Hills of Snow is a wonderful sweet treat! They have 101 flavors, and several add-ins to choose from. I would have given 5 stars, but the lady at the counter wasn’t super enthused to have conversation with me. My snowball was amazing though!

I’m much more of an ice cream fan, but I won’t turn down any frozen confection. They do have 101 flavors here so there is something for everyone. There are snow cones, but there is also snow cream. I prefer the snow cream with a shot of condensed milk on top. Yum! The wedding cake, piña colada and banana flavors are delish! Read an article in a magazine about it. The owner’s father created the shop and even built the snow-cone shaped building. Great history.

We have to stop here every year on our way to Myrtle Beach. The snow cones are excellent with tons of flavors. The vanilla is incredible. The syrups are made in house. Love this place!

Wow, I can’t believe I am the first one to review Smithfield’s world’s famous Hills of Snow. Every summer, I can hardly wait for this place to open its doors … or well open that small window you order through always. You can’t drive through Smithfield’s Brightleaf Blvd and not notice the snowball roof 20 feet in the air of this establishment. Been here plenty of times over the years and I usually get the Pina Colada — probably from habit of having small children I didn’t want to stain with cherry, grape or orange flavors. My kids now get the Tiger’s Blood, Dinosaur, Super Sour Lemon and whatever the new concoction of the summer is. It’s a rite of passage for Smithfield teenagers to work here, and they’ve all been great snowball makers.
