples this place has! My review is strictly on the customer service this place has. My fiancé and I walked in eager to try their apples, and then a young girl asked if we needed help(she was with another young guy behind the counter). We told her we would like ONE apple cut into pieces if possible(since we were heading out to have dinner soon). She said ok! And proceeded to grab two apples. Again, I repeated myself and said that we just wanted ONE apple. She said ok! And proceeded to cut my ONE apple and handed the other one to the guy. He quickly began to wrap it up. Still confused I thought maybe were getting a free apple? Then she rings us up. And it’s $ 14 –_– I didn’t want to argue or say anything so we paid. Then. since I was stuck with two, I asked if she could please cut the other apple as well. She told me I didn’t need my other apple cut because I needed to walk around and try other things. Hmmm okay, lol thank you mom! We took a few steps out of the store and I thought maybe I wasn’t loud enough or clear enough. So I asked my fiancé and he tells me I was perfectly clear. Obviously something is wrong with their customer service that should be fixed. I see I’m not the only one on Unilocal that has complained about this service.

Its Halloween. I could think of nothing better then to go to Rocky Mountain and pick up some of the best candy in town. Well sadly they were closed at 6pm even though the sign said they were open till 7.

Really great peanut butter buckets! The whole family enjoyed, could not finish or even get to the center, it took about 5 bites to get to the peanut butter. Froze it and saved it for an after dinner treat!

This is my favorite ice cream and chocolate store at solvang. Don’t forget to try pistachio, cookies & cream and blue berry ice cream. Also the frozen cheesecake and the truffles

How can anyone give a chocolate that tastes this good anything less than 5 stars!!! I mean, they may be just a TAD bit pricey and their fudge sucks. But I have serious chocolate strawberry withdrawals!(Damn you Santa Barbara and your no Rocky Mountain Swiss having malls!) so I binge eat them when I visit Solvang. It’s not just the chocolate, but they have the biggest juiciest strawberries no matter the season! I don’t know how they do it. That may explain the higher price. I also recommend the candy apples. They are huge and can be shared! Yum! Plus the cashiers are friendly!

Each piece of chocolate was about $ 2.50 a piece and not worth it. My truffle was grainy and not a smooth filling. The cashier was friendly!

The hubby and I were fortunate to have the chance to walk around and enjoy the sights and sounds of this quaint little Danish town of Solvang this past weekend. On our way back to our hotel to call it a night we stopped by the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory since I saw right away from their window they had a wide array of candied apples. It was close to closing time and I didn’t want to hold up the girl at the counter so I ended up getting a cheesecake and caramel covered apple to enjoy back at our room. They have a ton of chocolate goodies to choose from but unfortunately I didn’t get to really take my time and browse their other selections. The candied apple had a little too much graham cracker than I liked but you can really taste the cheesecake and caramel part. The apple was perfectly crisp and tart so all the flavors balanced out well. Would definitely come back again if we’re ever in town.

Of course the chocolate is good. Way overpriced but good. Whoever does the hiring in this particular store does a horrible job. There’s been one girl in the past two years that had a personality. EVERY other person is rude/zero personality. Probably only stays afloat because this is a tourist town so even if word gets out the tourists don’t know until they’ve already made a purchase.

Like any other chocolate store I have been to. The chocolate was fresh and delicious. The staff was helpful too in recommending places to go in town.

While a little pricey, the variety is excellent and the quality is great. I blew my diet on one chocolate covered s’more, but it was soooo worth it!

Your typical Rocky Mountain Chocolate with a great selection of apples and other treats. The down side to this location is the service and they are probably missing out on customers because of it. When we walked in the door we were not greeted or did the woman look up from what she was doing for a few minutes and when she did she wasn’t overly friendly.

YES! Finally a place with red candy apples that are not ridiculously overpriced! I purchased a cherry candy apple and cinnamon candy apple. They were about $ 4 each. I inhaled the cherry candy apple and thought it was perfect. I waited till the next day to enjoy the cinnamon and unfortunately it wasn’t as tasty as the cherry so I wouldn’t order it again. The person who rang me up got the job done but wasn’t particularly friendly. She asked if I wanted my apples to be sliced but didn’t offer a smile or say thank you once our purchase was complete. Based on service I would probably ding this review but since I’m pleased with one of my purchases I’ll stick to my 4 star opinion.

Wandered into this little chocolatier just to try a nibble or two(it’s quite expensive) but wasn’t disappointed. Tried an dark chocolate almond cluster and a raspberry stick, the total for both pieces was a little over $ 6. The dark chocolate coatings were very smooth and rich without being overpowering or bitter. It had a nice snap to it and melted easily. The nuts were ok(See’s actually has a better quality of nuts) and the raspberry filling was flavorful without being too sweet. The people behind the counter were friendly, offering a hearty«hello» at the door. There are usually two people on duty, one behind the counter(sales) and the other stirring pots of caramel or something similar. The chocolate confections are not actually made onsite, but in Colorado, hence the name. The quality is good, but far too expensive for anything more than a piece or two.

I have been going here and the old Santa Barbara shop on State Street for over 25 years. I have always loved their fudge and drive a ways to pick some up. My wife and I stopped at this Solvang location today, and i was excited to be able to stop and pick up my fudge. However the excitement was short lived. The girl working today was clearly not happy about being there. Her customer service skills were lacking in every way possible to say the least. When we first arrived she had a friend there who also had her dog in the shop. I love animals, but the dog had no place inside the shop. When we came in the friend and dog went outside. The girl working asked how she could help. I knew right off I wanted my fudge, but then my wife and I started looking at the other chocolates and decided to get a few. Every time I would tell the girl which ones I wanted, it was like she was rushing us to pick what we wanted and to leave. Considering the amount of stuff we were buying, I would have hoped for better customer service. hell even if I had purchased one piece of candy, I should have still been treated with respect. we were polite and thanked her for her assistance. I even left her an tip, thinking perhaps she was just having a bad day. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but regardless of her situation, if she is going to continue to work in the customer service field, she is going to need to learn that she needs to put on a mask and pretend everything is good when she is assisting a customer. Honestly if she worked for me, I would have addressed the issues, provided ways for her to improve her customer skills, and given her a second chance. if I received another complaint, then I would have let her go. It really made us feel like we wasted our time going there. I am hoping that when I have some of my fudge it will help reduce my level of disappointment with the level of customer service. I can’t say I would return to that location again.

CANDYAPPLES!!! Your typical Rocky Mountain chocolate store — they’ve got the mouth watering displays of chocolate dipped apples and some crazy ones with different kinds of marshmallows and nuts grafted onto them. This location sells pretty much the same things as any other Rocky Mountain, prices seemed a little high because of the touristy location.

This place is worth visiting again for me… and to be honest, the only reason is because of the great variety of ‘candy apples’ they have that are made and dipped right in front of you… more of which I want to try. I tasted the truffles and found them pretty standard. nothing extraordinary. There’s another place on the E side of Solvang that also does Fudge and Candied Apples, but they only do Caramel and with or without Peanuts(yawn!). This place has a lot of different ‘dippings’… all sorts of nuts, marshmallows, dark chocolate/white chocolate/milk chocolate, toffee, peanut butter, oreas. insane! There’s no way I could eat one of those crazy ones alone without splitting it… they’re huge(after all the layers of toppings) and they would be undoubtedly high in calories(like more than usual for a dessert!) and would require jogging extra miles. Anyway, staff was good, considering the gobs of travelers wandering in this place. Prices were standard for chocolates.

OHMYCHOCOLATEGOD!!! I loved so many things in this little chocolate shop, that if i wrote them all out here, my review would be a mile long. So maybe If i just wrote what I didnt like, this would save alot of time… But wait. there isnt a single bad thing about this cute little chocolate shop. Oh well, Prices are fair, but then again, who puts a price on chocolate!

I gave it the old college try, but maybe it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I got the sugar-free treats and they had that funky tang to em’ that makes it glaringly obvious that they used a knock-off sugar. And the sugar-free ones were overly rich. I never thought I’d say something like that.(Chocolate that’s TOO rich? How could that ever be possible? lol) But it was and it gave me an awful stomach ache. I’ll give em’ an A for effort but when it comes to sugar-free, See’s or Godiva has em’ beat by a mile.

Don’t take a girl with dairy issues and a guy with sugar ones to a place that primarily serves fudge unless you want to hear either of them groan about what they wish they could eat but cannot. At least I found they also sold pretzels and salt water taffy. The amount of bees roaming throughout the inside and outside of this store was highly disturbing. We quickly left.

I don’t know if it is because of nearby competition, but the chocolate of the Macadamia Clusters here were very good. The chocolate was rich, but didn’t taste like the cheaper quality that I think they use at more inner city locations. (Or heck, maybe it was the heat, I was hungry, and the aromas of all the chocolate made it taste better!)
