This place is usually busting at the seams when I visit because their home style food and delectable desserts are very worth a small wait! Great service too!

I wouldn’t have known about this place if it weren’t for my friend who lives in Kansas City. The food is amazing. Great home cooking flavor and great, friendly service. The décor feels like you’re eating in someone’s cozy little home. The seating is small, and at peak might seat about 30 people. It was the best place to get filling, flavorful, home-style, American comfort food. I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, onion rings, cinnamon applesauce, and a homemade roll. The food tasted perfect! Sometimes home style cooking can be bland. The seasoning was just right and was absolutely satisfying. It wasn’t greasy either. I had food to share with my friends who ate with me. My only comment is that the cinnamon applesauce had red food dye in it, which I wasn’t too crazy about, but it was still delicious. I generally try to eat healthy, so I don’t typically end up at places like this. For me, this restaurant was an indulgence, and not something I’d eat every week, but I’d be happy to come back to their restaurant the next time I’m in Kansas City!

I did not even know this place exists. I am so glad I came in here to eat, I had an excellent tenderloin sandwich with real horseradish it was fresh and not bitter. My wife had the fried catfish it was amazing. Very friendly warm atmosphere and we got in and out of there within like 20 minutes. I highly recommend this place. If you want to take a little drive head up to Smithville and check it out.

We’ve been to the cooks corner in Dearborn, and they’ve moved to smithville… closer for us… same good food… Walk in the door, place seems small, 20+ seats, but behind another wall is seating for 50… Sunday morning the place packed up. The décor is simple, diner type seating, simple menu, we only saw the breakfast, but they are smart… keeping the menu simple and getting food out quick. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns, wife, eggs and a short stack, both boys opted for French toast and eggs, one bacon and one sausage. All the food was good… generous portions of bacon and sausage… eggs came out as ordered… the French toast was spot on… the the flying saucer sized pancakes were a medal winner for the wife. Overall, good experience, and we’ll be making a trip back to smithville.,
