My first Lupus Walk(2013) event with Kianna and it was WONDERFUL! 2.5 miles with Family, Friends(New and Old) and the suppoirt of Loved ones made this walk especially memorable for me! The walk was just 2.5 miles and to me it went rather quickly. I was amamzed at all of the people present. There was barely enough room to move at some points so the turn out was great. I arrived late and had to cut through the crowd to get to the registration table. But I saw a classmate from High School as I ran through the crowd, so that made my day to see a familiar smiling face! I think that this event was very well organized. I with they had more places to park that were closer to the starting line for persons with a handicap sticker. Other than that this was the best event I have attended this year! Below please find some information that I found on the Lupus Foundation website… Formerly known as Walk for Lupus Now®, our Walk to End Lupus NowTM events are conducted nationwide by the Lupus Foundation of America(LFA) and its national network to raise money for lupus research, increase awareness of lupus, and rally public support for those who suffer from its brutal impact. Each year, thousands of people across the country join forces with the LFA and walk with one unified purpose – to end lupus. Lupus is one of the cruelest, most mysterious diseases on earth – it strikes without warning, has unpredictable, sometimes fatal effects, lasts a lifetime, and has no known cause and no known cure. It is more pervasive than people think, and impacts people on a scale that the public does not realize. People like you are now becoming aware of how urgently resources are needed to fight lupus, and to help those who suffer from it. If you join the fight, we will not have to concede victory to this terrible disease. If you join the fight, we will be able to solve the cruel mystery of lupus in our lifetime and end its devastating impact on millions of lives.
