Didn’t enjoy eating here. Menu choices are okay, but our food was not great. The food just didn’t seem fresh, coffee was not good, and flavors were bland. Wait staff didn’t seem to be interested in waiting on our table after taking initial order.

To update my last review: I do thoroughly enjoy the diners breakfast menu and also the weekend Breakfast Buffet. It has a higher variety for you to choose from. Just be sure to bring your appetite along with you. I have also enjoyed breakfast food there through the week(both take out and eat in). The staff has most of the time been very pleasant when I have been there and they periodically check our table in a timely manner.

Very disappointed with this choice for food. Ordered the sausage gravy with biscuits and home fries. The biscuits were old and dry, the home fries were raw and disgusting. Prices did not reflect to food(too expensive). Received 1 star for quick service. Will not come back here again :(

Just digusting. I’d rather eat McDonalds and it tastes better than this diner’s food.

This place doesn’t get any stars!!! It just wouldn’t let me take it away! We left here bc food coming out looks gross bathroom is gross, and even the coffee is gross! We will never eat here. I can only imagine what kitchen looks like. We stated out trying to get to Helens sausage house and couldn’t find it but when we pulled it up on safari it’s closed on Sunday’s. I really wanted to make it to Helens bc has such great reviews. If u go here don’t use the map on Unilocal I its all wrong. We are still in search for a good meal. The reason we stopped in Smyna diner was bc parking lot was full! Don’t let it fool you, keep driving!

Smyrna Diner disappoints where it matters most, the food. Despite decent service, I can’t give this place more than one star because the food just isn’t good. Family and friends always see this place as their getting off the S. Smyrna exit and then ask us if we want to go there for breakfast in the morning. I’m guessing the location is what keeps it open. We readily inform them that, Bridgeway Family Restaurant, in town, is by far a better place to go and we haven’t had anyone say they didn’t love it. The food at Smyrna Diner is mediocre and the prices are too high for the quality you receive. What’s worse is going there on the weekends when they have the breakfast buffet. The buffet food is reminiscent of the cafeteria quality from school many years ago. Because they are busy trying to fill the buffet for the masses, anything else that gets ordered is done haphazardly as if it were a hassle to make. Diners are my favorite places to eat but this one does the diner name a disservice.

We drove around for quite some time looking for a place to eat that wasn’t a national chain. We almost pulled into the Waffle House next to the place, but we figured most diners can at least make a decent bowl of soup and a burger. It took the staff surprisingly long to seat us considering there were very few people in the place, and there were plenty of waitresses standing around. My wife ordered a bowl of vegetable soup an open face hot turkey sandwich with potatoes and I ordered a cheeseburger. The soup was described as tasting«like it’s from a can» by my wife. Her mashed potatoes tasted like instant, and the turkey sandwich was fresh out of a microwave. My burger was not fresh. It was clearly a frozen hamburger patty. It was served with some potato chips dumped on the side. I asked my waitress if the burger was a frozen patty, and she confirmed that it was. Seriously, how hard is it to toss a fistful of ground beef on a grill and press it with a spatula? They did manage to pour a soda for me that tasted like actual coca cola. I can’t remember the last time I was served food that was completely inedible, but it happened here, for BOTH of us. You should definitely pass this place up. It is not traditional diner food, which should at least be fresh and comforting. We had neither of these at the Smyrna Diner. There is a Waffle House next door. Do yourself a favor… stop there instead.

Hit this place on our way down to Ocean City Maryland more out of desperation than anything as we didn’t want chain and sure as hell didn’t want to get greased in the usual fast food style but seemingly that is all there is in the local area. Good: * The parking lot is gigantic and with how dead everything was last Friday we got a close spot no worries. * Fairly easy off/on from Route 1 although the entrance is a bit quirky in that you have to drive down the road a bit and turn into what looks like a self storage place then go down an almost unlit access road to get to the diner. * The prices for everything were in line with what you would expect at a diner as were the menu offerings. Bad: * The bill was screwed up where our waitress tried to charge all of us for four drinks even though the kids meals are drinks included and everybody else got water. * Drink refills? We apparently don’t need no stinking drink refills because I’m still waiting for mine as our server vanished after our order was taken until she dropped off the bill. Ugly: * Lots and I mean lots of staff sitting around doing 100% nothing except talking, laughing and fooling around on their phones while the few customers that were there waited. * I guess they got a new POS system recently or they just changed out a lot of their staff because other than one person no one knew how to adjust off incorrect charges or take credit card payments without having a multi-staff conference. * The food quality is not good at all. Chicken Parm that is fried super hard served with an extremely harsh and bitter red sauce. The special chicken and dumplings was swimming in a gross amount of butter and it was also fun watching our waitress attempt to explain the dish to us as she clearly had no clue what it was. You know for the most part diner food should be a piece of cake. You take brain dead breakfast food and pair it with comfort/old school time tested favorites for lunch & dinner and you’re done. But, when you have an apathetic staff that is more worried about sitting on their ass then they are about doing their job and you have either a kitchen staff that can’t cook basic food/are using crap for ingredients then you do something that I didn’t think was possible in that you create a diner that sucks.

When I first entered the Smyrna Diner, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly staff. I very happily noticed how quintessentially«classic diner» the place was-beautiful baked goods, regulars sitting at the counter. My boyfriend and I ordered lunch. He got a BLT with fresh vegetables and juicy bacon and I got the fried clam strips. They were so crispy and yummy! They were a perfect precursor for our trip to the beach. The waitress was always smiling and very attentive. I was incredibly satisfied leaving especially how nice the sense of community was inside the diner. 5 stars! Can’t wait to go back!
