Everyone from support staff to the Docs themselves are top notch here. Appointments at convenient times have always been easy to get. Wait times to be seen are minimal, sometimes none at all. The vision testing is easy and stress free. They have an excellent selection of currently trending eye wear with staff members who happily help you choose the most flattering frames. A real class act and an asset to the valley.

It’s not surprising Dr. Bales optometry has such good reviews. I was visiting Solvang from out of town when I realized I left my daily contacts at home, and forgot to pack my glasses! Everything was completely blurry and if you rely on your contacts to see, like me, you can understand my frustration. I looked up the nearest optometrist to where I was staying and came across Dr. Bales. I called over and the lady I spoke to (I didn’t catch her name) was so nice and professional and really helped me out!!! Literally saved my trip! Thanks again!

Dr. Bales has been my eye doctor for decades and he is the best and his staff is very competent, friendly and helpful. He diagnosed an eye problem and got me to a retina specialist. for evaluation. I will never to go any other eye doctor. I trust Dr. Bales completely!

His great knowledge, coupled with his concern for his patient makes for a great experience when visiting him for an exam. He has always provided good advice in caring for my vision. His staff is knowledgeable, friendly and experienced. I highly recommend this office.

I love this office. They are always willing to help. On the few occasions where I have run out of contacts and ordered them at the last minute they have given me sample pairs when they have them in stock.
They are very proactive about my eye care with our being pushy.

I have been a patient for 25 years since choosing Dr. Bales when I moved from Orange County. His credentials are excellent and he keeps current with eye health issues as well as products for improving sight. Dr. Bales has gone above and beyond in urgent or unusual situations for me and my family. His staff is experienced, friendly and helpful. They behave as though they care and are sincere, an unusual quality throughout his cohesive team. I have never been placed on hold, and talk to a real person every time. My concerns about my eyesight are thoroughly addressed. The office is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Parking is easy. Their system for appointment reminders is up to date, and works great for my busy life. His staff doesn’t change, so I can rely on a personal greeting and understanding of my scheduling needs, insurance, payments, etc. I always find frames I love and contact solutions that honestly work. Their prices on frames are very competitive with the service I need to get everything right. Dr. Bales also has an excellent optician on sight every day! My experience at Dr. Bales is outstanding.

Dr. Bales is intelligent, experienced, thorough, patient, and kind. His staff is wonderful. He takes a lot of time finding just the right prescriptions for me, and he looks out for the health of my eyes with state of the art equipment and lots of useful tips and information. I’m spoiled!

I have been a patient for 5 years. Yesterday I made an appointment for today and my employer authorized for me leave an hour early to do so. I was just informed I couldn’t leave early after all and called the office immediately. I was told I would be charged $ 35 for not giving 24 hour notice as it’s their policy. I let them know MY policy is not to pay for services I haven’t received! They have now lost me and my son as patients. Hope it was worth the $ 35 and the poor review. They have made it impossible for me to give them my business even if they decide not to bill me. That’s not how you want to treat a long term patient whom has never cancelled before. I can’t give someone like that my business. Furthermore, my boss is a patient there and was so mad he said he would deal with them directly… looks like they might lose a 3^rd patient… I worked in doctor offices for 20 years, so I understand why they do that, however, we would never bill a long term patient for something out of their control. … you have to use discretion as a professional! This was NOT professional!
