Oh no! I’m so sad to give a bad review for Ebony & Ivory after hearing so many rave reviews and that it was hidden gem in Smyrna. We had planned on ordering our food to go before we arrived and little did we know that was the only option! I actually loved the idea though of just a walk-up window with no inside seating. Something about it was charming and I was excited that we found a new BBQ place. It only took about 15 minutes to get our food, exactly what they had told us it would be. And I couldn’t believe how cheap it was! We both got entrees that come with 2 sides and the total was $ 18. I ordered the beef brisket with baked beans and collards. I was immediately disappointed upon opening my box. The beef just didn’t look appetizing at all. It was very fatty which I cut off and tasted very dry. Of course, I covered it in the spicy bbq sauce I ordered on the side which was good. My collards were yuck and the baked beans were pretty decent. But, then again so are Bush’s. My SO ordered the catfish with mac and beans. He liked his meal, but said nothing was worth raving about. I think we’ll give it another try, but I’ll definitely switch up my order this time around.

First of all, I think the owners should play the classic version of Ebony & Ivory by Stevie Wonder and Sir Paul McCartney As a southern girl, I’ve had a ridiculous amount of BBQ during my time on Earth and decided to give Ebony & Ivory a shot after my other half couldn’t stop talking about how much he wanted some of their tacos. This little place is NOT a restaurant(but there is one chair to sit down in while you wait for your order) but they do have two separate windows to order from, with menus visibly placed on both sides, and a drive thru. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and I couldn’t help but notice how affordable this place is. Most meal options come with two sides(if your heart desires) and NO drink for under $ 10. I settled on the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich with the sweet BBQ sauce and two sides for $ 5.99, while my better half opted for the taco combo that came with two tacos and two sides for $ 6.50. The sandwich was huge. A ton of chicken which apparently had been marinated in some sort of love before they put it on the bun because it was just soooo tender and juicy and tasted ridiculously good. The greens and mac n cheese were simple and nothing to gush over. Nothing in comparison to other sides I’ve had at other BBQ spots but I have to give them kudos for making this chicken taste the way it did. I was satisfied with my choice and couldn’t finish it all. Pretty decent experience. Good service. Not a long wait time. Nothing amazing happened but I did eat some fabulous chicken!

This is good food at a good price. The barbecue always has that delicious smoke infused taste. I recommend this place to anyone in the Marietta/Smyrna area. The ribs are good and so are the smoked chicken wings. You will not be disappointed.

This is some of the best barbeque around at great price. You might have to wait a few minutes for your order to come up, but quality doesnt come out of microwave.

It must have been a fluke when I wrote that last review. I’ve been back several times even in the pouring rain. Their food is just that good. My faves are still the pulled pork sandwiches with collards, and BBQ baked beans. I’ve even ventured off the beaten path and tried pulled chicken, Mac n cheese and coleslaw. Each time its been mouth-watering good and filling to boot! Also, my Grandma loves the Catfish. I will return every time I’m in the Smyrna area.

I purchased 2 meals to go, on 12/15/2015. The Cajun chicken wing dinner and the fried catfish dinner the chicken was not good the skin was like eating rubber and the chicken wings pieces were large in size, not all natural chicken, the Mac and cheese was not good the shells undone the cheese sauce thick, my husband had the catfish and said it was ok, which meant he didn’t really enjoy it, but didn’t want to make me to feel bad, Since I told him the restaurant had so many good reviews .This was our first time ordering here .I was highly disappointed with the meals and won’t go there again.

8÷20÷15 — They have the most AMAZING beef brisket sandwiches! They give you PLENTY of meat that you can almost make 2 sandwiches out of it. The meat is also SUPER tender! I DEFINITELY will be back for the beef brisket!!! 11÷27÷15 — I just went in this evening and got a fried catfish sandwich and it was AMAZING!!! I didn’t even have to ask for hot sauce and they had the Frank’s Red Hot packets in the bag! The food was so AWESOME that I had to call them back to tell them how DELICIOUS it was! Ebony & Ivory is my new go-to spot for FRIEDCATFISH on Fridays!!!

Great barbecue! I enjoy this better than all other barbecue in the nearby area. The brisket is great and the smoked wings are a favorite for parties and friends visiting. Call in a few minutes ahead and they will have waiting for you upon arrival. Don’t let the small scare you — and look for the smoker out on the street.

4 stars, just cause I can’t sit down and eat here. This place is a bbq jewel. They have some if the best smoked meat available in Cobb county. Not too spicy, just right. The Smoked hot wings are a game time favorite at my house as well as the pork ribs. The brisket is solid as well as the pulled pork. To me my favorite items are the sandwiches and tacos. Just point blank one of the best fried catfish sandwiches I have ever had, this sandwich is a man meal it’s huge but so tender flaky and delicious. The tacos were a happy surprise for me they come in all meats

The catfish is great as well as the beef brisket I’d stay away from the ribs and rib tips. It’s a l drive through so very convenient. The fish is worth the wait. Enjoy!

Great Phở. Went at lunch rush and was a tad slow, but Phở made up for it. Also got pork spring rolls and they were excellent.

The ribs were good but the catfish has no flavor, the macaroni tastes like someone with a no salt diet made it.

I cannot even to begin to explain how disappointed I am with this place. I saw the reviews and smelled the wood and thought I was in for a treat. I ordered 1 lb of rib tips. If you do barbecue you gotta be able to make decent rib tips right? Wrong. I am convinced ¾ of the pound I ordered was wood! Burnt beyond being edible. I don’t even think it was from he same day. How could you serve someone this with any sense of accountability. I normally never review a place after one visit, but, I have severe buyers remorse and can’t recommend or ever return to give this place another chance.

We tried this place on a whim one night, it was about an hour before closing but the food was made to order. We both got the fried catfish sandwich, with fries, fried okra, collard greens, and sweet potato fries. I know, lots of fried things. The fish was really good, wasn’t greasy at all for having been fried. We liked all of our sides, collard greens were pretty alright. We talked to ‘Ivory’ for a little bit while we were there and he was super nice. We also talked to some other people waiting who helped us decide what to order. Overall atmosphere was pretty cool. We liked that it was a small business and it was just genuine. I’d strongly recommend this to anyone who is interested!

If you’re looking for great BBQ at an even greater price you won’t go wrong here! Ebony and ivory has quality food at a awesome price. It is like a drive-up burger joint and there is no seating and is only to go but what a bag of treats you take away from this find barbecue restaurant! My girlfriend and I regularly stop by in the wait can be a little long as there is always someone there ahead of you! But it is worth the wait!

Smoked wings are awesome! Prices are reasonable. Note: This is a take out only place, walk up window or drivethru. This is truly a hole in the wall great find. DELICIOUS Bar-B-Q smoked on the grill out front.

BBQ how it’s meant to be. They have a limited but interesting menu. Although I wanted to try the fish or brisket I always judge a BBQ joint by their pulled pork, then I start getting crazy with other options. Their pork was very good with a great smoke flavor. They have a smoker out front and get this, they actually put their food in it. I know crazy. Their potato salad was weird. Weird like a fox. I’m pretty sure that’s the saying. Who knows. It was different but very good. I did not get ketchup with my fries so when I was half way done with the pork in went my fries with spicy BBQ sauce. It turned into some strange combo of pulled pork goodness with the crisp of a fry. Doing things like this is the reason I hide my Unilocal account from my wife like its an Ashley Madison membership. I will be back to try some other offerings.

Prices were good for the portion sizes. I had the beef brisket sandwich, collard greens, and fries. A little too much fat on the the cuts of brisket; would have preferred a smokier taste in the meat. The mustard base barbecue sauce was good. Overall average barbecue, not bad but average(B-).

Oh mannnnn! I REALLY wanted to like this place. :(we’d been talking about trying it forever, after reading and hearing all the marvelous reviews we just knew we were in for a treat! Once we arrived we saw that the place was no bigger than a large trailer and there’s no inside seating just a walk-up window where you place your order. Neither my wife and I were at all put off by this because we’re both Caribbean and we’re used to some of the BEST restaurants serving food just like this, no frills, no fuss just good food! In fact, seeing the setup made us even more excited, we live for hole-in-the-walls! «Ebony» was outside manning the huge BBQ grill and he greeted us as we got out of the car. I also observed that he said a personal«goodbye» and«thank you» to everyone as they picked up their food and left, which was very nice. We weren’t very hungry so we decided to order a sample platter to split between us – we LOVE sample platters! What better way to taste a little of almost everything on the menu?! The platter we chose came with ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings and fish and we chose potato salad and Mac n’ cheese as our sides. They also have a variety of BBQ sauce flavors to choose from and we chose the«sweet BBQ». I was super excited to see for myself why this place had such good reviews. Ten minutes later, our order was ready and we hopped back in the car and drove somewhere to dig in. I put the first bite in my mouth, then the second and third and all I could say was…“womp, womppppp”. :(:(I was SO disappointed! Our food was terrible! I’m a harsh critic of Mac and cheese because frankly mine is the bomb and my mom’s is even better, I love the stuff! So if Mac and cheese is an option at a restaurant I HAVE to order it but, 9⁄10 times I’m disappointed and this time was no exception. The noodles were hard and the Mac had zero flavor, it was gross. The potato salad: again my mom and I make the best potato salad on Earth so I’m hard to please but this stuff didn’t even come close! It tasted old, the potatoes were undercooked and it lacked salt and mayo. Yuck! The ribs were tender I’ll say that but again, there was not enough seasoning. The fish was cooked well and it was tender and crisp but it too was bland. The pulled pork was a disaster! It was like an old shoe lace, extremely dryyyyyy. The chicken wings were overlooked and not tender and juicy as they should’ve been. My wife said she enjoyed the white sauce they gave us for the fish, we had no idea what it was(it wasn’t tartar sauce) but she liked it a lot. Otherwise, the entire meal was basically a fail. I couldn’t believe a place with such good reviews served food that was so sub-par. To be fair, we did pull up a half hour before closing so maybe we got the last scraps of the day but still… We even thought about not going in since it was so close to closing time but when we got there Ebony was still putting fresh meat into the grill, there were several people waiting for their orders and a few people even pulled up after us so we figured it was«game on» so we went for it. I’m tempted to want to give EBONY&IVORY another shot since we seem to be one of the few people to have a bad experience there but after such bad food I probably won’t. I would’ve given them one star if it hadn’t been for Ebony’s friendly disposition and his chatting with the customers, he was the only reason for the second star. :(
