This place is a hidden gem. The people who gave this place a poor rating didn’t give this place a fair shot. If you don’t see what you want, Elaine will work with you to get the inventory you need. She was great at getting books for my kids’ summer reading. I’ve always found something here and I will be back!

I had a great experience at The Book Stop. The store is quaint and comfortable with a nice selection and friendly atmosphere. The books are modestly priced, and they make an effort to stock some older copies just to keep the sale price down. Elaine was very helpful and took time out to show me around the store. I’ll definitely be back; I’m glad to have a great little book store in my neighborhood!

My entire family loves this darling bookstore! The books are in great condition and if you bring books in to trade for credit, you can get popular books that look new for a fraction of the price. The owner Elaine is always helpful when you are looking for a particular book or book recommendations. She also gets so excited when she meets children that love to read! My teenager can go through three books a week and we finally gave Elaine a wish list of books and genres that my daughter likes and each time we come in Elaine has something new that she knows my daughter will like. Elaine also started making«Burses»(not sure what the proper spelling is) and they are purses made out of books. They are beautiful and we purchased two that were already made and paid a little extra to have a custom Burse made. I have attached a picture below. This little store is a Smyrna treasure and the owner is a delight!

Wandered in here while waiting for the(disappointing) Chinese take out from next door. Was sooo thrilled that I accidentally found this place! Lots of books, well organized, and all books are in great shape(considering they’re used). All books are priced at 50% off the list price. You can trade in books too! You get 25% of the price for trade ins, which can be used as credit in the store. We met the owner, Elaine, who had a wonderful sense of humor and was so nice. Really enjoyed talking to her and picked up a couple of books while we were in. I will definitely be back!

I’m moving to Atlanta in January, so of course on my house hunting trip beforehand I had to check to check out the local used book stores. I found this place online and was really excited to visit. My first impression was that the books were stacked unlike any other bookshop I’ve ever visited, which is unusual but not really a big deal. However the actual book selection was extremely poor. The majority of the books were of the ‘sex with pirate/spy/vampire/android’ genre. Kind of shocked at a) how many of those of books even existed, and b) how many were in one store. There may be thousands of books in there, but unless you’re into that genre you will probably be disappointed. Then as disappointment started to set in I overhead the manager talk to a mother and her children who had brought some books in to sell. I have never heard anything like it. The manager told the little kids off in the most condescending manner possible for spilling juice on the books and things like that. You know, the usual things kids do! It got to the point where I had to leave rather than listen to it any more which may be the first time I’ve ever walked out of a bookstore. Just a really bizarre experience.

Warning– intellectual Unilocaler from Bay Area here. As an avid reader I am always happy to adventure into a 5-star book store. This weekend I was in Atlanta for a work conference and had the displeasure to visit The Book Stop. 5 Stars on Unilocal warrants going out of my way to visit a book store — The Book Store is not worth that adventure. As a used book store, I am sure the books are well priced. The selection and organization of the store is my biggest complaint. Besides the haphazard book sorting — with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in the«classics» section and a book on how to be a true Christian wife in «true crime»(un-ironically) — this book store genuinely lacks depth or breadth in subject matter(other than Romance, Christian Self-help and Crime/Mystery) How was their nonfiction section you might ask? Self help books, cook books and travel guides(one copy of Black Swan). Sociology? Philosophy? If it was there at all, it was buried below falsely sorted books. Call me crazy but Powell’s and City Lights have nothing to fear.

I’m currently chiding myself for not having written a fabulous review about The Book Stop. I have been coming here for over two years now and I absolutely love it. It’s a trade-in discount book store, with friendly staff and a wide selection of books. Check that, a HUGE selection of books, new and classic. They even have a kids’ section in the back of the store which is so cute — check out their website for details on readings, activities, etc. Oh! AND — they just started a Book Club! If you’re in the Smyrna/Vinings area, make this your local bookstore! Just a heads up it’s in the same little shopping center with Bella’s Pizza.

Ohhh I love good books and even more, I love good books that I can get for cheap! I’ve visited a handful of used bookstores around Atlanta, but this one might be my favorite. The Book Stop is quite small yet everything felt really organized and in its correct genre. I came in to grab a few books to complete a series I’ve been reading(No, not Twilight! or The Hunger Games!) and it took me no time at all to find them. I know this may sound strange, but this place was clean. Another used book store I visit, just seems dirty and grungy. Also, the lady that helped me out was really nice and helpful!

I love this little book shop! Books everywhere, neatly laid out with plenty of room to browse and shop and simply inhale that wonderful smell of pulp paperbacks. I could have spent an hour in here, but instead it was only 15 minutes as I arrived just before closing time. Not that I was rushed by the staff, I just had places to be and Unilocal to write. Pricing is simple enough — half of the cover price. Plus tax. It’s a little expensive since some of these books have been out for a while, but it was worth it to pick up some excellent reading material that will keep me occupied for a couple of weeks.

I have been a «regular» customer at The Book Stop since it opened in 2008! I have been become an avid reader since visiting Ginny(the store’s owner). I love how I can always count on Ginny to guide me to a new title or author. Every suggestion she has given me has been a winner and I have quickly returned with a great review and ready to pick up another book. The store has a wide variety of titles, genres and authors. It is a great addition to the area. There is nothing like it in Smyrna. It is great to support a local business owner who is connected with the community, provides great customer service and loves her job! If you haven’t visited The Book Stop yet, I highly recommend you do soon.

«I’ve been dying to check this place out!» my co-worker said, as we dashed into this little bookstore while waiting from our food ordered from a few doors down. From the moment we walked in, all we kept saying was«wow!» The Book Stop is a relatively new and very cute little used-book store in the small shopping center just past the intersection of Paces Ferry and Atlanta Road. When I walked inside, I felt like Charlie walking into the Chocolate Factory. Every kind of book that I’d found myself looking for recently was right there. My coworker and I literally started running around the store looking for this book and that book. I love that this place sets itself apart because, unlike some of the other used book stores I’ve been to recently, this one was brightly lit and VERY organized. The books(mostly paperbacks, btw) were placed horizontally, which my neck surely appreciated. I was also impressed that the store was a little bigger on the inside than I expected. Also lovely — although they were used books, they didn’t all look crazy beat up and bent out of shape. In fact, the one I bought barely has a crack in the spine. The Book Stop has a great selection of current and not-so-current titles in a wide range of genres. I think we met Ginny the owner on our visit; she was sweet as pie and so inviting. I also thought it was very cool that she seemed to know a little something about every title and genre we asked about. Narrative mystery fiction? She had an opinion on the book I picked up. Vampire romance? She had plenty of suggestions and was ready to have a whole discussion about whether True Blood on HBO was true to the book series or not(Not, she votes). She was toe-for-toe on any author my coworker threw into the conversation. Clearly, Ginny.knows.books. The books are sold at half the publishers list price and The Book Stop takes trade-ins for store credit that you can use towards the purchase of other books. Happy book-hunting!
