I will never ever go back to this woman. Elsy is a ripoff. I went there with my sister. we both told her what we wanted done to our hair. we wanted our hair colored highlighted and wash and set. my hair is thinner than my sister. she looked at my hair and told me than she could do my hair for $ 80 and do my sister’s for $ 100. another woman did our hair and she told her what we wanted done because everyone there acts as though they don’t speak english. after getting our hair done, i was about to pay her and she tells me $ 120 for my hair and $ 120 for my sister. I told her this is not what you told us. Elsy responded that i got my hair colored and highlighted and the price she gave is if my hair was colored and highlighted in black. why would i want my hair colored and highlighted in the same color my hair is. this woman is a crook. she gets you in by stating one price and when your hair is done, she quotes another price. this woman is greedy for money and deceptive and i will never go back to this woman ever again. Everyone beware. this woman will screw you over. be prepared to pay this woman way more than she quotes and she will play stupid when confronted. this woman should not be in business. She definately has lost my business and she will never sucker me again. of all the years i have has my hair done, no one has ever charged me this kind of money. elsy, never again. Your a crooked woman. Remember crooked people never prosper.

I’ve been going to Elsy for years(since 2007) and I love it. Whenever friends or family visit from out of town and need a quick do, I take them to Elsy. I read the other review and LOL because it sounds like Elsy. She’s reluctant at times to tell people no and will try to decide(taking too long at times) to say so. But she isn’t being mean or rude… it’s just how she is when she’s trying to figure something out. And knowing she will likely say No already. Lol. Give her a try. She and her brother Ruby are great IMO. I do miss her sister being here though. I loved how she did my eyebrows. Sigh. I guess you can’t have it all.

Okay. So this is the first time I’ve ever had to do an update. And from five stars — to one. Dropped by salon on Tuesday — after calling to confirm that they could take me for a rinse and roller set. Got there at 6:40pm and there were 4 people waiting in ahead of me and only two stylists working. I had a big important meeting the next day — and I wanted to look extra nice — so I opted to wait. At 7:30, Elsy gestures for me to come back to shampoo bowl. And I tell her that I’m getting a rinse first. She then looks at me like I just farted(excuse the euphemism). But it’s truly the most accurate way I can think to describe her facial expression. She then proceeds to tell me — in halting, broken english — that her rinse is really expensive. That it cost«40 dollar» and the entire time she’s repeating this phrase(no exaggeration — she said it literally 5 times) she’s shaking her head(no) at me. She then tries to elaborate that her rinse is really good — it’s better than the other salons. Now keep in mind — not one time did I balk at the price. In fact — I’m so taken aback by her behavior — that I’m kind of just standing there. It’s clear that she does NOT want to do this rinse. So — just because at this point — I feel like messing with her, I ask, «$ 40 dollars. Hmmm. What kind of rinse do you use?» She ignores my question and shakes her head again and says, «Do you have a relaxer?» To which I reply, «Yes, my hair is relaxed but it’s been over 2 weeks so it’s safe to put a demi or semi permanent rinse on it.» Next she says something in Spanish to the other stylist who comes over and hands me a Design Essentials hair color booklet. Really?! Really, Elsy? This is your special, proprietary rinse!!! I didn’t realize that Design Essentials had signed an exclusive contract with you. Wow. Yeesh. So now I’m super irritated, so I say, «40 dollars? That’s fine.» And she finally says,(sucking her teeth first) «Aw, mommy — it’s too late to do a rinse. It’s already 7:30.» So at that point — I don’t even TRY to explain to her that I don’t want my hair flat ironed — which means that the 30 minutes you save on flat ironing time can be applied to the time used for the rinse to «take.» I picked up my purse, handbag and bottle of water and just walked out of there with my dignity in tact — because if I had stayed one more second — I woulda cussed that idiot out — and it might’ve been completely wasted because when I’m inclined — I can take profanity to an entirely new level and I think some of the words I wanted to use don’t necessarily have a Spanish equivalent. Anyhoo! Elsy might be cheap and fast. .. but her dishonesty(tell me upfront that you don’t have time to do the rinse and I won’t bother getting dressed and driving over there) and pisspoor customer service(the implication that I don’t have $ 40 to pay for a rinse. .. coupled with the grimacing and sucking of the teeth). .. it was all just too much. .. so as they say — you can stick in fork in me cuz I’m done!!!
