Usually this place is good but I’m pissed because they gave me crumbs for tater tots…

The food was wonderful! I had the buffalo chicken wrap and my mother in law had a burger, both were great. Unfortunately, the service was by far the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. I’ve been in the service industry for years, as a server, bartender and manager and this was disappointing. Here’s hoping she was just having an off day. We’ll be back, maybe not in her section

Solid 3⁄5. The food was okay, as was the service. Our server was nice. I had the Buffalo Wrap. My husband had the BBQ burger, which he enjoyed. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but the service & food were both a little slow. We will probably come back, but it won’t be our go-to spot. Not bad, but not great either.

By jov they’ve done it! Our service today was amazing! Eddie was hilarious and gave us great info on beers and REALLY knew the menu! He made us want to try everything! He actually got us to get a cup of their chili, which while it was great definitely needed some spice.(But I like everything hot and spicy) Our table ordered two Widow Burgers, Lemon Pepper wings, Hot wings and Fries. Everything was hot when it came out. Their wings are huge, crispy, and just the right amount of flavor. Our burgers were made perfectly, the fried egg they put on it didn’t run out when you bit into it(I like it that way so it was perfect. Other’s I know like it runny) The fries were crispy and cooked all the way, but did need a little salt. Their homemade ranch for dipping was amazing! Great visit for lunch! Haha even so, we’re going back tonight for Trivia! Oh, and ask for Eddie! He’s great!

We come here very Tuesday night for trivia and ½ off boneless wings. The wings are delicious, and they have a variety of flavors. There are some days, I even crave their wings. The fries are okay and nothing to write home about. The service is either hot or cold. I have a favorite waitress Jen, but if she’s not working the service is pretty underwhelming.

Been to Varners several times to watch UFC and play trivia on Saturday nights. This place would be a four star for sure if the bar area wasn’t smoking. This place has no ventilation and a perfectly large outdoor deck where smokers could go. You literally have smoke in your face at all times. People are going to smoke regardless so make them go outside. The food is bar food and pretty good. Haven’t had anything bad. Burgers and wings are especially tasty. They have $ 4 Pinnacle Vodka drinks on Saturday nights as well. Even though I don’t want to I’ll be going to the new B dubs at Cumberland Mall for UFC fights. Lose the smoking and this place would be great.

This is one of my favorite bars. It does have a non smoking section for those who don’t smoke, but the main part is the bar. Like any bar it has bar food, so I am not surprised when someone doesn’t like their salad. Seriously, who comes to a bar for a salad. But if you want a burger and great beer, they have amazing burgers and a great beer list. They do get creative with their food from time to time, but don’t expect a Fogo De Chao’s quality when you go to a bar. You will be disappointed.

It’s got a college town atmosphere & sports are highlighted by pool tables & college garb. Their burgers are good as well as the steak if you like a relatively busy atmosphere this is it. Service was good &!friendly. We go at least once every month.

This place has the best wings I’ve had! Love them! The house tots and fried mushrooms are amazing too! The staff is super friendly and accommodating! They also usually have something going every night.

Cockroaches on the table, 25 minutes for the drinks to be delivered, undercooked meat, no way anyone should come here. Yuck.

Cool place to eat, meet friends, get a drink, watch a game or just crack it off in general. Hell, when I walked in around midnight on Black Friday, there was even a poker game taking place and DJ Bob killing the 1s &2s. The TVs are prevalent and the craft beer is flowing. The food looked pretty good but I only had a couple chicken wings which were pretty par for the ATL bar food scene. The craft beer selection, while ample, left something to be desired in terms of unique offerings(though Lagunitas might be some kind of Holy Grail in these parts). They do have game and pool tables, but the shuffleboard table needs some serious love. The staff is super friendly and Varner’s seem like the type of place where old friends meet up; the neighborhood kick it spot that has some good food too. The patio is sizable and I bet Varner’s gets popping on a warm Summer night. We shall see.

My son and my friend and I decided to try this place on a Wednesday evening after work, and I must say they have really great burgers! The craft burger are $ 5.95 on Wednesdays, served with French fries(not bad huh) and they offer a nice variety of craft burgers. The kid ordered chicken tenders and a brownie sundae(delish) all of the food was great. The service was a little shaky, we had the most confused and missing waitress ever. I believe she took on to many tasks at one time because the service was bad, friendly but bad. The people across from us had to go find someone to get water. I heard them complaining as well. I’m probably sure that what I’m about to say has absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant or maybe it does because someone could have told him to sit his ass down and shut up, but when we walked in it looked like some people were setting up to play poker in the restaurant area, which was cool, I had no problem with that, but there was a gentleman with the porker crew whom treated the restaurant like it was his home. He was watching a basket ball game on the flat screens up front where they were playing poker, and he was literally standing up and yelling at the TV throughout our entire meal. It was awful, just awful. My friend and I could not even have a conversation or enjoy our meal between searching for the waitress and looking at this clown every time he started yelling. The waitresses & greeter seem to have been acquainted with him already, so they just smiled. Words of advice: Control your regulars/don’t allow them to take over your restaurant. The bar area seemed fun, a lot of very handsome bearded men were gathering In that area as we were leaving. Which means I will check out the bar area on my next visit. Lol. Food: Thumb’s Up Service: Thumb’s Down

Monday night Wings are BOGO, they are hot, juicy, crispy, && bigger than your average wing joints. Also comes with choice of fries, tator tots, or celery/carrots. All their sauces are made in house. Friends favorite is lemon-yaki, mine are habanero for heat && garlic Parmesan. It actually taste heavily on the garlic && the Parmesan is shredded on top they come out super crunchy. Great place for family, BUT the best servers are in the bar. If you reside in the«Smynings» area it’s hard not to make it a routine to go there weekly after you had it once. We definitely have && enjoy being friends /family there too!

Varners is an odd little mixture of family restaurant and bar. You walk in to a large, open foyer/hostess desk area that is almost as big as the bar itself. If you take an immediate right, you can go through a door into a glassed-in bar area, filled with smoke and dominated by a long old-fashioned bar right in the middle of the room. If, instead of turning right, you head straight back, you’ll run into the dining room, which sits galley style along the back of the building. The whole place has an outdated feel, kind of dark and dominated by dark wood booths and furniture. The night we went was MMA fight night, trivia night, and college football all in one, and yet the place was half-empty. That’s never a good sign on a Saturday night at any restaurant, but Varners is definitely going for a sports bar-type vibe, so 8 p.m. on a Saturday should be high times. Luckily, this meant my date and I were able to snag a booth on the back wall of the restaurant without any problem. Our server was friendly enough, and the beers we ordered from their extensive menu came back pretty promptly. The beer selection was by far my favorite thing about Varners, almost(but not quite) excellent enough to merit a fourth star. We planned to stay a while to watch the sports and chat, so both of us drank a couple of beers before we ordered food. The server was attentive enough that we never had to wait, but not so frequently present that we felt awkward for not ordering food yet. Eventually, I ordered BBQ nachos and he ordered the BBQ sampler platter. Both were just fine, A-OK as the review says. Nothing to write home about either way. Overall, the restaurant was fine but forgettable. If you’re in the area, it would be a decent place to stop in for a meal, but don’t expect fireworks.

I recently discovered that Burgers here are also very, very good and they are value priced at $ 5 for lunch M — F, and 5.95(all day) on Wednesdays. I upgraded my review from 3 stars to a 4 stars. I also fixed the typo regarding my remark about the boneless wing sauce(i.e. «wing sauce» as opposed to «salad dressing» being«too think» [as per Ryan M’s critical — but erroneous — remark in his review /referring to my previous review]).

What can I say about this place that won’t be too negative? Oh, I do like their beer selections, but that’s about it… The service was mediocre, and the food was a meh… Do not order their grilled chicken salad — it was massive! The Balsamic Vinaigrette was just«thick» and not smooth or runny like most dressings. I then asked for the Italian dressing thinking I’d get a better deal but that too was a «thick» dressing. I then decided to venture to my only saving grace, my grilled piece of chicken… Even my grilled piece of chicken had no flavor whatsoever! Seriously? Overall, I was so disappointed in this salad… Yes, I know I was at Varner’s, a tavern, but it doesn’t mean the food has to be terrible! I even tried my husbands«swimming wings» and I was not impressed either :(
