Let me start off by saying, this restaurant is a special restaurant for me and my boyfriend. We’ve had anniversary dinners here, valentine’s day dinners, birthday dinners and maybe some other random occasions. [All special, clearly] The staff is always nice, the wait is never too long, and the food is really, really delicious. Is there anything I’m missing for a great dining experience? Well, the chairs are comfy, the décor/ambiance is warm and inviting, there is a bar area and a nicer sit down area… should I keep going? There isn’t anything to not like. For an «upscale,» «pricier» restaurant, the prices are actually really fair and nothing that makes your eyes fall out of your face because you didn’t know it was so much money. Everything is reasonable [this is coming from an early 20’s year old that doesn’t have bags of money to eat at fancy restaurants.]. Oh! So what did we get you ask? Well. We started with the warm buratta mozzarella [100%] I did the restaurant week deal so I also got a salad with mixed greens, cheese, apples and a lemon herb dressing [75%] –We have always gotten the mac and cheese but this time we wanted to do dessert because it was a birthday dinner(it’s really good, get it)– Short rib grilled cheese [100%] Three cheese tortolloni with tomato sauce and mozzarella [85%] Crème brûlée cheesecake [90%] Rainbow cookie cake [100%] —Definitely get this, I don’t care what diet you claim to be on, you need it.

My $ 45 porterhouse tasted like a JR Steakhouse special !! Food was mediocre at best! Service as well! Our desert came well after our coffee was fine and cappuccinos cane Coke ! Spend your hard earned money elsewhere !!

My wife and I have been here a couple of times and we have always had a wonderful time here. I always enjoy my burger and fries and my wife was happy with her Tuscan Chicken. They have an amazing dessert item called crème brûlée cheesecake, which was amazing as well. The ambience and the restaurant itself is nothing amazing but still peaceful inside and quite large. The service has always been a little on the average side and that is the major reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars. But the service was not horrible either. I would recommend this place.

So… my hubby & I just finished our 1st dinner here. We sat at the bar. Our bartender, Eileen, was so nice that we ate our dinner at the bar. The red sangria is SO good. We started with the sesame tuna & ceasar salad. Both were excellent. He had the short rib grilled cheese. Never have I had a better grilled cheese. So yummy! The fries that came with it were so crunchy & good. I had the skirt steak which was also delicious. Their bar menu looked really good too. The manager, Bill, came over 2x to make sure everything was good. We will definitely be coming back!!!

Great food. Great Wine. Great Service. Had the Thursday Date Night Price Fix for 2. Everything on the menu looked good. Wedge salad was average, steak was amazing as was duck. We had one of the best Cabernet I can remember ever having. The deserts were also amazing — no cheesecake on price fix this night which was disappointing but I’ll survive:) We got a seat right away because we went at 830 but they can get crowded so I would make reservations. Couldn’t find them on open table??? Place was crowded but still plenty of space between tables. Price was extremely reasonable — $ 75 for 2 with 3 courses and bottle of wine !!! Without a doubt this is a place to go… Just call ahead and don’t get the wedge salad.

Décor is very nice and cozy, food is excellent too. I had the Tuscan Chicken; the ghocci combined with wine sauce was the best part! The apple struddel was also so good and unique. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We will be back. :)

Another visit to the Chop Shop and another 5 star review for me! Finally I got the opportunity to try a full dinner and not just the bar scene. We came by chance on wine and dime night so we took full advantage of the wine specials. As soon as the four of us sat down for dinner, we were presented with our menus for dinner, the wine and dime specials as well as their pre-fix $ 28.95 special which includes selected appetizers, entrees and a chef’s choice desert. We decided on three appetizers to start for our table; the bar pie, the kettle chips and the edamame. My favorite of the three was easily the chips, I could eat these all day especially during a game. They were extra crunchy like a good kettle chip should be with a balsamic glaze and some tangy cheese. The sauce with edamame was also great I even found myself dipping the chips in the sauce… One great thing about our service was we actually had enough time to drink and eat with our appetizers and have full conversations before our entrees were served. That almost never happens! I always find myself needing to move food out of the way when entrees come so the timing was perfect. I ordered the steak panzenala salad which was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The croutons and the cheese along with the artichokes were amazing. I don’t think I even left a piece of lettuce on my plate, just kept eating and eating. The bone in rib-eye also looked really good and my girlfriend got the skirt steak which I tried a bite and she’s lucky I didn’t steal her leftovers. The Chop Shop is such a great place in Smithtown and a must try if you want good food at good prices. I can’t wait to come back and try their Thursday date night specials.

I made 6:30 reservations here. Showed up 15 minutes early and was seated at 6:35. Drink orders were taken immediately and brought immediately. For an appetizer, I ordered the Lobster Bisque. INCREDIBLE. That is one of my favorite dishes, so I’m very picky. Extremely creamy and with no chunks whatsoever. By far my new favorite restaurant to order that. For dinner, I ordered the Filet Mignon(medium rare). It was cooked exquisitely. A bit salty(which I like, but others may not). Overall, a wonderful meal.

Brought my team here for an after work dinner. Made reservations the day before for six and they called to confirm the day of to ensure we were coming. This is one of those places that won’t seat you until your entire party is present, and I can understand why. They don’t want three of us taking up a table for six if the rest of the party doesn’t show. The hostess was very accommodating and when everybody was there, we were seated at our reserved table. Service was good from the start. It wasn’t outstanding, but the place was packed to the gills. A few things we had to ask for twice, but nothing that put a damper on the evening. Appetizers were very good. We had the calamari, sushi, and shrimp. Food comes out quick from the kitchen at this place. The majority of the party ordered steak in one form or another and all our meals we’re fantastic, flavorful, and more than enough food. I got the bone-in ribeye, and was very, very happy. A few items on the menu are pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for here. Another thing that may be an issue for some is that it was quite LOUD in there. I wouldn’t recommend it for a nice cozy evening for two, but if you’ve got four or more in your party, it’s a good time and a great choice.

I fully enjoyed my steak; ready in record time but cooked perfectly. Great décor but awful service by our waitress. The chicken dish wasn’t so fantastic and my overall opinion was iffy. Other than my steak which was not at all too expensive, I’d say this place is clearly overrated here on Urbanspoon but, perhaps they all had the steak as well… Not the greatest but pretty well done.

Arrived on a slow Sunday night(weren’t many tables). The lighting was low so the the place was real dark, but nice interior, classy. The table was comfortable and liked the soft cloth napkins(nice touch). Took waitress about 10 mins to get our drink order. I knew we were in trouble right away. Fortunately, she came back for our food order quicker. We ordered the Crispy Fried Calamari and salads as appetizers. Took awhile for them to come out, but the calamari was good. I asked the waitress for another ice tea and it never came. So I asked the food runner for one, and it never came. Finally, 3rd times a charm, asked the waitress again. Food took awhile to come out. I ordered the White Clam Cambo(linguine, shrimp, little necks clams, pei mussels, calamari, virgin olive oil, garlic, basil toasted seasoned breadcrumbs) which was very good. Calamari was delicious. Sauce was very good, seafood was fresh, and the linguine was cooked perfectly. The perfect portion size(great mix of seafood to linguine). The Panko Chicken(lightly sautéed, three tomato caponata, melted gorgonzola, pesto orzo, balsamic vinaigrette) was also very good. The Atlantic Salmon(pan seared, lemon white bean ragu, grilled zucchini) was cooked perfectly, but didn’t have much flavor. We ordered desert, and wanted to get coffee but the waitress took off. We didn’t feel like waiting, so we decided to get coffee elsewhere. All in all, the food was good, the environment was good, but our service was bad. I noticed a table next to ours had a wonderful waitress. She kept checking on them and refilling drinks. To bad we didn’t get her. When walking to the bathroom, there was a group of 5 employees standing around talking. Why not take care of the few tables you have — really bothers me when there’s a lot of staff and only a few tables and service is bad. I would give the food 4 stars, so if you’re on the fence, check them out.

I’ve eaten here twice so far. Both times have been great. Had the burger last time and it was excellent, big, cooked to perfection. The place has a relaxing atmosphere and both times did not seem overcrowded. Will go back again.

First time here. Excellent experience. Ordered Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail to start. both were very good. Spotted a bar menu hanging up by the bar with items not listed on the main menu. Really cool options . Buffalo Calamari Bar pizza Baked Brie(delish!) They also had a raw bar. Dinner was fantastic! Gorgonzola Steak was so good. Came with potatoes, but I subbed veggies instead. They were so fresh and crisp.(See photo) Skirt steak was also delicious. cooked and seasoned perfectly. Opted for coffee only which was hot and strong. but they had many dessert options that sounded good. Definitely recommend trying this place out. I will surely return.

My husband and I love this place — whenever we’re in the mood for a great steak and a nice night out, this is where we go and we are never disappointed. Tonight we went and sat at the bar and we each ordered a salad and then both had the NY shell/strip steak. It was perfection. This is how you cook a steak. Perfectly seasoned, charred and both cooked as ordered — mine medium and his medium rare. Every time they cook it the right way. Slightly less expensive then places like Prime etc. But just as delicious. Love the ambiance — feels like a sophisticated, though not snooty, Manhattan restaurant. Great service. Consistent. Love this place.

Our first time here. Place was crowded and full of ambiance on a Thursday night. 20 minute wait for four(they only take reservations for 5 or more). Enjoyed a drink at the bar prior to being seated great service nice bar menu offered food coming out looked good too. Once seated nice round table for the four of us. Apps decently good tempura rock shrimp(a little to much soy dressing) stuffed artichoke hearts with Gorgonzola(good but only 2 to an order). Dinner was delicious two tunas where great cooked to perfection two autumn salads with huge grilled shrimp(that was delicious) ! Dessert Nutella stuffed crêpe was amazing too ! All around a great meal, friendly service and warm atmosphere ! We will be back !!!

Went here on a Thursday evening with a group of 4 and enjoyed the experience. We wanted to try something new in the area and a friend picked this place. The restaurant itself was pretty packed for a Thursday evening. It has a nice ambiance, well-decorated, dimly lit, good table arrangements and a nice bar area. We sat in a corner booth table and enjoyed being able to look out into the restaurant and people watch. On Thursdays the restaurant has a «Date Night’ special which we decided to partake in for the evening. For $ 60/couple each person can get one starter dish(you pick either soup, salad, or appetizer), one entrée, and either coffee or dessert plus a bottle of wine(there is a list of red and white wines you pick from). We thought this was a fantastic deal! Not every dish on the restaurant’s menu is on the Date Night Menu but you have a good number of options and it’s a great way to try several things at the restaurant. For my entrée I got the chicken with gnocchi which was actually very well-seasoned and the chicken well-cooked, other dishes worth of mention were the skirt steak and the seafood gumbo starter soup. The food itself was actually pretty good overall and with the great service we had for the night and the awesome deal, it was definitely worth it. We’d come back!

This review is based on my most recent visit, today for lunch. I walked in to an empty restaurant at about 12:30 and sat at the bar. My was served by a lovely young lady, I wish I had gotten her name. I had the steak sandwitch and it was awesome. Tender filet mignon, cheese on a toasted hero with a wondeful aju dipping sauce. Came with fries and slaw. Damage was $ 20 and worth it. I totally reccommend.
