Before moving to Rochester I decided I was going to buy a new car. It’s always a hassle dealing with car salesmen so I decided I was going to get pre-approved and get my vehicle appraised so I could give the dealers all of the information needed to price the 2015 Jeep Cherokee I wanted. I spent two weeks sending all of my information to this dealership so that I knew the price I’d be getting. They had my pre approval amount, credit rating and the value of my trade in. What more could you need. In any case I was quoted a price that I was satisfied with after shopping around with two other dealerships in the area. I got to the dealership and to my surprise the price had changed and the amount was not even close to what was projected. The dealership was an hour away from where I’d moved to and it was snowing. The drive there was pretty scary in my California car without snow tires so I felt trapped once I got to the dealership after planning on driving away in my new Jeep. I ended up having to put so much money down in spite of my great credit score to get the Jeep I’d wanted and with a higher monthly payment because I did not want to drive around in the snow in my car for several more weeks while I looked for and found another dealer who might have a more honest approach. I love my Jeep but did not plan on spending so much money. I cannot in good faith give this place more than one star when I provided them with all of the tools needed to provide me with an honest number that turned into a bait and switch. I can’t even call it an estimate that I was given since I tend to think of an estimate as an approximation but the numbers were much higher. The dealer claimed that he got the information I provided him with mixed up but it was all very straight forward. If I was a local I might have just ditched the offer and shopped around for a better dealership or I might have already been familiar enough with the area to know where to go. I’ll chop it up as a learning experience but want others to know the experience I had. No bueno.
