The worst, nachos took 45 minutes and everyone at other tables that ordered after got food before. Won’t ever go back.

A party of 7 comes in around 1:45pm and is welcomed to a nearly empty restaurant, a couple of patrons at the bar and approx 2 small tables on their way out. They have 2 waiters(from what I can see). It took about 10 mins to get us seated, another 10 minutes for waters to come out, another 10 minutes to order food and probably 20 minutes for food to come out. A lady took our order and I have a feeling she might have been the manager or maybe even owner, but she was quite condescending in her tone towards us, and didn’t seem to enjoy her job there. I don’t think she has any excuse because the restaurant was nearly empty when we were there. It did pick up quite a bit as we were halfway thru our meal. She wrote down our order but still managed to get several items wrong. When my chicken quesadilla came out without the chicken, she made it seem like I had just decided to add the chicken at that moment, when actually, I had ordered a CHICKENQUESADILLA.(I expect the chicken). Water refills didn’t come around until we asked. Our table wasn’t fully stocked with utensils/napkins. The food actually was decent! We had the bbq chicken pizza, chicken quesadilla, Alfredo penne pasta with chicken and broccoli, and western burger. My fave item was probably the western burger(they are voted best burgers in Tahoe), followed by the bbq chicken pizza. Would I come back? Probably not. I don’t have that much time to spend for«decent» food and bad attitude servers.

My friends and I stopped here by a bite after snow shoe hiking around 3pm. Although it wasn’t very crowded, it took a long time before someone took our order & brought drinks. Props for bringing out our order at the same time, allowing separate tabs and applying the 30% Unilocal check on offer to everyone. Everyone was famished and from the quiet that fell over the table, it was apparent we were all too busy eating and enjoying the food to talk. My clam chowder came out at the same time as my entrée so I asked for a to go container, which was a square styrofoam box lol. Overall, I’d eat here again after a hike and on my way back to Sac. Our party ordered the following Steak sandwich(I love it when the cook gets the temperature right!) California burger Philly cheesesteak Fish and chips(nothing to write home about) Patty melt Clam chowder(just ok) Beer fries were better than regular fries

Nice atmosphere: fireplace, view of falling snow and trains, but food and service leave a lot to be desired. I wanted to see if their French Dip was the real thing, so I asked if they put it on real French bread and the waitress assured me they get real French bread from a special bakery. When it comes it is on a fancy hot dog bun that is not even toasted — as soggy as can be. The meat was pretty good and so was the jus, but that bread really ruined it. The waitress came by to ask how everything was and I said, «well, it is ok,» and just as I was saying the words«but this is not French bread,» the waitress turned her back and walked away. My sons ravioli entrée was a portion so small it was more of an appetizer and he was still very hungry. We told this to the waitress and she just said that is the normal portion and would we like to order another? I understand small portions are popular in some places, but our friend who ordered penne had a huge portion(which was less expensive). This waitress never even offered to talk to the kitchen or manager about it. The non-French bread and skimpy food ended up just being our problem. I would never go back to this place, which is too bad because it is the only place for miles around. I guess they are aware of that…

The place was really up organized and didn’t have a anyone in charge. We came with a party of 9 after a long day at Boreal. Most of the table ordered burgers which came out quick and were enjoyable. I made the mistake of ordering pizza and had to wait and wait and wait. When finally it never came. After making a fuss we did get it and it was not much more than an pop in the oven pizza.

Full bar, decent food and a cozy reprieve from the cold. Housemade soup and a hot toddy did the trick. I like to sit at the bar and watch football next to my sweetheart.

Worst service ever. Waited about an hour to get served and to find out that they were out of what we had ordered. Bathroom was so awful no doors in the stalls they actually had some ugly curtains with no privacy.

Disorganized, lack of customer service, me thinks not. Zero personality on the bartender and waitress. Had two different servers(one being he bartender), and the two obviously did not communicate nor get along well(probably shouldn’t argue and try to start at separate ends of the table). Great location, good atmosphere, lousy service. They’ll do fine with their location and they don’t need good service when they require 18% tips. Edit: this review was being posted real-time. Order came out wrong(we ordered hot wings and teriyaki wings, two plates of hot wings came out). Arrived at 2:15, nachos, wings, fries, and onion rings showed up at 3:53. Waitress did not check on us once in an hour+ wait. Bathrooms were filthy and disgusting. If you can find somewhere else, go for it. If you are waiting out a traffic jam, this will kill a couple hours. Food was OK.

Full Bar and great food. Prime Rib Friday is a little pricey for small portion, but you have to remember where you are. Always feel welcomed here.

Great place for decent summit food and meeting with friends. I would suggest you go there on a Friday night when they typically have a special. The waitstaff, bartenders, and cooks are all welcoming.

Went for lunch, had been a few years since we were there, it was great! My husband had The chili with a ton of toppings and the salmon sandwich which was cooked perfect and loaded with fresh spinach. We usually share and taste each others dishes, I had the French dip and the Au Jus was REAL even had either chives or green onion tops in it, the fries sealed the deal just like my grandma used to make. Got to see the train go by thru the pine trees and listen to some good music. I must admit I still miss the shuffleboard table but all in all we’ll be going more often and definitely recommending it.

Initially, we were going to place two orders to go, but then we changed our minds and decided to dine in. We placed one order that was supposed to be to go. Nicole, the waitress, was rude from the start when we decided to eat at the restarant. Everyone came in to be seated. We were a party of six with a baby and a five year old. When we were seated and ready to order, someone ordered pancakes, Nicole replied«I already told some of you that we were out of pancakes.» Everyone was not present when she mentioned that there were not any pancakes. We placed the orders. Then, Nicole told her friends about the exchange. The friends left the restaurant shouting«Nikki is the best waitress in the world.» Once outside, they came back into the restaurant and started harassing us at our table about a pet in the car. We had only been in the restaurant for 15 minutes and it was 56 degrees. They started getting confrontational in the restaurant. Needless to say… we left immediately after paying the bill for the initial order. Would not recommend stopping here at all. Management should also give Nicole a few lessons in customer service and reprimand her for the friends.

Meh. Food was overpriced and just ok. Ordered a $ 13 calamari appetizer and there were maybe 9 small pieces and a bunch of fries. Asked for the burger to be medium rare and it was well done. Server was friendly but was flying solo so the service was pretty slow too.

The worst dining experience ever. I want to love this place so much, but three strikes… I ordered a plate of seasonal vegetables off of the children’s menu and for six dollars got a bowl of frozen broccoli. I ordered the chicken teriyaki; think salt and boxed rice. Our dining companions’ dinner came out after ours and her burger ended up costing $ 17. While eating the burger, she needed napkins and the staff couldn’t handle it. She got three cocktail napkins, and when she asked for a bigger napkin another employee brought out an industrial package of napkins, opened them at the table and handed her a stack. The food is terrible, and the service is crazy-bad. The server brought the correct check, but charged another ticket to our credit card. So bummed. How hard can it be to serve okay food in a reasonable amount of time?

You will get sick at this place my sister, my uncle and I got super sick from this«restaurant«please do your self a favor and do not stop at this place! usually I try to be nicer to family owed businesses but this place honestly sucks. To begin with the toilets are only separated by a curtain so there is absolutely no privacy. The service is horrible we waited 40 minutes for an ice tea and it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food to come out. Once the food actually came out it was cold and flavorless and best of all my moms food never came out and my son never saw his pancakes they actually forgot their food. Honestly you would be better off eating sushi from the gas station than eating a cracker at this place.

I wish there was a way you can give 0 stars. My family and I was in there today because we noticed it on our way to soda springs resort. So we checked it out, and quite frankly, it was a big mistake. After placing our orders, it took at least ½ hour for the food to arrive, and when we did get it, the food was cold. The manager argued with us and we eventual walked out after telling her to get a new order. It is the first and definitely the last time we will ever come to the restaurant. We would eventually head to Jax at the trax.

If I could give this place a zero I would. On my way up to Reno Nevada to visit family we stop here to use the restroom. With a cranky one year old and over excite four year old we were in need of a pit stop. However this place wasn’t very welcoming. Right off the bat there was a sign that said we could use the restroom without ordering. Both my husband and I looked at each other in questioning. We gave in to buy something, everyone needed to use the restroom. I took my baby girl to get her changed, but there where no changing table, no stall walls just drapes over two toilets seats and a sink. I had to do it in our car. The men’s bathroom were not any better. My husband said the mens room was not any better. He said there was a glory hole and was more then happy to get himself and our son out of there ASAP. The worst part was the service. Our waitress was not really invested in her job much less help us take our order. But we order a coffee and some sweet potato fries. Cost us almost 12 bucks but we got our food and left. The only thing good about that horrible place was the food. The sweet potatoes were really good.

try their sensation burger! i came here for lunch and it was indeed a sensation for me. maybe because i was tired after a long drive. the location was interesting. minutes away from skiing and hiking in Calif. right next to a gasoline station. looked like a boring bar from outside, but when i came in, the place was warm and cozy. there were 2 large families with small kids but the place didn’t look too crowded at all. if you drive across Calif, this is a great place to take a break. fill up your gasoline and have a healthy lunch. McDonald’s is simply bad for a long trip. p/s: i make a stop here again if i can, just because i think the menu design is lovely.

First bite good. Second bite, hmm. Third bite«oh, that’s the problem». The kids noticed first: everything was far too salty. None of the four of us quite finished our meal due to sodium overload. Service was b.a.d. Quite a bit after we order the waitperson comes back«we’re out of that». All the substitutes we try are out also. Eventually we compromise on something, but the wrong thing altogether comes out of the kitchen. Waitperson really could care less. We wanted to like this place: it’s fresh local seasonal, etc.

In our drive back from Tahoe the honeys stomach began to rumble. «I want food!» It yelled and so we stopped. Enter Summit and their fantastic White bean and bacon soup. Summit was mostly deserted when we entered, in fact I’m pretty sure our waitress was taking a nap when we came in but we were seated and our orders taken pretty quickly. It was just the food that took forever in getting to us. The service, while slow was quite friendly and upbeat and our white bean and bacon soup was to die for. OMG yum! The honey’s pesto chicken bacon was tasty but my french dip was bland and the au jus didn’t help the matter much. The woman’s bathroom was a bit of a surprise because they only had curtains for walls but with the friendly service and the tasty soup we loved our experience at Summit. We just may have to plan for a return trip next year!
