Great décor and atmosphere but upstairs the food is just awful and overpriced. Service was poor also. If you want good food and decent prices you won’t get it here. If you like feeding ducks and fish, paying over $ 10 for an awful salad wagon, and hanging with seniors then maybe this is for you.

for what this place is(I went to the«bottom» level for the dinner buffet) I was pleased overall. the chicken + meatloaf + turkey on the meat buffet were all tasty. I did not enjoy the what looked like carved beef in gravy. had an over powering taste of green bell pepper that was not at all pleasant. I did not try the ham/sausage/swiss steak/or pulled pork. the mashed potatoes + mac/cheese + corn(yes it was from a can) from the side dish station were good. the potatoes were instant but did have flavor. I opted for the yellow/chicken gravy since the brown/beef gravy had the look of sloppy joe’s. was quite«chunky». did not try the canned green beans nor what I think was a potato dish that was heavily crusted in burn corn flakes & literally stuck to the sides of the steam pan. I also did not try the wild rice simply because I am not a fan. LOVED the salad bar. will definitely check out the upstairs all you can eat sald + soup + bread table at another time. would have preferred to see some dinner rolls vs only bread as starch option but we dealt with it. tried only the chicken noodle soup(was getting full!) & it tasted home made. had the apple crisp w/vanilla ice cream for dessert & it was delicious. the staff while friendly I gotta say the uniforms they have the ladies wearing look totally sloppy. the«mennonite» style dress & aprons do not flatter any of the ladies that we saw. they look dirty & hang on them like burlap sacks. add to it the modern looking tennis shoes they all wore & I think the intent of having them in an old fashioned type outfit suitable for the locale & cuisine gets lost. khaki slacks w/a denim shirt would be more appropriate. flatter the ladies body types & still give that country feel. something management should consider. what they were now just look sloppy & dirty

We were in Wooster for graduation weekend. Not having made dinner reservations months in advance, my daughter recommended going to the Sunday buffet at The Barn. Buffets for American food are very difficult to pull off — food drys out the longer the food sits. Crisp fried chicken gets soggy from the steam table. The food was good, mostly hot and tasty. The items included meatloaf, fried chicken, pot roast, Mac and cheese and the like. The sides were also pretty good. Nothing spectacular but the«stick to your ribs» kind of food and plenty of it. The price of the buffet(15.96) made it a good value. This is a good choice for the weekend because it is a very large restaurant and can easily accommodate large parties. A solid three stars!

Our family loves The Barn. The buffet is always excellent… food is good, always hot, and always plenty. We love spending time outside feeding the fish and the ducks and geese. This is a great family place and the service is great. We recommend to everyone!

This is THE place to go to for simple comfort food, though I’d only recommend coming on weekends when the buffet is served(and it’s WAY better than the Amish Door. Yeah, I said it!) I don’t usually frequent buffets, but this one is always clean, fresh, and usually well-stocked. Highlights include fresh breads with a whipped honey butter spread, salad bar with tons of fixings, sweet potatoes with a mountain of marshmallows, juicy pot roast, and delicious tea served in a mason jar. Skip the instant mashed potatoes, though :[ There’s also a pond right outside where you can feed the ducks or sit on the swings, a pantry, gift shop, toy store, and archery range. Rather quaint, I’d say.

First I need to make it clear that my review is based on the buffet in the basement that they only have on weekends. I haven’t been to the upstairs restaurant so I can’t comment on that. The buffet food is just really good country food. They had a lot of meats to choose from. Ham, turkey, roast beef, shredded beef, meatloaf, sausage, and my favorite the swiss steak. I may be forgetting some but they had a better variety of main dish meats then larger buffets I have been to. Our service today was excellent. I don’t think my cup ever got below half full because the waitress was on top of it. The only thing I didn’t like was the bread because it was dry, but everything else was so damn good it didn’t matter. It is smaller then some buffets but what they lack in size they make up for in food quality. It’s almost an hour away from me but I plan on going back often. It’s worth the drive for us. Everyone in the family was happy, including my pickiest kid who normally has a complaint everywhere we go. Edit to add that it was $ 15 and some change a person but that price included the drinks. Kids 14 and under are 90 cents a year.

I love the soup, salad and bred bar. They have by far the best broccoli cheddar soup I have ever had!

This place could be great. It has so much potential. The interior is beautiful, and a menu revamp is really all it needs… And a bar… The food and service were both mediocare. Neither wowed us. The whole experience was just«eh…» Which sucks because of how truly beautiful the interior is. Salad bar for $ 10 was not worth it. Find better items at Ruby Tuesdays salad bar for $ 3. As others mentioned… Vegetable of the day was canned corn. My steak wasn’t bad, but my boyfriends burger was sad and depressing looking. Barn fries were good. Broccoli and cheese soup had noodles in it. Will not return. Not worth the price.

I have given The Barn one star for atmosphere but that is about as far as it goes. We have eaten here many times but have noticed the quality of the food steadily declining and the prices rising. This visit found the food bland and over priced. I wanted a potato crusted trout lunch that came with two sides for $ 10.95. I asked if I could substitute one side for the salad bar. I was told I could substitute BOTH sides and get the salad bar for an additional $ 4.95! So in essence I would pay $ 10.95 for a piece of fish and an additional $ 4.95 for a salad. Somehow this just seems outrageous! I settled for a $ 5.95 creamed chicken on biscuits lunch and added a salad bar. Final cost? $ 10.90 for the meal. The creamed chicken was bland, nearly devoid of chicken, and was basically biscuits and cream sauce. What a disappointment. I guess I have learned my lesson. I won’t be back.

The service is great which is why it gets one star. We paid $ 15.50 a person for the buffet. The food was the equivalent to a Swanson’s TV dinner. It is expensive and the quality is poor. It is warmed over cafeteria food at best. Steer clear of this barn. All-you-can-eat does not mean it’s worth evening.

This is our 2nd time visiting«The Barn». It’s an old rustic barn refurbished for dinning. It has a buffet wagon, for dinner and lunch. Lunch it’s just a huge salad bar. Not sure for dinner how they change it up. But 4 different soups for lunch both times, and the salad bar is kept pretty clean, for buffet. I’m not to much into that any more, and I lived through the«Regan» years, whenever buffet seemed to be the norm. But this place holds it together pretty well. There is a pond out front and shops all on site. So lots to do before and after. All in all it’s enjoying and the bathrooms are clean and handicap accessible. Not that we need it, but I like to see places that cater to specific needs. My wife and kids usually order from menus, w/lunch only having soup salad and bread bar, and lite fruits and deserts.

The atmosphere gets a 4 to 5 star. Relaxing with the pond and feeding the fish and ducks. There are a few nice shops to stroll through while you wait. The food is decent but the selection has been cut down over the years.(No more fried chicken at a «home cooked«country restaurant). We had a party of 15 and our waitress seemed more stressed than helpful. Maybe they are short staffed. We will be back but more for the pond than the food.

Neat restaurant, staff was great, food not so much. Canned corn, stove top stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, none of the so called soups were labeled it is a guessing game. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

We have been coming here for years. I would recommend the buffet over their menu. Some of the food on the buffet is clearly not made on site but most of it is. Their salad bars on both floors are very good and kept well stocked. The country farm theme is a nice change from other places we frequent. The staff are always friendly down home type folks.

The salad bar is a great place to have lunch & watch the ducks play in the pond. Good selection of soups & breads too as well as a menu to choose from. We enjoyed the place so much we decided to move here so we could enjoy it regularly. The staff is so friendly & helpful. You get that«Down home feeling» every time you come here

This is such a neat restaurant! It has a cool atmosphere with authentic farm décor. On busy nights, the waiting room has a bunch of cool things to do such as games, operating model trains, and even a live bee hive. Not only does the Barn have a cool down on the farm vibe, but it also has delicious food. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and don’t forget to stop and feed the ducks!

The fact that this place is so busy all the time sort of surprises me. Bland, boring food the caliber of Golden Corral. 2nd visit for us. Don’t think we would return. Come for the view, but not the food.

Meal(***): I had a mushroom Swiss burger. The burger was cooked, but the meat was still pink. I’m not sure if it was a steak burger or ground beef. It was pretty good, and I got the onion rings. Ambiance(****): It’s a pretty laid back place. It’s not loud, there is no annoying music. The wait staff wear some sort of Mennonite outfit. Service(****): My drink was topped regularly.

The hubby and I went to Wooster and figured a place called ‘The Barn’ would offer some scrumptious and hearty good ‘olé home cookin’ — the stick to your ribs kinda stuff. NEGATIVE Overall: disappointment to the extreme The location, scenery, and ambiance is really awesome. There is a restaurant up top and buffet down below. The giant lake is very pretty and the conversion of the barn into a restaurant is pretty dang cool. We were greeted promptly and with friendly staff all around, and the service was good. The food is weak sauce. I mean if Cracker Barrel figured it out, I’d think a place called The Barn would have some unique, home style type foods. The lunch menu consisted of generic burgers and sandwiches, nothing special about any of them. No home baked bread to select from as buns, no variety of cheeses or toppings, just BLAH. They do have a quite hearty salad and soup bar(they call the wagon), and it was well stocked and fresh, but all the toppings and sides(coleslaw, pudding, fruit, etc) came from cans. I was really hoping for some fresh fruit and homemade salads and soup. Nope. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap and the hubby ordered the turkey club. I was expecting the club to be those stacked type sandwiches, but it was on a burger style bun with shredded turkey — weird. The grilled chicken wrap was really lackluster and I only ate half of it. My hubby also had a cub of chicken noodle soup and it was obviously out of a can with excessive noodles and little chicken to be found. I was not pleased at all with this place. I could see going at lunch for the salad bar MAYBE, but that’s a big maybe(see it over there in all caps). I wouldn’t recommend going to the barn unless you are up for a major let down!
