This was my first Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival and I was excited to see what they had. First of all, there is no organized parking situation. You can find a random spot in a residential area, or pay a local vendor $ 5.00 to park for the day. Then, you have to walk to the Shrimp Festival, which is in AUGUST(today was 91 degrees). Park car + push stroller for a 10 minute, blazing hot walk to festival + North Carolina humidity = Hot As Balls. It cost $ 5.00 to enter(kids 12 and under are free). I was expecting there to be TONS of shrimp items to choose from since this is a shrimp festival after all, but that was disappointing too. There was a ton of carnival food(funnel cake, corn dogs, etc.), but only 3 or 4 vendors that actually sold some kind of shrimp. This is a shrimp festival, not a carnival! In addition to tons of non-shrimp, carnival food there were lots of booths with people selling stuff, a stage with music and I also saw some kid’s rides. What would make this Shrimp Festival better? 1) Not be in the hottest month of the year. 2) Have more shrimp offerings. 3) Have a better parking situation.
