Fresh sushi! Large portions without degrading the quality! I love it here!

Sushi is so plentiful in San Diego, there is no reason to go here. The wait staff is rude, the service is painfully slow. The rolls are overpriced, have crazy names and lots of sauce, completely inauthentic Japanese food.

Ok. I will let the secret to any sushi bars success out… Are you ready… Wait for it… It’s BIGMIKE the Sushi master. When Mike makes sushi it’s magic. His flavor and texture combinations are superior. He has been making sushi for decades and he is truly a master. 10,000 hours to mastery and Mike has made it. Let him know what flavor and texture you like and enjoy the ride.

Well it was depressing. And my belly hurts. I don’t know what’s wrong about that place… Or better yet I don’t know what’s right about it. Ever going back? Nope

Best sushi in San Diego. Make sure you sit at the bar and ask for James. Have him custom order what you would like and you will have one of the best sushi experiences in your life. Am i setting the bar high? yes. should you come high? if thats your thing. The staff here is awesome and they really make a point to make sure your experience is awesome. The Manager Tony is always ready to help make sure your night goes well. 6STARS!

I have been a customer for a long time, having lived just down the street. It was a regular hangout and is a nice meeting place when you Came for happy hour on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. The service was quick at first. Ordered a hot sake and the fried squid legs(I know, pretty literal but that is what the menu said). Food and drink came out pretty quick, started munching and kicked back. 15 minutes passed(it is now 5:45 pm) and the waitress comes back over to see if I want to order anything more, which I do. Place an order for the chefs hand roll selection, 3 for $ 10, a pretty sweet deal if I must say so. Ask the waitress to only use real fish, as I can’t stand the fake«krab» that some sushi places use. I wait another 15 minutes and the hand rolls come out, just as I am finishing up the sake. The gent who delivers them places it down and I go to ask him for another refill of the sake, be he has already dashed off so quickly that he couldn’t hear me. Oh well, I figure he will be back in another 5 minutes and can get a refill then and probably some more food. I start eating one of the rolls, and realize the middle one is the fake«krab» stuff. Not exactly what I had hoped for, but who am I to complain about discount happy hour food? Would have been nice if the message was passed on, but apparently not. 6:15 pm comes and goes… no sign of either waitperson. I keep waiting, attempting to flag them down the 2 times in 30 minutes they came outside. 6:45 arrives and I am well done with my food, drink and am now sitting, waiting and gazing at the door where the waitstaff should be coming and going. I continue to wait till 7:10 when I get up to go inside to use the restroom, and at that point only does the waitress ask me if there is anything else. I say no, just the check. It takes yet another 5 minutes to even get that to me after I come back to the table and sit down. Sorry Station Sushi, your business is slipping in customer service. I watched 13 other people /groups come and go before I was through, asked multiple times each if they wanted more food, drink or otherwise. Whether it was negligence or simple forgetfulness, it was quite out of bounds for acceptable service. Hope you can bring the attention to detail up about 10 notches and just simply take the fake«krab» garbage off your menu… you are better than that. Use real food, or nothing at all, it will make a huge improvement to your entire menu. I like this spot and hope there is an upswing in management’s attention to these issues.

The service isn’t the greatest. Super slow. You kind of have to stand there awkwardly in the way until they might acknowledge you. They dont take your order for a while and the sushi takes as long as it might take me to fish and de scale a live salmon to finally arrive at your table — I think they’re pretty understaffed. but oh man… The food is too good. Like unbelievably tasty, good. The rolls are MASSIVE! If you get the Protein Roll I swear you will be craving it for months after. Delish!

Won’t be back. I rarely give 1 star, but this place didn’t show any reason to give it anything else. Ordered shrimp tempura roll and it was refrigerator cold. The«tempura» shrimp must have been fried that morning as it was soggy and cold. We flagged down what seemed to be the manager and he just stood there when we asked him about the roll being cold. There was such a long pause without a response from him that we asked, «is that ok?» We had to ask for a new roll! AWFULEXPERIENCE. WILLNOTRETURN. NOTTHEPLACEFORANYTYPEOFSUSHIORSERVICE.

A few things you NEED to know about this place… order the Protein Roll… and brown rice is a substitute option on anything. Let’s be honest… brown rice does not usually make an appearance at sushi restaurants — despite being the latest craze. Everyone just getting out of yoga class while eating their kale salad and green smoothie wants to get in on that brown rice madness… and here it is! Yes it’s good if you don’t mind the food falling apart a little more than the white sticky rice. Health is a battlefield… or was it love? BUTTHEPROTEINROLL… sweet sweet sushi Lord yes please! This art from the ocean is chock FULL of all sorts of fish… crab(make sure to order the real crab for a little more $)…soy paper… and no rice!!! One of these rolls will easily take care of your sophisticated sushi craving you classy son of gun… and there’s no rice! Shows the amount of quality fish and crab you get. This roll manhandles all other sushi rolls… it’s the law of the land and if you don’t order it… the sushi train left the station and you’re not on it. Parking in the lot behind the restaurant is free and easy, great people watching on Coast Hwy… and in the heart of quaint Solana Beach. I’ve seen Steve Kerr(Golden State Warriors basketball coach) eating here before… so clearly a championship winning coach knows championship winning sushi.

Station Sushi is pretty great! Best time to come is definitely happy hour. Good choices for much less $$ than normal. Great deals. The service is good, I would suggest sitting at the sushi bar. Bring cash, too because it’s 10% off your bill when you do! Lunch is a good choice also, they have some yummy options. All in all, it’s a nice place for a quick healthy meal. Some of the rolls are a little pricey but happy hour is a steal! Protein roll is best choice! Ps I love James! The best!

Station sushi — as its name implies is by the Solana Beach train station. Sitting at the patio with seats facing the station watching people is what I enjoyed. Other than that, there was not much that I cannot think of much else which will make me want to go back here again. The sushi was ok — way too much rice. The happy hour deals are good. Lot of food, for very little money. The service seems to be a bit spotty. Sometimes attentive, sometimes a bit frazzled. The best description for me is «I’ve experienced better».

This place used to be good. Chefs are friendly enough but the poor excuse for waitstaff they have at this place has officially crossed it off my list of regular spots. Sushi is good. Good enough to make up for the«service» I received tonight? Not even close. Walked in at 5:30 on Friday. Almost empty. We were not greeted. We were not seated. We found a table outside and sat down. Young girl server had zero facial expression or sense of politeness, actually almost ran into me in a doorway. Were you not trained to allow your guests through a walkway before you? Halfway through our dinner, a man appearing to be a manager of some sort?(God I hope not) took over. Rude girl must’ve forgotten about us. We had to ASK for a refill of our waters, which were empty. GETTHIS — Mr Manager refills our cups — with another cup. Halfway full of plain water, no ice. What on earth makes that okay? To fill a guests cup HALFWAY full, not from a pitcher but from a random ass cup you picked up?! Never. Ever. Coming back. I work down the street and used to regular this place and I’ll be letting my coworkers know our favorite sushi spot has gone downhill. Way down.

I often come here with my family when we’re in Solana Beach. I like how positive the atmosphere is when we walk in; everyone is always smiling. Our server, Ashley, was really sweet and friendly. We get the garlic edamame and protein roll EVERY time and get some other random rolls. This time we decided to try the Ahi Lump Crab Stack from Ashley’s recommendation, the Slippery When Wet, and Drop It Low. The garlic edamame is a great starter(for those of you who are sick of plain edamame and want to try something new). The protein roll is my favorite roll because it has different types of fish, no rice, and an AMAZING sauce. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Stack, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fish, crab, and seaweed on a cracker has never been so good. Slippery When Wet is your classic eel roll and Drop It Low has fish, jalapeño, and cilantro. Aside from these dishes, Station Sushi has many more delicious options. On a less positive note, this place can get pretty busy so it can get loud/crowded. The wait can seem kind of long(especially if you’re really hungry), but I think it’s worth it. When you’re sitting outside, some of the tables might see slanted or uneven. My mom’s not a big fan of the décor; she thinks they can upgrade and look nicer. Overall, I’ll continue to come back. Good area, good people, good food.

Great place. Station sushi is definitely a fun place to stop in with a group of friends, before a belly up show or even a date. The specials are always delicious and unique! However there are no prices listed and you usually aren’t too stoked when you get the bill. I have ordered many different roles and sashimi and you pretty much can’t go wrong with any of it. The ambiance is upbeat and fun. They are usually pretty busy so be prepared to wait if you visit on the weekend. The reason for the 3 stars is: 1) overpriced 2) not the friendliest of staff and no local vibe.

I’ve been going since this place opened and still always one of my favorites. Stopped in for lunch and ordered ahead this time. They are located on a major highway and right across the street from the Solana Beach train station(hence the name). If you are just arriving or waiting for a train, I highly recommend you come over and treat yourself. If you are heading north, pick up something to enjoy on your train ride. There is generally parking on the street in front or nearby. It’s an old house that was converted into a restaurant. I don’t know about reservations but if you are on your way, you can call ahead to get your name on the list for a table. Indoor seating is quite comfortable and sitting at the sushi bar is a treat. They have ample seating outdoors and it’s covered when it’s a cool outside(I know, a rarity in SoCal). The outdoor patio is right on the sidewalk so you can do some people watching as you enjoy your meal. They have an amazing variety of sushi and rolls most of which I have tried most and they are incredible. Today I just went with a simple spicy tuna roll and philly roll with a side seaweed salad. The sushi at Station Sushi has always been fresh and plentiful and today was no exception. The pieces are larger than most sushi restaurants and love their really sticky rice. However, the seaweed salad is just average which is surprising given how great the sushi is. If you really like sushi, you need to try this place! It is absolutely one of the best in San Diego County and worth the drive no matter where you live. And again, if coming in by train, treat yourself and stop by. It’s just across the street. If you are catching the train, there’s no better snack to take along on your ride up the coast. Note to the Owner: I would have given 5 stars, but your to-go containers are made from Styrofoam. These types of containers are not recyclable here in San Diego County. There are countless other types of recyclable containers that you could be using. I’ve actually researched this and to switch to a recyclable container would only cost you an extra 10 – 15 cents per container. As a loyal customer, I would be more than happy to pay an extra 15 cents for a to-go container and would hardly notice the price increase. There are some companies in San Diego that make these containers and perhaps if you were a regular customer, you might even be able to negotiate a cheaper price because the prices I’m getting are just straight off the internet. There is a plastic bag ban and don’t kid yourself, it won’t be long before they ban Styrofoam for single use in to-go containers. New York City put their ban into effect earlier this year and it won’t be long before California does the same. Again, it’s just better for the environment and really wouldn’t cost you anything to switch over.

Another typical Korean-owned sushi restaurant with mediocre food. I ordered the spicy yellowtail roll and the eel avocado roll. Neither were very impressive. What’s worse is that they failed the most basic aspect of sushi rolls — rolling it tightly enough so it doesn’t crumble when you pick up a piece. Nice location with good people watching but so much better sushi to be eaten around town to make this a regular stop for me.
